I really enjoy your talks, they are helping me a lot in my life right now, I really appreciate you sharing about what it is like to be a monk, I may go down this path someday, peace be with you from Poland.

Love the cat in the beginning. *True Fact* Cats only use their meows to talk to humans, not each other. The only time they meow to communicate with other felines is when they are kittens to signal to their mother. 🕊🐱
Hello! I am currently living in London and was wondering what kinds of daily activities could I do to practice buddhism daily, besides meditation. I have no religious background and don't know much what to do, how to show gratitude, or chanting mantras or so, like day to day practical habits. Thank you so much for your videos 💚
I’m sure he would suggest Sila and Panya, and keeping the five precepts. Maybe someone can find the name of the chanting book he uses, I can’t remember but it’s been mentioned several times. On top of that, I’m sure he would recommend on top of anapanasati, to incorporate mindfulness into your day, so maintaining mindfulness throughout all activities. That’s maybe a start.

The best place to start is to absorb as much information you can about buddhism, in this case, theraveda buddhism that this monk practices. Understanding yourself, meaning the body and the mind, is the first step. Meditation is generally understood as the way to better understand oneself. The most important piece of practice is to learn what parts of buddhism work for YOU, not anyone else. What you understand about buddhism, how you feel about the teachings, and what aspects of buddhism resonate with you.

I wonder if you could reflect and give a talk on boundaries. How you protect the Dhamma in you, the space you live and how you detach & deposess in Buddhism. Could you also consider the difference of that in the Western traditions such as Christianity that seems much more forceful in 'casting out' rather than my experiences in Buddhism is that things will naturally leave or not be attracted to you, or you leave a place in a peaceful fashion. There is a story about monks having trouble meditating in a place (I forget the name of the place) because of the spirits that live there. The monks went to the Buddha asking for help with this... can you remind me. I hope this makes sense.

Monks should not keep pets, from the scriptures after the Buddha
@@individual-e6y Nobody keeps a pet, the pet keeps you.
@@lawnmower1066 this is a monk rule.
@@individual-e6y Maybe, certainly not a cats rule though!

I recommend a book called Daily Buddhist Practice by Alan Peto.
I’m sure he would suggest Sila and Panya, and keeping the five precepts.
Maybe someone can find the name of the chanting book he uses, I can’t remember but it’s been mentioned several times.

I would love to know your view on the difference between self and ego. Or if there even is a difference.
Thanks

To be responsible for my karma but not knowing karma, how does that work? Faith?
Accountability?
Karma is no different than gravity, friend. When you toss a rock, does the rock require faith to return to the ground?
