    Great video Tomas! It’s really all maths. If you’re using Adobe illustrator, you just need to take into account the stitch line (offset path -2/3/4mm) whatever it is. Then see if those numbers you now have, go into the number your pricking irons are.
    For example, a one card, card holder. If the piece is 100mm wide and the height is 50mm. And you’re using a 3mm stitch line, the new shape becomes 94mm wide and 44mm high.
    If your pricking irons are 4mm apart, 94 divides into 4 = 23.5 times and 44 divides into 4 11 times. You would need to change the width for everything to be flush. Which requires maths.
    This ONLY applies if you want everything to look uniform/symmetrical.

      In theory...
      if you do it with laser cut it will work. If you do it by hand always will be small inaccuracies and here helps this tip :) Even here you saw how much i needed to adjust, if ill be making same wallet again im 100% sure it wont be the same gap between these 2 marks again :)
      Only for upper pocket im paying attention when im creating in Illustrator, other distances im adjusting this way shown in video.

    Super nice tip. I just tried it today on a note cover I'm making and got a very nice result and a very clean look. I started leather crafting several month ago as a hobbie and sometimes as a side business, and I learned a lot with your tutorials. Thanks you for your great video.

    Hey Thomas. Would be great for a video on cutting straight lines from leather pieces and also how to assure the project is completely straight and flush.

      Im using cutting dies almost for everything, it makes extremely accurate cuts.
      If im creating something new and dont have cutting dies, best way for me is metal ruler, super sharp knife and also keep knife as much as possible straight angle when cutting.
      And for sure practice, practice, practice...

    Hello Tomas! You have very informative videos, I have learnt nice tips from you! How does those pliers work on corners? Or do you need to use the two prong pliers for that?

    • @strhandmade
      @strhandmade  10 месяцев назад +1

      There is 2 prong pliers, but i dont like it, they kinda makes to rough holes on corners, so i just use 2 prongs pricking irons on corners.

    So what are you doing? I don’t understand when you say put tension in forward?

    • @strhandmade
      @strhandmade  3 года назад +1

      The main point in this video dont punch your holes straight away, mark it before and check if it matches. If not adjust your holes with some tension backward (or forward if its more convenient)

    this was a great tip, i was just having this exact issue with my cardholders!
    whenever you are designing templates, do you factor in stitching hole distances?

    • @strhandmade
      @strhandmade  3 года назад +2

      I just pay attention to upper pocket when designing, other longer distances between these crucial points im adjusting on actual craft as shown in video.

    Hi! I bought the plier but when I make the holes with the pliers they pull apart the glued leather layers when I release them. Even when I'm squeezing the leather together with my fingers beside it. Anyone else have this issue?

    • @strhandmade
      @strhandmade  3 года назад

      Dont have this issue at all, maybe problem with your glue. Maybe it need more time to dry.

  • @Tinker.Studio

    The bigger part of this is that your patterns were drawn specifically to match the spacing of your irons.

    • @strhandmade
      @strhandmade  3 года назад

      And the more bigger part is, that its absolutely doesnt matter what size of your pricking iron is, because you can use this tip any way. The smaller step size of you pricking iron, the easier it would be to adjust.
