Romani's were actually captured artisans as slaves from india by Invaders and taken to the west of asia then to europe. They were abandoned and thrown out of country(invader's country) by invaders after some centuries later. But due different complexion of physical features and loss of ethnicity they were not accepted in european countries. They were never acceped thereafter. then the term "Gypsis" was came into mainstream. but now they are coming to know of their indian ethnicity.
I don't think that is completely accurate. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. They did migrate out of North-western India and were likely already nomads (banjaras) in India.
Also need to check their Godess - Black Medona and Hindu Godess KALI to reveal some more similarities!!
@@EagleOverTheSeaTheir migration directly overlaps with early Islamic invasions of India on Western borders, and the only economic desert Invaders knew was by loot and capturing slaves.
What? Romanis migrated from Rajasthan, some parts of MP, and Haryana. What are you talking about? This probably happened in the 10th century, when India was an economic superpower.
@@praveenpillay4329 logical argument for the communists!!🙂
I'm from Lucknow (where Kathak is from) and now I live in Andalucía (home of flamenco in Spain) and the first time watching flamenco caught me by surprise on how similar they are to eachother!
Bro Kathak is not from Lucknow but it have one of the form (Gharana) which was developed in Lucknow. The Kathak have two gharanas, one is Jaipur Gharana and other is Lucknow Gharana. Kathak it self is very old form of dance and it came to Lucknow with Islamic rulers who took it from easter India while coming for Middle East or central Europe.
@@LearningFromHistory Kathak, much like Urdu, didn't come to India with the Islamic rulers.
And saying Kathak is not from Lucknow is like saying Kathakali is not from Kerala.
Obviously it has gharanahs elsewhere but Kathak is very much a part of the identity of Lucknow.
@@nitishsaxena1372 Bro I never said Kathak is not from India. Kathak is from Eastern India and it was brought to Lucknow (Central India) by Islamic rulers who ruled Avadh.
@@LearningFromHistoryYou're giving a lot of credit to foreign Islamics just got being around and having a few kings around at the time things were being developed in India. It's like calling the numeral system the Arabic numeral system when all they did was literally just transmit Indian ideas to the west accidentally.
Its because romanis were from India, they went to europe, it spread to spain and to south america
Yes, but majority of them didn’t ‘go’ there, they were taken.
Yes now we can see too why they are so similar
My dear Waleska ,the sound you hear is not from the bangles. it is from the thing she is wearing on her feet. It is called gunghroo/chilanka .. It has many bells . Every indian classical dancer will wear this.😊😊
spanish Guitar is actually Geetar, a Vedic instrument lost in india after Sitar became more popular
Romanis are Indian origin people our cultures and traditions are some what similar
You guys really made me get into music and appreciate it more. As an Indian it has always been a part of my life, but more subcociously in the bg. I havent paid any special interest to it or even general interset till lockdown. I never had a favorite playlist or genre or anything back then.
Lockdown i got bored and slowly started getting a bit more into music, but it was still less than a common person. Japanese music is what got me really into music and art in general. Before that, i didn't bother to remember bands or artists and wasn't fond of concerts, but now i have artists i admire and would love to see them perform.
After i started watching you guys, i really started getting into it further, i always loved analysing any form of art, and now im consciously aware of the music form and enjoy it more.
Indian music, as much as i loved it, i took it for granted. You guys made me see the beauty of it again.
Im quite pessimistic and nihilistic, but art is something when i experience i think "i love humans"
Hearing that phrase made me realize that, and i want to thank you guys for it.
Romani people or "gypsies" are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group because their ethnic and linguistic roots are from India. Today, they are genetically like half Euro half Indian. The influence of Indian culture on Andalucian culture is not just the dance, but the instrumentation, vocalization, colorful costumes, etc. Of course, other influences also exists such as Arabic/North African.
Andalucian music is Indian music only ,exported through trade routes and courtesan.
This was a pleasant surprise! Didn't expect this given the kind of unadventurous followers you have garnered in India.
I had the pleasure of watching Aditi and Bettina (the first pair) live. I have taken workshops with Bettina and she is a hard task-master. I first discovered her through a Flamenco-Kathakali (not Kathak) fusion performance called the Killing of Dussasana where she played Draupadi. She visits India often and collaborates with different artists here.
I have also had the pleasure of dancing Sevillanas (one of the Palos of Flamenco) to music by Indialucia (the last group in the video).
As an Indian (with some training in Bharatnatyam, another classical form) learning Flamenco has been familiar and strange in equal measure. I warmed up to the guitar melodies and some of the basic dance movements easily. But, the cante took some getting used to. I would compare it more to Rajasthani folk or even Qawwali more than Indian classical singing. It can be raw, passionate and high-pitched and not always easy on the ears.
And yes, contra-tiempo is super tricky and something I struggle with; but it is something I suspect Indian classical musicians would take to like ducks to water.
What an interesting life you have! Thanks for sharing ❤
I'm a kathak dancer and also I'm learning Flamenco❤
This was actually very interesting as well as informative. I love learning more with you guys
There is a strong probability that you have Indian ancestry too. 😂😂😂😂
I dont know what you are insinuating, but it is highly unlikely
Wtf are you talking about
Or we have theirs
@@ayeaayush It's very likely, many South Americans have Indian-romani ancestory as Spanish colinizers also took cheap labour to south America on their cononising expedtions
@anshul6168 for it to be very likely, the population of these Romani cheap laborers taken to South America by Spain had to be very large, larger than the real caucasian Spaniards, which it wasn't, so I still disagree with this unnecessary comment
Wait I watched this video and sent it to wale on insta immediately. Glad to know someone else had the same idea. 😅 I really enjoy your videos❤️
Absolutely loved from their dance to your reactions ❤❤and still watching the video 😂❤❤
As an indian i knew that flamenco n Romani had indian influence but the amount of influence was just baffling. They are just so similar.
I am one of the people who are waiting for this video.
"Sordas" sounds like the ancient indian singer and poet "surdas" and it's pronunciation in romani is"Sūradāsa" this isn't a coincidence bro! it literally means the Roma people, migrated from the northern Indian region, including areas like Punjab and Rajasthan, to Spain during the Medieval Era and contributed to the concept of musical notes "do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si" maybe...just search surdas in hindi in wikipedia
Watch NILESH OAK on Ranveer podcast to understand this similarity . We have a 14000 years old connection.
Yes guys plz plz plzzzzz react to it. It's fking mind blowing podcast. Plzzz wale and efra
India is much more than just Bollywood; it celebrates vibrant dancers from South India like Chiranjeevi, Thalapathy Vijay, Raghava Lawrence, and Allu Arjun,PRABU DEVA. These talented dancers embody the rich cultural heritage and artistic diversity of the country
If you hear "arabic influence" it's almost always a misunderstanding of it being Indian influence transmitted through Arabia to Europe. Whether it's maths, or science, maths, textiles, etc. The actual Arabic influence is mostly limited.
India the mother of cultures.
Mother of Civilization. Go watch William Damryle podcast
Yes, they are our people
Rajasthani folk dance is closer to flamenco.
I think you should say Flamenco is closer to Rajasthani folk dance
Amazing video!! 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤😊
The Romania actually came from india/pakistan years ago and the fla.enco is very much influenced from our classical dance
Love u guys 🤟🏻😘
You two are amazing ❤❤❤❤
Make a podcast on all Indian instruments ❤
Thats true Romanis are very likely and originally from India rather then from Romania as some sources believe. Some live in the Balkan region also.
The way you guyz understand indian music ..... I can say your ancestors are possibly indians
You guys should cheek out “ voice of nepal “ season 6 is coming soon!!❤❤
Art, Dance, Music, Vedic studies of chanting mantras and the songs where debating with God, praising the Lord, complaining the Lord, Treating lord as own child, all this is a very important part of Indian Culture since the Ancient times, That's why there are so many popular Religious songs in India. Perfect vocabulary to chant mantra is extremely important, same with the dance form..
Efra, Complete this..

This is heartwarming
Kathak dancer adopted the flamenco elements
Your next combination should be Kathak Fusion. Kathak fusion is a dance, it's still Kathak, but you dance to Bollywood songs. Like the song Slow motion, the one with Shreya in it. It's more of an Item song dance thing. You should listen to Kumar Sharma, he choriographs Kathak fusion dances like that. Sorry, I'm not good at explaining this.
Guys I am requesting you since long please check Anjali Gaikwad's Indian idol performance She is a young Classical singer.
I was there, that was amazing
Genetic studies link Romani to Indian populations, specifically to the Punjab and Rajasthan regions. Linguistic analysis reveals Romani language roots in Indian languages (e.g., Hindi, Punjabi).
Captured artisans" theory is Some researchers propose Romani were Indian craftsmen (e.g., blacksmiths, musicians) enslaved by invaders (e.g., Persians, Arabs) and taken to the Middle East.
Can I get the link of the first video?
Romani or Roma are Indians from mainky Rajasthan and bit of Punjab region who migrated to Europe, America, South America etc and settled there as locals. They escaped via Hindukush mountains ( hindukush literally meant " killing of Hindus" by Mughals) Many assimilated as Europeans Americans and were slightly darker skinned and hid their identity and acted European American .
They escaped to Persia in 11th century and reached Europe in 14th century
Like
Famous
Charlie Chaplin
Michael Cain actor
Elvis Pressley ( was quite dark compared to Whites and hid his gypsy identity )
Led Zep lead singer Robert Plant of famous songs Stairway to heaven , Kashmir etc you can see him.identify with Moroccan gypsy bands etc due to that reason
Santana in SAmerica you area
Yul Brynner
Lots of soccer players
List of famous Romas in wiki
Very sad history for them...they escaped persecution by Mughals
The dancing is a bit doing "orientalism" like E. Said wrote about, but I'm not mad, it's not true but it's still true enough.
Kathak too has some Arabic influence.
Not even a little
The secpnd clip doesn't show what exactly represents kathak.. it is much more semi-classical so yo say, some mudras and postures are not donevin kathak rather in other classical styles in India... It has more folk elements!!
Seriously such a small world we live in 😅

The singing in the second pieces didn't sound like trained Indian classical singers, more like they were trying to match a more western style. So I wouldn't go by the similarities in that

Waleska you can see yourself you look 100% Indian
I think you should do a DNA checking to know your ancestry I bet you that you have a huge part of your DNA from Indian ancestors
Arab learned from India and while they were in beds with you they taught you the same. Indian music is perhaps the oldest and what else you see are the copies.
Indian dance is totally different from Flamenco. It can seem same but its not.
Top 250 songs of kishore kumar pls. 👿
