Tilda Swinton deserved her Oscar. A brilliant screenplay with a stellar performance by Clooney.
This isn't a good movie. It's a great movie. A masterpiece. Brilliant, and what an ending. Worth every second of watching it.
Would have killed it at the oscars if not for There Will be Blood and No Country for Old Men, shockingly good year for movies.
Agree
@@CaptainFSUin retrospect, 2007 felt like the last great year for movies. Not that there haven’t been good movies every year, but my god, the amount of great films that came out that year is truly astounding. Even a “lesser film” by comparison to the big gems like We Own The Night was still a great little movie. Even on the international level, we were blessed with a film like The Banishment (from Russia). 2007 was a standout year in American cinema and Michael Clayton was one of the best of the year and the decade.
People don’t even understand how good this movie is.
Does it have action
@@wrightfamily7381 no. It sucks
💯
How have I never heard of this movie?
It was nominated for best picture trust me they understand
This is the most underrated movie of all time. This along with films such as Dekalog, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring, Toni Erdmann, and Burning are out my favorites of all time and yet I barely know anyone who has seen it. I even rate it higher than No Country for Old Men which came out the same year and won the Oscar for best picture.
Exceptional film, a masterpiece. Easily one of the best films of the 21st century
Just watched again last night.
Really grows on you. It feels real when you watch it.
I watched this movie several times..It was a great movie..George Clooney was at his best and the rest of the cast showed how a character played by a good actor will make you remember a scene, and want to watch it again , because it was that captivating.
Underrated movie. Solid performances by the entire cast.
RIP Tom Wilkinson 😢
I respect George Clooney for films like this and Syriana.
@Onigiri Otaku That movie was decent, but Michael Clayton and Syriana are both easily better films and performances.
I don't think there's a more scarily, soullessly efficient murder scene in movies than the one in Michael Clayton.
@callmecatalyst And then there is the beautiful "roll credits" ending. The expressions flitting across Clooney's face in that cab ride, as he's silently processing a range of emotions - that's cathartic viewing.
Indeed, I was literally just talking about the coldness and distance of that scene. I described it as being directed as if someone were changing a flat tire. What a memorable scene.
haunts me to this day.
Spectacular movie
This is a great, great movie. All of the actors are great but Clooney, Swinton and Wilkinson really stand out. Great writing, too. If you have not yet done so, I recommend that you take the time to watch this film.
Agreed👍🏿
A given year with SEVERAL great gritty films - REAL movies (imagine that) - seem few and far between nowadays .. 2007 was one of them .. Michael Clayton, Zodiac, American Gangster, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, and others ..
you are correct, 2007 was a godly year for movies
Yeah, like Spider-Man 3.
Juno was less gritty but was also great
The assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford
@@MattVincentNYC Also, Gone Baby Gone and Reservation Road
Master piece... everything happens in a such closed and small "space" with many brilliant acting work...hands down.
love this movie, so f*kin realistic and gritty.
Agreed
In my top 5 all time, nobody gives this the respect it deserves. A master stroke.
Brilliant film. We need more like it! REAL WORLD style bad guys that get taken down, not cheesy comic book villains. LOL.
Why have I never seen this? Looks like a must-watch this weekend!
One of my favorite movies of all time
R.I.P. Tom Wilkinson
Sydney Pollack too
Great movie! Very underrated.
When films were great. . .
Masterclass in how to create a trailer !!
U-North was actually a representation of Monsanto and the ending would have ultimately resulted in no real convictions and the scandal being buried. Unfortunately that's how the 'real' world operates.
This has to be the smartest script and dialogue I've ever seen in a film. I cannot believe it was written by one man.
Just finished watching it, this movie hit me in the gut . I luved it . All of it , it said everything without words .
I rarely rewatch a film. I've seen this movie four times.
This just came back to Netflix and I'm glad I finally watched it. I don't know why but I kept thinking Monsanto.
One of the best movies I have ever seen!
SOOOOO PUMPED TO WATCH this movie after reading the comments I’m so excited
I love George Clooney in this.
Brilliant. Can watch this over and over. Like all movies this director was involved in. Bourne as a scriptwriter. Duplicity.
It’s an excellent movie! I love Tilda in that role!
NakeyJakey brought me here.
Great movie! Reminded me of three days of the condor from the 70s. Clooney and Wilkinson should have won Oscars.
First I watched it I didn't have an impression of it though I found it thrilling but now yeah I see this as a masterpiece
Great underrated movie.
Very very very underrated
Top 10 film of the decade.
Every lawyer with a sense of decency has undergone one of those 'what the **** am I doing?" crises of conscience, that Tom Wilkinson's character goes through here.
Unfortunately, many lawyers don't have a sense of decency...
This movie is on Netflix, has been for a while, I ignored it because it didn't look interesting, but yesterday I decided to take a chance and watch--and I'm glad I did. A little hard for me to follow but a great movie nonetheless.
Just saw the trailer, unfortunately, I don't think its on Netflix anymore. I know I'm late, but I just heard of the movie today.
@@ronnie_blues It's on there now.
@@meluk6991 thank you for the update !!
@@ronnie_blues just watched it right before I commented. Hopefully, you'll like it.
@@meluk6991 thanks, hopefully I’ll have time to watch it this weekend
This is how you make a trailer for a movie.
I love George clooney
0:29 that actor looks so familiar. He was in some other movie
This film has aged exceptionally well
Amazing movie!!!
With the world more and more being controlled by megacorporations, it's amazing to see a drama film that treats them with brutal realism.
Got to get this movie.
I went to see this movie when it was released in 2007. I knew nothing about it, just went on the off chance.............I came out of that movie theatre and texted a friend: "I think I've just seen one of the best films ever made".
I’m about to watch this movie for the first time
*TOM WILKINSON* is one of the most underrated great actors...ufffssss
I agree. He’s one of my favourite British actors
I love it
This is happening right now!
The scene where he escapes the car bomb for a precious " moment" with 3 horses is , to me a very respectful acknowledgment to Steven Donaldson's work beginning with Lord fouls bane and Thomas covenant . Ur Lord the unbeliever . Great books , good film . What part do YOU play in the corporate gravy train ? Just asKing 💎
I just finished watching it and men oh men...it was pretty intense. I love it!!! ❤Highly recommended 👍👍👍
Looks like George Clooney's best role yet. Gonna try to find it!
Film stupendo. Chissà quante realtà rispecchia, chissà quanti finti suicidi.....
Sadly, a film that will still be relevant in 100 years. If we're still watching movies then, which we probably won't be, thanks in part to corporations like the ones portrayed in this film. People may tell some version of it around the campfire, though.
Dark, gloomy, twisted, with a grey atmosphere and deep characters. Is the film that Sidney Lumet never directed
This movie is only a 69% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes but I've seen it and it's a 9/10 movie. Watch it:)
Movie looks good!!, Can't wait for my copy to come in the mail. Ordered it off of ebay on blu ray
Was it worth it I just got it at goodwill for a dollar
@@wrightfamily7381 Yes the film is/was worth it! I loved every minute of the film. George Clooney was good!
@@facebook822 nice
I like Wilkinson, but Clooney cannot act to save himself. Every movie/show is acted the SAME. Like he's the same "person" every time.
I just downloaded SYRIANA and am gonna do the same for this masterpiece for my movie collection...
I love this movie. and I love a man in a suit---can't help myself....esp. if it's George Clooney.
This is a fabulous film, serious, thoughtful, and so relevant as Syntagma is just being accused of causing Parkinson's with their chemicals.
Before Andor...
Before Rogue One...
I wouldn't mind seeing this movie, either.

this is a real big boy drama alongside flics like State of Play, Miss Sloane only comes close....they don't make it like them anymore

A reunion of a couple of actors that did the sitcom “Roseanne”
Tilda Swinton is like Furiosa of Mad Max in this...
You mean stupid?
Selim Kuriş Vay be şu filmin fragmanına da yorum yapan bir Türk buldum :D
Who's here after the PBD podcast?
Brilliant films like Michael Clayton never do well at the box office. The movie going masses like to sit back with their popcorn and be assaulted with explosions and car chases they don,t like to think
I was bored because Clooney gets on my nerves. He just Clooney. He's not THAT character. Not in E.R. and not in anything else.
He's been skating by on his looks for a very long time. A charm I never understood.
I got here for Tom Wilkinson, who I really like. His voice in particular.
And this is the type of movie I WOULD like.
I don't like the script.
I only give a show 5 minutes to show if the script it worth it, as normally you don't get anything better by watching longer and it's really the least they can do, for 100 mil: be entertaining in 5 minutes.
I hate that talk in beginning with my whole heart
This trailer makes the movie look like crap. Thank gosh the movie's outstanding in reality.
Really? I thought the trailer was pretty good. Any trailer that gives me goosebumps after I've already seen the movie and know what's happening, is pretty tight in my opinion. And yes, I agree, the movie is outstanding.
spoiler -
film would be serious, but the ending is infantile
also there is to less fuss about this book to take it as another character - I didn't mind though
music is great, love the scene with horses, Tom Wilkinson is one superb actor, just like I said this ending goes for bummer, I was under impression throughout the film, yet its finish ruined everything
już naprawdę wolałabym żeby się skończyło na tym jak spitala pod tę górkę
Why is Matt Damon in the thumbnail for this?
He’s not it’s George Clooney
Lol, whites look the same?
Not even close bro..
I tried asking Google, in several ways, why most all of the cast members in Michael Clayton were in Law & Order before. But certain (easy) questions seem to stump or be too hard for the big ole Google box to compute, and in this day.and age. (!?) 🤔
A great movie but this would never happen 😅😂
I believe he would have won best actor if not for the ungodly performance of Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood. I had always given Clooney a pass as an actor but my opinion changed when I saw him in this.
Omg thats the priest of Emily Rose exhorcism!!!
Denzel Washington Turned Down ‘Seven & Michael Clayton.
Too bad it wasn't for Clooney, who kinda gets on my nerves. He's the same guy in everything.
His aunt, Rosemary, who wasn't an actor, acted WAY better than he ever did in a few minutes on E.R. as a delusional old lady, than he did over the whole show.
WTF podcast sent me here
Just finished rewatching this movie. Great film but this has got to be one of the most misleading trailers in history.
i got to tell you that the architect of our defense was arrested for running naked in the streets , what sickness are you talking about ?
They knew about glyphosate back in 2007? 😱
Um...you might not wanna go look at how long they KNEW about asbestos, then. Lol.
The miners were dying of it 100+ years ago, yet I have newspapers advertising asbestos tiles (ceiling, not/never Armstrong, and flooring, DEFINITELY Armstrong) as late as 1975.
They knew because mesothelioma and asbestosis can't be anything else. Especially in young people.
They're extremely nasty things to get.
Don't go looking into the list of how many chemicals come out every year abd how few are actually tested.
In fact, your eye shadow or blush might very well have talc in it. Either can easily have asbestos. See the baby powder lawsuits. Again, they HAD to know.
Shiva the god the death👌
Great movie.
Trailer not that great ...
I do not think Tilda admitted any guilt at the end of this movie of which Clooney recorded.. Didn't really make any sense.. Tilda would say she was saying anything she could to get rid of crazy George clooney
incorrect...she said she would pay him millions to keep his mouth shut...
Obviously no one in history has been more wrong than you nooge.. If you were smart enough to understand my comment you would have realized that any woman would say anything to get a crazy person like Clooney away from them.. Tilda did not admit guilt because she was under duress. I guess you have never watched cop shows. I think George was a suspected murderer in this movie..
Michael good one.. Have you ever heard the phrase ''Under duress"? The recorded "convo" means nothing because of duress unless the jury hates you.. I think I fast forwarded through some of this silly movie.. I think I have watched a hundred movies since this movie...... if the incriminating memo copies were convincing I would think a grand jury would indict a ham sandwich... of course I would throw thousands of my travelers checks that I keep in my wallet for an emergency at George Clooney if he accosted my wife..LOL
SPOILER ALERT THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Underwhelming trailer
Amazing film. Terrible trailer
George is very affable and seems to be a devoted husband and father.
But he's not a good actor.
I think the movie was boring! :(
Bad script and I was hoping for WAY less annoying Clooney than Tom Wilkinson (sp?)
