Very true. Few of them have been known to be some of the best games ever made. Personally, I think these are the ones: Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye 007, and Conker's Bad Fur Day.
@@somerandofromoregon Donkey Kong 64 was by far one of the hardest adventure games to beat; i could be wrong but i feel it was harder than Mario or Banjo...i beat both of those fairly easily...Donkey Kong 64 though was a completionists nightmare. You had 5 characters and i think there were 8 or 10 worlds and each character had to get 100 coloured bananas, and several other things in each world...it was like...if you were in the wrong place with the wrong character u couldn't even pick up the right banana because it was the wrong colour...you had to go switch character and figure out..."how do i reach that area with this character" divert holes and walls and cliffs...ugh.
@@sorayat2333 Definitely not the worst, but the reason it lost to Playstation was that it was totally reliant on a select number of franchises, and if you weren't into them, then there was little else in terms of top tier games. Whereas with the Playstation there were so many great games, your library could be so unique.

I remember going into a electronics shop on Main st. in Flushing, NYC with my friends, we were on our way to go play laser tag and decided to pop into this shop first, they had a Famicom 64 with Mario 64 playing on the screen, to say that we were blown away was a understatement, I knew that as soon as a US version was available I was picking one up pronto, the rest is history.
For a console that has so few games it's remarkable how many exclusive top games it has. Of course the Playstation has more triple A games, but it also has the advantage of the sheer numbers. The N64 had 393 games while the Playstation has almost the eightfold with 3098 games. In 2020 alone the Switch had almost twice as many releases the N64 had in its entire lifespan. Imho the list is also missing some excellent games such as the Turok trilogy, Shadow Man, WWF No Mercy, Rayman 2 and World Driver Championship.
you forgot snowboard kids...one o the most iconic racing games on the N64...easily as good as Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing...different sure...but just as fun...still involves shooting each other, four players, fun characters, different boards, great courses...highly recommend you look it up.
@@moogibeans9822 Nope, because it has a weird and outdated gameplay compared to all the 3D Castlevania games (Lament was the 1st good Castlevania 3D game even if it was simple and linear, CoD an Innocent Devil Raising simulator and Trevor fangasms, LoS a great hack'n slash), no memoriable OST, weird EXP mechanic, also IGA said that Castlevania 64 and (the werewolf one) aren't canon.

I once got to a level on Donkey Kong 64 where there was target on me and someone said "KILLERS" in a strange voice and for some reason as a kid this scared the living shit out of me and I wouldn't play it for a while after that. There's also an arcade machine where you can play the original Donkey Kong game. I thought the whole game was pretty good actually. There were a variety of different characters that could do different things also.

While a pretty common opinion, my favorite is Super Mario 64. Still holds up to this day, and has better controls than a lot of modern games.

Lament of Innocence, Curse of Darkness, Lords of Shadow. Not storyline wise but gameplay wise, all of them are better than 64

DK64 was a very boring game. Boss battles were ok, but playing that game was stupid. Conker was far better by the fact it was much funnier than dk64.
