I wish he just wasn’t in the videos, he always just says random drum/gear buzz words trying to make himself sound smart. He sounds like someone who’s watched hours of drum gear videos but has never touched a kit. He’s also not a great player. I don’t hate the guy he’s the reason we have modern drummer at all but he needs to get out of the videos.
@@drake7709 That's too harsh. He is excited about the gear as we all are. Allow him to have room to grow. I agree that these segments can be a little disorganized.
@@drumrnva He should get a list beforehand to aid in discussion, maybe, not so detailed as to include special information like that wrap, but enough to know what he is getting into. Rushing the discussion does not come across as the best way to handle it. l can appreciate that he only has a limited allotment of press time, but it is ridiculous to reduce it to something that they can read off of a list. Time management does not mean that he should half ass it
Mine was not a joke. l had simply never heard of the drummer and lazily read the caption, but yeah, he has most certainly come to terms with and accepted his name as is. He had most probably heard those much earlier but started understanding around 6.
The boss...I mean...I remember once John Blackwell telling a story about how Prince fined him for playing certain way and Dennis Chambers playing a solo with Steely Dan and afterwards being reprimanded about it but calling Sting a boss is killing all the joy of playing. I know once Vinnie almost hit him or something because sometimes or always Sting is all about his ego... Anywho, on stage and in the studio you are all equal and if someone is bossing you than maybe it's not your gig. #justsaying
I like his earnestness. He seems genuinely interested and often asks questions about obvious things, but not obvious to people that might not be experienced touring drummers.
@ well said. I couldn’t agree more. It’s just going from Stewart to Manu to Vinnie (who are greats and legends) to these type of drummers, Sting is downgrading his drummer talent. This dude Maas doesn’t suck but he’s just nowhere near the upper echelons tier of master drummers. IMO.
LAAAAAST CHRIS MAAS I GAVE YOU MY HEART
🤮
He's very pretty
Great stuff! Thanks Chris and David.
Thank you Chris and your magnificent team for allowing us on your stage! See you soon!
Wow,what a great sounding kit.I mean is this almost perfect? Yes.
Sting always gets the best players.Always!
the kit sounds fantastic, what a sound. New drummer for me, I'll be going down another rabbit hole
Kit sounds great! Makes me even more excited to get the classic maples I ordered in the new black sparkle 😍
I saw Chris play for Maggie Rogers last year at Outside Lands, great drummer for sure! 😎
The coloured heads reminded me of the Ludwig jellybean vistalite kits of the 70s.
That kit sounds amazing live! And im a yamaha guy.
It's the "Drummer's Choice" says it right on the Pedal itself- That's the best pedal I've played, and still do
First comment! Love these videos Modern Drummer!!! 🥁❤️🥁
You weren’t the first

Great rundown. Great drummer! 🤘🙂👍
Every time he refers to ‘the boss’, I imagine Springsteen peeking around the corner to glare disapprovingly 😂
Great Drummer. Great Drum Sound
What Great Drummer!!
Cool looking kit. Love it
The boss ...... the boss .......... the boss ........
Yeah. Yuck.
Fantastic. The two crashes for that hi hat sound pretty good to me!
very interesting, thank you
😂 merry Chis Maas. Love the head colors.
David please stop moving on to other parts of the set up when the drummer is still in midsentance explaining the last part.
Yeah,i thought maybe it was just me.David, please slow down my man,and let your guest finish his or her thought!
Cheers David

Agreed. MD has great access, but these rundowns are so awkward. They just feel uncomfortable.

Ludwigs black galaxy finish was the best. Hope they bring it back one day 🤞
The number of guys thinking they’re the first ones to come up with a Christmas joke… dude’s been hearing them since he was 6.

Bello/Magnifico.🙏✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️👑
There's a drummer called Christmas, that's awesome
He is a seasonal drummer
At first, l thought this one was a month early!

"The Boss" LOL!
Vendor…Steve Maxwell?
Most likely
These would be so much better without David Frangione - he just cannot shut up
Too much caffeine or too much coke!!
Belgian drummer
Luxembourg

They did.
Endorsed by Remo but uses Evans muffling pillows in the kick drum. Hmm.

agreed but every drummer would want to play with the legend Sting himself.. and thats the price I guess.. but what a gig to put on your CV
Move out the ea
Chris maas. Lol.
Please take Dave off these videos
He is the owner and boss at Modern Drummer, so that's not likely to happen.
I like his earnestness. He seems genuinely interested and often asks questions about obvious things, but not obvious to people that might not be experienced touring drummers.
Vater sounds just like Vader.
Sorry.
This guy is no Vinnie.
Or Copeland.
@ agreed.
To be fair, not many are. Vinnie is in a whole other universe of drumming.
