I used to see my big brother playing this when I was little back in the 90s. These sounds are so familiar, they take me back in time. This ending always made me so so sad, I almost cried everything he lost... and he didn't win many times 😂😂😂
Dude I was so focused on beating the boss I had no idea the girl got crushed in the background! And she does not scream or anything either. Then of course after you beat him there’s no way to go back ugh.
It IS possible to defeat Zeed in time without the POW... but you REALLY need to execute the fight perfectly pretty much (especially on Hardest if you have the initial HP value, because Zeed's counterstrike will 1-shot you) and if you have no Shurikens (Kunais) AND no POW, then is impossible as you can't deal enough damage to Zeed (you can do it without the barrier magic if you're good enough to avoid Zeed's counter), at minimum you need around 40 Shurikens to be able to make the fight while delaying for long enough the celling falling on Naoko... which you can by shooting a Kunai on either the left or the right wall on it's hole (and if possible 2 barrier magic to tank the counters from Zeed... especially on Hardest with the initial HP value). But yeah, this is the ending nearly everyone got on their 1st time completing the game (I got very lucky on my very 1st time beating the game that I was able to reach with the POW while avoiding the 1st counter by mere luck before I used the barrier magic to cheese out Zeed).
I know this is just a game, but for him must have been so sad see your wife die that way! I don't like this end, i prefer the other. Anybody prefer the other ending too?
The first time I ever completed this game after ages and ages of trying, I got this bad ending. If you look to the left, you can throw your shurikens into a gap that delays the wall coming down on your damsel, but you can only do it for so long and I'd always run out of time. I guess that was the point, you couldn't really deal with both problems at once. Basically, if you don't have the power up at this stage and maintain it, your chances of defeating Zeed and keeping your fiance alive, is virtually zero.
I Have A Video Where I Got The Good Ending Without Power Up's...There Are 2 Gaps On The Left And Right Walls That You Can Throw Knives Into...And Yea...It's A Juggling Act That You Are Going To Have Problems With If You Didn't Select 120 Shuriken's At The Beginning Of The Game...But Definitely Possible :)
@@lentarian4065 Ahhh, I didn't even realise that there was one on the right, because Zeed pretty much doesn't let you past him, unless I assume you use the Super Jump Shinobi Art. But yeah, I never could complete the game without losing Naoko, which was always pretty depressing!
@@lentarian4065 I recently did it and I had around 83 Shurikens (I had the game settings on it's default 50) and I nearly used 50 of them before I defeated Zeed (one time on a "Fan" type air attack by accident, but still it wasn't a big deal in the end), and I was playing it on Hardest with the initial life-bar (the life-bar increases with your score and if you had to use a continue... especially on Hardest... Zeed can potentially 1-shot you with his counter).

I was thinking the same thing, if I did get the good ending theme for the bad ending I swear I would have cried right then and there.
