First 640 I've got to see anywhere doing anything. Those big quads look so much better with the wide belts and the wide stance. Would be much more stable on hills too.
Man oh man what a tractor, the extended length and width of those tracks really make it look like the beast that it is. While I'm a big Cummins fan in trucks, I for one am happy about Deere's decision to use their own 14L engine in 2023, while having a slightly smaller package, and retaining the same hp ratings, on a theoretical smaller amount of fuel. The myth smaller engines of the same hp as bigger engines burn less fuel is just that. A myth. I have a 9630 and and 865 and the Deere 13.5 will use just as much as the c18 and while the Deere is rated 5 HP more the cat will out pull it easily and the same less fuel.
@@MrTjulius I was thinking the same thing actually. Probably due to the smaller engine being operated close to its limits whilst the larger engine has a bit more in reserve and so isn't so stressed - probably a slightly lower engine speed to achieve the same output, acre wise, too.

Yes they have two. The other one was working at a different farm that day. I filmed at this farm back in 2015 when they had 9510Rs on Krause Dominators.
Idk for sure but with double cropping and other crops such as tobacco these farms have alot of revenue compared to northern farms. Plus they all seem to be multi generational farms. When you think how this country was settled it started in the east and moved west so it kinda makes sense they have some older very successful farms.
I'm pretty sure the John Deere 9RX 640 for model year 2022 went back to being powered by John Deere's own 13.6L engine according to the specs on John Deere's website, they apparently keep switching back and forth between that and Cummins engines (particularly the X15) every few years
The one in the video was delivered on in late March and has the QSX15 engine. I was surprised looking at Deere.com to see the 14L engine listed for all models. The 2022 models will stand out in the future. I suspect the reason the website shows the 2023 specs is all production is sold out this year.
Can’t understand why Deere keeps going backwards with their articulated tractors. They had a good thing with the Cummins engine and they dumped it for the anemic new 13.6. My 9570R will out pull a 9R 640.
How deep is he pulling that 330? Doesn’t even look like an inch? I’ve got my 330 depth gauge set past C almost to D. Maybe I’m going to deep? 🤔 Only my second year with it.
I did not see the setting. I would guess 2 inches. The field is a river bottom. It was deep ripped in the fall and had NH3 applied in the spring. The 330 is just cutting up the annual blue grass and smoothing out the NH3 application.

Did anyone notice the tractor driver turn the equipment around at 4:12 at a high rate of speed. Some farmers have to much money and not enough brain to slow down and take care of their equipment. Just sayin
This is not the only job this tractor does on the farm. It runs a Krause Dominator in the fall running 18 inches deep and 23ft wide. With this spring tillage pass the tractor runs faster than a lesser powered tractor getting more acres covered per day.
I don't care how quick you can make your money back there is no reason any vehicle on this planet should be priced that high it's unrealistic and it's bs
These are industrial machines just like CAT D11 bull dozer. They have big jobs to. Components, computers and emissions drive the price up and up. There are plenty of used machines out there that are a cheaper option.

Could be because the case is a little outdated now but there's rumours going around that case may come out with a new quadtrac very soon and some rumours suggest that there may be an 800hp version.
There are cons to working the headland first and then working it again when done. It fines up the dirt more which can lead to crusting issues after heavy rains. Also reduces water infiltration. Working it twice causes additional moisture loss, which can be problematic especially with shallower planted crops. 2nd pass also burns more fuel and causes more wear on the tillage implements.
For 800k before taxes, he better like that tractor. For the life of me, I cannot understand why people continue to buy John Deere. With their policy of not allowing the farmer to work/fix their own equipment and the huge cost incurred because of that. I would never buy a John Deere until they smarten up.
Clearly your another one of those who hasn't read about the right to repair act. Right to repair only has to do with electronics and nothing else. Deere has gave people the software to be able to scan codes and all that, the question is are they good enough to figure out the issue? The answer is probably not also Deere is not wrong especially with all the regulations to not allow just anyone to mess with the electronics on equipment. Deere has never said you can no fix your own equipment and that's the myth everyone is trying to push. Lastly don't think every other manufacturer wouldn't be on board and the car industry has been doing the same thing for years and no one says anything. Wonder why that is.

We have been a Deere farm since the 40s and have 8 dealers with in an hour but only have one case dealer and one acgo dealer in the same distance and the next closest after that who knows.

Zeorian harvesting switched to new Holland because of field service and parts. I guess what ever is local they all break down. Mike Mitchell s switched to Fendt because of warranty.

I think a 2 track of the same hp and torque would probably pull better than a 4 tracked tractor but a 4 tracked tractor have many advantages over a 2 track like steering for instance. Maybe John Deere haven't put the 2 track into production yet.
This is a river bottom field. The coloring of the surface is bleached looking from a light layer of sand left from winter flood waters. It is very good producing ground.
@@bigtractorpower I'm not an expert, but watched another BigTractorPower videos (best ag videos on the web, in my opinion) from the same area and the field was yielding 220 bu/acre corn... that's not what I'd call "poor soil".

Hmmm. I live in Kentucky so that is where I film many farm machines. Do you tell other ag RUclipsrs to leave their farm and go film some where else? I would recommend visiting the Big Tractor Power RUclips home page to review the last 10 videos posted. 6 of the last 10 videos were filmed in Wisconsin, Illinois, New York and Indiana. 7 of the last 10 cover the classic tractors. I like filming the classics more than anything but I do make it a mission the feature a new tractor, combine or implement the year it is introduced. Also 5 of the last 10 videos featured non John Deere tractors. I do my best to cover all brands and eras.
Almost every farm that I film it saves the headlines for last because of all the turns. They like to run over those last smooth out the tread marks as well as breaking up the heaviest compacted area last. Most of the farms I have filmed at also plant corn last on the headlands now.
@@bigtractorpower I always did them first and last, except if there were no washouts .Plus we never lifted the implements all the way up, just enough to turn around and not dig into the ground.
@@StubProductions There is a lot of added stress on the wheels and axles when the implement bounces around. The bigger the bounce the more stress it puts on the axles.

The new 9Rs are nice. I just filmed a 9R 490 over the weekend. So far I have filmed a 9RX 640, 9RX 590, 9RX 490 and a 9R 490.

does it really need that much horsepower for that job? I don't think so. I think that they can do the same job with half the horsepower
