BEST video on how to use a cane properly! What helped me get it right was your comment about "dancing" with your cane - legs together, together, together like dancing with a partner. I will be repeating that to myself until it just feels normal. It really took the pressure off my left knee, and I injured it pretty severely. Thank you for making your video so easy to understand and for not taking 10-15 minutes to explain it like some of the other videos I watched. Much appreciated!

It's a little easier to me to remember "up with the good, down with the bad" to know which leg should go first when going up or down stairs. Use the good leg to go up first, but use the bad leg to go down first. This is a good video showing the correct height measuring, the right and wrong ways to walk with the cane. Thanks so much!

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I didn't realize I was doing so many things wrong. Having recently {Nov 4th} had total knee re-construction surgery,I have been very nervous, and, insecure using the cane. Crutches were far too dangerous for me, even after advice from physio regarding climbing, and, descending stairs. Now,after just a few minutes practice I feel much more secure with the cane. Thank you for your presentation. It's no nonsense, excellent advice. Well done!

I was using a cane for a while & my physical therapist told my to work out my core muscles so I wouldn’t have to rely on a cane. Got a Swiss ball & started an hour a day core work out. 3 weeks later I hung up the cane. My biggest fear was a cane would lead to walking sticks then a walker then a wheelchair and finally a scooter. Before anyone starts that chain they need to work out their core.

18 years ago, I had bi-lateral knee replacements. Now, the right one has come unglued at the Tibia and there is some degeneration of the bone of the tibia to where it hurts every time I step on my right foot. I have tried to use my cane the way you show, but it does not help my pain as I am walking. I find myself wanting to put the cane on the floor in my right hand as I step up, down, or walking to ease the pain in my right knee. If I step out with my right foot and the cane in the left hand, I am not relieving the pressure and pain in the knee, whereas, if I step out with my right foot I use my cane in the right hand to release the pressure and pain in my right knee.

I use my cane for balance. I tend to fall to the right so the cane is on my right side. Most videos show the hieght of the cane to be at wrist level with the arm only slightly bent. This does not keep me from tipping over. My cane is adjusted for the handle to be at the bottom of my hip. I think therapists should differentiate heights used for support of injury vs. prevention of falls

Took me a while to realise you shouldn't put too much weight onto the cane. It causes imbalance and stress to different muscles and tendons etc. It's mainly to aid balance and slightly take pressure off the injured leg. I have sciatica affecting my left hip, buttock and extending to my ankle. I'm doing physio including core strength training. It all depends on what your injury is. Take doctors advice.

Now all that is left to do is to get Hugh Laurie to play me in a tv series

You ever break into someone's house?
I came to this vid bc I'm watching the series and someone asked him if he ever tried to use the cane correctly and I didn't know how to correctly use it
