It’s 2020, the world is but a giant oil spill, only one track remains. God, angry with men ruining his perfect race track, made it rain oil for 40 days and 40 nights on the whole world, except the track. Of the blue planet only persists an oily sea, and a small island, with a sad track on it.
Starting on the 21st day, God will introduce a caution clock, where every 20 minutes, a caution is thrown out, and will also introduce segmented races, so the remaining drivers would have to endure crawling around the track at 15 kph for hours at a time. On the 27th day, God will introduce “The Chase”, where 16 drivers who got wins or was insanely consistent would have their points completely reset and would compete for a championship. Everyone else? They might as well not even compete in the next 14 days. The chase is divided into 4 segments, where the drivers either win a race or be extremely consistent to make it into the next segment, with 4 being kicked out in every segment. The final segment is run on the final day, and who, of the 4 remaining chase drivers, finishes highest will win the “championship”. Oh. I may have described basically what NASCAR is now. Yes, they’re trying to *attract* fans with this system. So happens that it isn’t working, and they’re destroying their once loyal fan base in the process.
The tone of this video seemed very different from your other "How to Ruin a Race Track" videos, even before going into what this series is all about and what others think of it. Darker, unpleasent yet undeniable. I love it. Keep ruining race tracks like you do because there's no better way to remind us of how great the tracks we love are. P.S. when you were hoverimg over the back straight alternate layout junction I thought to myself "surely he is going to connect up those for a big chicane", only to see you create an even smaller and tighter chicane with less run off and more straight to accelerate in preceding it making the chicane probably worse for racing and safety than what I had in mind, which is perhaps the essence of ruining a racetrack: changing something not to make it the best it can be in terms of safety and racing, but somehow the worst of both.
I know you said you'd never do a "Ruin a Street course", but what if you did a thing where you were given a satellite view of a fairly large part of a city and you had to create the best racetrack you could out of that swatch of streets?
Fill in the massive run-off section with horizontal black & whites stripes so anyone who tries to drive through it will have an epileptic seizure. Seriously, how could you have missed this?
Someone needs to take these ruined racetracks of yours and model them so that we can experience them in a verity of simulators. Yes, I am sick in the head. Someone, please do it.
Another nice thing about the Bathurst 12 Hour is that it is broadcast online in full for free, something an internet citizen like me appreciates very much
Foxxo wow, you recognized the constant and (almost) never changing passage of time. Good job, are you going to freak out in 5 more months when your 7 month old comment reaches one year old? Or are you going to have an existential crisis because you’ve become a whole year older since your stupid idiotic comment.
So we went from one "Road" to the other one. The track now looks like a gear lever lying down. Also, that "no street tracks"-condition kinda reduced the chance to "improve" Australian tracks. But hey, there's still tracks like Sandown, Hidden Valley, Barbagallo or Eastern Creek left :) Although it's true, none of them being ruined would feel as much as a fist applied to the facial area like Bathurst :p
Sepang, in Malaysia, could be a good track to destroy. It's not particularly popular, but a very out-of-the-box choice with lots of different routes you could choose.
I think this may have been the first time you went a bit against your series "ethos", as told in that amazing road america episode. I felt like you went a little bit overboard. One of the great aspects of the other episodes is that you could actually imagine those monstrosities being raced at. This one though, it's the first one I didn't get that feeling. Stuff like the first corner leaving no room for a pit exit, or the tarmac runoff that doesn't mesh with the surroundings. I don't know, I don't want to sound like I am telling you how to run the series, after all its your channel and your idea (I would never have had such a genious idea for a series like this) and I still think you did a good job with this one. Just trying my hand at some suggestions.
Watching you laying that straightaway at the short/long split, the dog looks at me funny as I'm sitting here chanting 'no, no, oh no, you monster...' Love this series, it really is "fun with blasphemy". You run PCars at all? I'm stuck on PCars 1...miners are gobbling up GPUs again, prices have gotten beyond stupid...but if you're even half as much fun to race with as you are to watch doing commentary on race tracks...
That's a shame. I was thinking more social than competitive...I don't have the time to give a competitive run the attention it deserves...but if we don't have a game in common then it's a moot point. Either way! Keep up the blasphemy, it's so much fun...any interest in doing Sebring, Watkins Glen, or Sears Point / Infineon / Sonoma / Whatever it's called this week?
This might not be new and in fact is fairly old being released 2 years ago, not to mention this is being commented at like 4am AWST as I am down here in vic and it’s around 7am and I absolutely LOVE motorsports I literately adore it and I find this interesting and fun to watch just because of the commentary and how he “Fucks up” the track and just makes it hilarious. I genuinely do like this series and hope it continues because I recently found this channel and love the videos so please do keep this up I love it!
I got to admit, I love these series of videos. I do find them what they are intended to be; amusing and says take a look at what you have and not what you might have or want. If you do requests, I have a circuit that you could alter because everyone says it's one of the classics and that would be Silverstone over here in the UK
I must say, you're good a making this kind of calm and relaxing content, pretty much what I needed after my working shift. As for track suggestion I'd say why not Silverstone? or F1's newest addition to it's calendar Paul Ricard?
I would love to see Circuit de la Sarthe in both "Super Serious Track Guides" and "How To Ruin A Race Track"! It is, in my opinion, the best race track ever!
While you may think that doing a series where you fix racetracks might be boring, I still think you should give it a try, just once, and see what happens.
Your using Photoshop not instead of gimp? I just got accustomed to gimp and added a few personal touches to my local go karting track I race at every Saturday ( positive changes, I kept the original layouts while doing what I thought was cool) but I'm going to be using gimp got awhile now because I'm cheap and know how to use it now. Thanks for the ideas!
I also love Bathurst but the place where I live right now is also pretty awesome, because I only live a few km away from the Red Bull Ring (it and Bathurst are my favorite tracks).
Someone got there already. Several times. How much is left of the pre-1992 one? part of the old pit straight? Used to be an astonishing monument to speed - I was lucky enough to see a late 80s race - but then came the 90 deg bends. And the bends. And the bends. Doesn't even have the Daily Express bridge anymore...
I still can't believe that you weren't inspired by Herman Tilke and his FIA Grade 1 parking lots. The funny part is, his old work (i.e. Nurburgring GP) wasn't nearly as awful and even Hockenheim wasn't really bad except compared to what was before. I do have to wonder if it's the FIA, not necessarily Tilke, that causes the problems.
That's 100% correct. that and the fact that Tilke doesn't choose where new circuits will be built - that's up to the people with the cash. I've wanted to do a video discussing how much hate Tilke really deserves for some time now. May do that in the next few months. Bilster Berg and Atlanta Motorsports Park are two Tilke circuits that really show what the guy can do with the right terrain and more freedom from regulations.
The FIA has become a greed circus that poisons everything it touches. Their fees are horrendous and their management unbelievably inept, and when they're not racing they're promoting green technology, or road safety, or autonomous cars, etc. etc. I've actually quoted a post from an article on the FIA's attempt at a drift event to show what people are saying about the FIA. "FIA is poison. Look at F1, WEC, WTCC, they can't govern *BEEP*. Every series they run, they let budgets get out of control, manufacturers take over, and it becomes a farce. And it's not new. Sportscar racing has been absolutely ravaged by the FIA's *BEEP* poor leadership, again and again. The FIA is responsible for setting the safety grades at circuits. You know, all those FIA grade 1 parking lots that host F1 events. It's actually a little comical that the first FIA drift event was held in a parking lot - it's what they do. These clowns are going to push circuit owners for upgrades and safety standards that are unreasonable. In many ways, they're like FIFA or the IOC, the way they come to town, make demands for insanely expensive facilities, and then hit the road. The more tax payer money spent, the better. Aside from ruining racing, the FIAs main objective is road Safety - kind of a conundrum in the context of Drifting. Not saying I support Drifting on the street, but knowing where the sport comes from, what it represents, having the sanctioning body of the top level drift comp also be about promoting road safety; is a little like the UFC promoting non-violent conflict resolution. The two things just don't belong in the same room together. The FIA is also about being green, as witnessed by their push of FE, and hybrids in F1 and WEC. I can't even imagine what the greenies at the FIA are going to do with Drifting. It won't be good. Get ready for fuel flow limits, MGUKs, PUs, ERS KERS and DERS. In conjunction with road safety, the FIA is also interested in promoting autonomous vehicles, evidenced by their creation of Robo race. So I ask, *BEEP* does the FIA, a green organization that is focused on promoting safety and autonomous vehicles, have to do with Drifting - a sport that at its very core, is the direct counter culture to what the FIA stands for. If this actually goes anywhere, they're going to do 2 things. 1, they'll homogenize safety, meaning that any drift car will need to have an FIA approved safety cell. It'll start with comp cars, making pro drift cars even more expensive, but it will trickle down to grass roots cars via circuit insurance. Basically, any local track you drift at, their insurance won't cover them if you get injured in a car that doesn't have an FIA approved safety cell. The days of taking a reasonably inexpensive, unmodified street car to the track for some Drifting will be over - certainly going door to door, or next to any obsticles (pilon Drifting in large parking lots might be ok). 2, they will turn the sport over to the manufacturers. The manufacturers will build the motors and suspension, which they'll attatch to the safety cell they buy from the FIA. It's a way for the manufacturers to stop Frankenstein engine swaps, while being able to sell you a purpose build drift car, similar to what we see with GT3 cars, or TCR cars. People in the Drifting community need to do their research on the FIA. Look at the history of F1, and it's junior catagories. Look at sportscar racing, and Touring Car racing. Drifting doesn't need a hogonized world championship, scored by computers. Seriously, what the *BEEP* is this. Let the regional comps stand as they are, the top comps in their areas, with their different quirks and different interpretations of what Drifting is. Then, once a year, host 1 tournament, just like the NCAA, and invite all the top drivers from around the world to come. Host the event in a different place each year. Offer financial support to get less funded drivers from far away to the tournament. And invite drivers based on merit, on who's been exciting over the last 12 months, not just based on who's ticket the right boxes. Look at what the FIA has done to the WTCC. That's really all that needs to be said." Original post was from Speedhunters and swore up a storm.
Being new to sims this is the first track I ended up memorizing because I drove the piss out of it I guess it’s my favorite besides Sarthe from that fact alone
Would you be interested on doing a video where you take one of the ruined designs on r/RaceTrackDesigns and appraise them with your own expertise? I'd love to see that. Also I'd like to see you take on QR. Should be tough with the limited resources
I dont know how complicated it is to build tracks for sims like rfactor or assetto corsa and what you need for this but maybe you should try to continue this series based on that, so in the end you can drive a lap on the newly designed track
Let's be honest, this should have been the backing track to this vid

Be brave and ruin the damn Bathurst (fantastic track!! but I think these hill-S-es needs some straightening and the superspeed right before the end needs some brutal chicane there... just be brave. This episode is fantasctic!! love it! (don't have iRacing, so cant really torture myself with club version..) ------ My 2018 celebration was obvious - some AC racing... After midnight, my roomate came for the glass of wine. (she is 10 years younger student of marketing), we had some nice conversation, she tried to convince me that Apple, Google and other corporations, their purpose no.1 is "make people's life better"... ehm. So..., this took a while and than I continued with my "geeking"... All the best in 2018!!
Nice video, and goodness me, you have seriously ruined this great circuit. 10/10 Tilke simulation. (It'd be a shame to have something like this done to such a great track in real life.) Are you going to be doing this with game circuits like Gran Turismo's Trial Mountain or something like that? It would be interesting to see something other than IRL circuits ruined.
Who disliked dis vid is someone who thinks race tracks are perfect. Well as u can see there not cuz this man is making them better (cuz there not perfect)

If it keeps raining, Mr Whiting will deploy a Safety Car start for safety concerns :C

Ruin Road Atlanta? I thought that was what the club circuit was for!
lol

GTA V races anyone?
Fill in the massive run-off section with horizontal black & whites stripes so anyone who tries to drive through it will have an epileptic seizure. Seriously, how could you have missed this?

No it's gotta be massive, flashing, neon signs
I see you also play GTA Online user-created stunt races
Paul Ricard.

Someone, please do it.
I was thinking the same thing. I would love to drive them back to back.
Watching a stream if an staged in them would be hilarious
Another nice thing about the Bathurst 12 Hour is that it is broadcast online in full for free, something an internet citizen like me appreciates very much
Now you *have* to ruin Bathusrt.
strait line through the downhill S's???
That final product is a beautiful disaster
You've got to ruin Sonoma Raceway and Laguna Seca next! Those are prime real estate for a good Tilke treatment.
Dr. Weird Tilke treatment, is that an official term now? XD
Coined, copyrighted and everything. :D
Can only imagine how long it would take to ruin the Nordschleife
Is there even enough time left for this Earth for that?
No barriers all runoff
They could flatten part of it and remove the entire circuit and redraw it with the Abu Dhabi layout
THE DRIFT LOOP AS TURN 1 IM UPSET
How to fix Fuji wouldn't even need a video. Just go back in time to the 80s.
Please make a track guide of Nordschleife!
Nah, that's going a little too far. Plus it would take hours.
5K subscriber special?
On the subreddit he says "Aaagggghhh I'm very sorry, but that won't happen. I can't do Super Serious Track Guides for circuits I enjoy!"
Come on man, I was about to go to bed and you only go and upload this!
You should do Cota next!! The ammunition is all there!!!
How to ruin a racetrack: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Roadcourse

You should destroy Interlagos (BRAZILIAN F1 CIRCUIT) the backyard of Senna, Barrichello and Fittipaldi.
Ever seen what Interlagos *used* to look like? it was almost twice as long!
Sepang, in Malaysia, could be a good track to destroy. It's not particularly popular, but a very out-of-the-box choice with lots of different routes you could choose.
Oh no.. please .. stop, you are killing me.. (and the racetracks)
Oh SouthPawRacer... you had me 2:47 with the oil slick. I'm crying laughing. Somehow I didn't see it coming from you, hahaha.
Interlagos! XD
nahhhh interlagos was ruined at its creation lol
This is why we can't have nice things.
The skit in the beginning was hilarious. Love this series!
This gives me suicidal thoughts.
you must resist the herman tilke voice
edit: just heard you say, the many herman tilke refrences, i thought i was original

I live like 30min away from this track and I'd personally like to thank you for making our tourism market thrive
ooh! I have a great idea for a short video. Take Pocono Raceway and make it an oval or a rectangle.
Seth Hurley or take the old pocono road course and add 100 second gear turns, to add onto the 8 there all ready was

No, history shows that one of the necessities for Road Atlanta is a back straight that you are able to land a light plane on.
Would you be interested on doing a video where you take one of the ruined designs on r/RaceTrackDesigns and appraise them with your own expertise? I'd love to see that. Also I'd like to see you take on QR. Should be tough with the limited resources
Ruin monza pls
Its already been done. Get rid of the silly chicanes. Get rid of the Ascari chicane!
I dont know how complicated it is to build tracks for sims like rfactor or assetto corsa and what you need for this but maybe you should try to continue this series based on that, so in the end you can drive a lap on the newly designed track
For the first time i decided to do a single lonely and quiet night so bed at ten pm awoke twenty eighteen
My mans SouthPawRacer lives in Perth confirmed!
That looks like something what Tilke would design...
I don't think you can make Silverstone any worse. I dare you to try.
this whole series is a crime against humanity
Make a super serious track guide about daytona speedway's motorcycle course
SILVERSTONE!!!
Almost sounded like regular car reviews
The one thing I said when you started this series was "I swear to god if Rhys touches Road Atlanta...."....... you're dead to me Rhys
[Enya's "Only Time" plays faintly in the background]
Let's be honest, this should have been the backing track to this vid
Be brave and ruin the damn Bathurst (fantastic track!! but I think these hill-S-es needs some straightening and the superspeed right before the end needs some brutal chicane there... just be brave.
This episode is fantasctic!! love it! (don't have iRacing, so cant really torture myself with club version..)
------ My 2018 celebration was obvious - some AC racing...
This has actually improved the track. Original Road Atlanta is one of the worst tracks ever.
I clicked immediately when I saw this in my feed.
Brands Hatch would be a nice challenge
You should head to Perth Motorplex and watch some dirt late models and sprint cars sometime. Definitely not a Fairbury but it’s a cool racetrack
You keep ruining my favourite racetracks, I love it
Hey. Thanks for shouting out r/racetrackdesigns
Plz do Silverstone and Brandshatch.
Ruin Laguna Seca. We know it's possible, because if we're being honest, the Corkscrew wouldn't be that great if it weren't for elevation change.
Just flatten it - the whole circuit wouldn't be much without the elevation changes. The old short one was kinda ferocious but had even less corners...
Who disliked dis vid is someone who thinks race tracks are perfect. Well as u can see there not cuz this man is making them better (cuz there not perfect)
In 2019 I was getting something near this track on the day of the Petit Le Mans, and for the last 20 minuets they let me and my dad in for free
This is like reddit 50/50 for me except you're guaranteed to see horrific half. bUT I pleasure for wanting see moor
10k sub special, How to ruin a Race track Le Mans
Still waiting for turning Fuji into the new one, 30 second video
I'm glad I live close to Road America
Assen in The Netherlands wants to host an F1 race. They only need minor adjustments the FIA said. Make some "minor adjustments" to it please
Hope you plan on making a video on the 12h of bathurst :)
I plan to make a vlog of my experience for sure!
Ruin Mazda Raceway
This hurts me on a personal level.
What if you saved junk bits from courses (i.e. the club layout turns) to use in later episodes?
I have never seen something so beautiful yet so horrible in my life
