    Good lord why does Honda put the damn oil filter in a hard to reach area where it's guaranteed to spill oil all over the frame

      Lol I know right? such a pain every time

      It's so that you can oil the chassis at the same time so it doesn't rust away

      same with my wife's old 05 civic, way too high up there, always spilled. even if i loosen the filter and let it trickle it still spilled everywhere. I saw a mechanic once use tin toil to shape the way the oil was going to drain. have yet to try it though

    I have both a 2004 and a 2008 CRV. There is no comparison how much easier it is to replace the oil filter on the 2008.

      Oh for sure, I hate how Honda has their filter by the damn axles, it gets all over the place when the oil drips down.

    i change oil on my 2006 crv every 3000 miles, is that enough ? it seems my crv VSA start to turn on more when I reach 3000 miles mark, last year I had this problem ( I was running 4000 miles, the VSA appeared more, and when I ask a mechanical about the VSA they didnt know , on the scanner, nothing appeared.. until one of them told me that using the oil for more that 3000 miles is too much).and others said that I can use the 5w30, yesterday I changed the oil at almost 3000 miles, but I havent yet checked today if it is working well without VSA light appearing, I added yesterday 4.5 liters of 5w30 full synthetic, your opinion please ? my jeep has a total of 125000 miles

    How do you measure the 4 quarts,at what line do you stop on the oil jug

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  Год назад +3

      If it’s a 5 quart jug, I stopped till it’s only 1 quart left.

    • @tammyponmorris9324
      @tammyponmorris9324 Год назад +4

      just pour the whole 5 quarts in if you have no way to measure it. you would have to overfill by a quart+ to cause any excess pressure on the oil filter. being only half a quart over just consider it the Honda Tax since they are notorious for burning through oil quickly lol

    • @567Kriss
      @567Kriss 2 месяца назад

      @@tammyponmorris9324 i wouldnt advice that as even if it burns oil, too much oil increases oil pressure and can blow seals. just check the oil every 1k miles and assess if you need to add more. I only came on this youtube video to see if I needed to remove plastic paneling

    at the end, why the VSA light is on ? with the triangle on the right ?

  • @williamball4153

    Why did you change the filter before draining the oil?

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  Год назад +5

      Personal preference, you can do either or.

    • @421CentralIowa
      @421CentralIowa Год назад +8

      It doesn't matter. The oil all sits down in the oil pan below the filter, so the mess you get out of the filter is the same, regardless. It's just a preference thing.

      Yeah, we got that fixed, it was the brake pedal sensor that was the issue.
