this video is very much appreciated cause i had the exact same hinge pin failure (left side too) on my 05 CRV. a couple of lessons learned i thought i'd share ... 1) prying off the outer layer/cover is very delicate. dont do it on a super hot day cause the plastic is softer and damages more easily - even when you're trying to be careful. 2) i found that my flat head screwdriver was too harsh for separating the 2 panels (caused damage) but a thin puddy knife was better. slide it in and twist. 3) you're separating layers that are glued only (no locking teeth or snaps) so, as you pry it apart, don't freak out at the tearing noises you're hearing - it sounds like you're destroying it but you're not. you're just separating glued parts. 4) like Brent said, whatever you use (i used a small nail), make sure the fit is tight so it won't work its way out again. then just glue the 2 panels back together again with clamps. thanks so much Brent!
thanks for video, i used simple rivets. They have already flat head. Flat head goes and stay deadly in place from inside. Outside what left i cut off, left 3-4mm and works now like new.
That was a great video I really appreciate you showing us how to do that the same hinge Broke on my shelf compartment while I was removing all the accessories to replace my lightbulbs in my cluster switches for the AC and fan, again I really appreciate this video.
Brent - just came across your post and hoping you can help me with an issue in my 2005 Honda CRV, relating to the same door. Yesterday one of my hearing aids fell in the space at the bottom, where the door swivels open. I can only open the door slightly or it squeezes the hearing aid. I tried sliding my credit card along the space at the bottom to pop it out but can’t retrieve it. Is there a way to pop the door off without opening it more than one inch? Will be most grateful if you can advise me. Thank you!
im having an issue with the compartment, but im not sure its the same thing, it opens and closes evenly, but there is no snap or spring to the operation when i do it. if i go over a rough road the door will flop open sometimes, like there is no tension behind it

I had the same problem and solved thanks to you. Greetings from Costa Rica my friend. Helped me a lot. Thank you.
I found it much easier to remove the whole compartment and do it from the outside. It's only 1 screw
Thank you for this! I’ve been looking for a solution to fix mine!
If you can do this just find a local Pick and Pull and get another one....real easy to swap out i was just about to this and i'm like wait a min. lol
