Opeth and Trivium, two of my favorite bands of all time, both with some of the best riffs, leads, solos, lyrics and vocals in metal. And then there’s Matt Heafy and Mikael Åkerfeldt. Two of the most thoroughly talented and charismatic dudes in the metal scene. I wonder if they’ve ever met, or if they would ever tour together? These are two guys who understand how to simply make great music and don’t care about sticking too strictly to a certain genre.
Two different worlds I think, Opeth have had that solid undercurrent success where as Trivium had a few years of top exposure...they wouldn't 'sell' as a dup performance on tour sadly and I am no Trivium fan but always appreciated them and Matt Is a down to earth dude...this cover proves that!

Saw you guys with Dream Theater on Dramatic Turn Of Events Tour in Houston. Great Show TRIVIUM put on. I Love Opeth too. Great cover of a killer song. Thanks Bro
Where the hell do you live where people don't know Opeth? What a godforsaken place that must be... hop over to Germany, lots of metal love going on here. You're always welcome here.
@Scathebane - probably in the USA, like me. I live in Arkansas and metal bands pretty much never come here. Germany on the other hand... that place is constantly being toured by amazing metal bands 24/7. The place must be a metalhead paradise. Seriously. In fact, it seems that way with all of the Germanic countries, especially the Scandinavian ones.
@@WarriorofSunlight I'd say it's time to get your butts over here then :) would be a nice change to see some likable faces for once. But if you do, stick to the south, people are a lot more welcoming here than in the north ;D
It is sickening that the editors would distort the beauty of this rendition with the meandering change of the B on Matty's shirt to a V in a deliberate attempt to single out someone for more ridicule just for more views....wtf?!
Not a bad cover, but this isn't impressive compared to the original, in fact his inability to hit some of the proper notes is cringe-worthy. He does the chorus pretty okay, but every verse half of the notes he's singing are off key or his voice breaks. Not to mention every second of this feels like he was rushing trying to hurry and finish the recording. no finesse to speak of, which normally if this were a regular cover, I wouldn't bother to point out his issues. but this is a professional musician covering one of the most prolific progressive songs of all time. coming from joe blow, okay. but this guy, this professional? nah dude. there's at least 10, not good, but great covers of this song, none of which by known professional musicians. then here's this, good, cover. nah dude. for opeths sake, sweer. but for his sake, hope he never does this cover live.
You can hear that he's approaching this one with great caution and respect
This is fucking awesome matt's voice is so much better now 🕶Mr Heafy should do an acoustic album
For sure!
it's this exact video that got me listening to opeth. thank you
I prefer Opeth version, but this is great too!

RESUMEN
LETRA
Stay with me a while
Rise above the vile
Name my final rest
Pored into my chest
Into the orchard I walk, peering way past the gate
Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait
Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead
Halo of death, all I see is departure
Mourner's lament, but it's me who's the martyr
Pledge yourself to me
Never leave me be
Sweat breaks on my brow
Given time ends now
Into the orchard I walk, peering way past the gate
Wilted scenes for us who couldn't wait
Drained by the coldest caress, stalking shadows ahead
Halo of death, all I see is departure
Mourner's lament, but it's me who's the martyr
Spirit painted sin
Embers 'neath…

He's wearing my mistresses' favorite Bathory t-shirt lol.🎉😂
Doesn't he have his own studio? Why not pimp this cover out?
Sometimes, all you need is an accoustic and a good voice
This is in my top 10 Opeth favorites. Love Trivium, and he definitely gave it a very respectful effort, but no one can compare.
Masterpiece.
I wanna 💋 away all your sadness.
my god, beautiful 😍😍
the world needs to know about this
I'm upset at the lack of views, dosh darnit

I watch this and think about romantic hostel takeovers...

It's pretty cool but the intended atmosphere is definitely absent. Kudos!
