I don't mean this as a hate comment or anything. The video is really well made, but the advice is problematic in my opinion. A hundred dollar device is not really necessary to get good sounds, and sending drummers off to buy one is just wasting their money. that hundred dollars could buy some new stands, a new pedal, maybe save that money and spend it on a new cymbal? Drumming is expensive! As for the snare sound, that snare sounds really wobbly and dead. The heads may have some specific tuning ratio, but the drum is not well tuned. I'd recommend maybe lowering the tension on the reso? reducing the tension on the reso really has helped me. Also, toss this wires in the trash as soon as possible! Too many strands! They are so buzzy and are choking out the drum! A drum should sound good even without being close miked. this does not sound good at all.
here are some videos that have really helped me learn to tune:
This is a simple snare tuning video. I followed it, and have tricked people into thinking my super cheap beginner snare was a boutique high end snare

here is a video about why tuning by prescriptions (telling someone exact actions to get a specific sound) is problematic

this one is about the problems with too many snare wires

At this point I feel like I'm probably coming off as someone advertising this channel. I am not affiliated with them in any way and don't get anything out of this, I just really love their videos, and they have really helped me improve my drum sounds.
Anyways, I don't mean any hate or anything, I really just want all drums to sound as good as possible :3.

It's all personal I am not a fan...that guy is talking to much. I once didn't agree...was about using a Tunebot and they removed my reacting. They don't like if someone has an other option. If they invented drums 🤔
