Yes guys the instagram fashion obsession is real. Please be mindful of your mental health. It sounds silly, but think about if it’s worth it to scroll through designer clothes for the 5th time in the day

Wow this was such a great video. This video is very underrated. This needs more views. This video sums up exactly how I felt being so mindful of fashion in my life. I’m just graduated from high school and i used to love going to MANY thrift stores a day 3x the week or more. I used to love finding gems in there and just showing out at school on the best vintage shit. But it was all just like this dude explained. The dopamine. Fashion is a fucking drug. Ullnever fucking get satisfied. Wow this video was so great!!! Great point on the successful people that dress up like it’s a uniform. Life is so much more than just clothing. Props to you my guy. I love the editing in this video. This channel has a lot of potential. Support from MEMPHIS TENNESSEE

I don’t think you can leave fashion forever like this, I don’t think it’s the end. I think eventually what you’ll do is come back to fashion but in a healthier way.
I’ve been on a similar mindset as you, I sold a majority of my clothes a few months ago and went on a “fashion fast” - I’ve stopped buying clothing.
Making my own stuff now in an attempt to build a portfolio also been educating myself regarding the social and environmental impact of fashion. These CK boots I got today for 75% off were the first purchase I’ve made since ~March
And I bought them for reasons not at all like the reasons I used to buy clothes for. I don’t think this is the end of the journey just a part of the pathway.

    • @CKSPACE
      @CKSPACE  5 лет назад +4

"Fashion fast" is a great way for me to reflect what i truly want in life.
It great to hear that you are building your own brand and taking social and environmental factors in to consideration. Best of luck!

I really respect your video. I’ve recently read a book by Frank Trentmann about consume, he analyzes consumption habits very accurately, and explores how social norms make you consume a certain way, and shows how you are just in your system, and can’t be faulted for your habits fully

I have been following you for a year or so now and was growing to be a person you once were with comparing to others and taking a negative path in the fashion lifestyle.
Highschool ended and I had no one to show off to and get that high from and although I could see the trends and want the pieces for myself I knew the negative ruled the positive.
With that being said, coming out with these videos on converting to minimalism really opened my eyes and I appreciate it. Although I discovered your channel for the soul purpose to review and buy , I'm glad I can come now and watch about minimalism :)

Definitely feel a lot of things you are saying here and these thoughts have also been on my mind lately. Its hard to get out of the loop of buying more and more especially as you see some people keep buying new things on yt. I think it is healthy to have fewer things, things you love and use a lot and only buy something you truly need or have been wanting for a while.

    • @CKSPACE

It's so refreshing to hear someone actually voice out their struggle with being a fashionista on an emotional level. I didnt have that 'dress-to-express-your-mood' mindset ever but just like you, I'm leaning more towards a uniform. I'm trying to pursue and find out what things or experiences fit myself instead of trying to push myself into whatever beautiful thing is out there. I feel the need to be me and sometimes that means scrolling through pinterest and instagram. I appreciate from afar, dissect looks, and ask myself questions that lead me to what it is I fundamentally like.
I also lost interest in my former hobbies but now Im rediscovering myself and approaching hobbies in a different manner that is healthier mentally.
I hope you find a new way to love or rebuild your hobby/inclination to fashion (from fashion to personal style) OR find simple joy from something else.
I hope your journey in minimalism works out for you!

Totally in accord with you, I was waiting this kind of video for a long time. I’m quitting high fashion too for a much simple and “minimalism” style. Fashion was having a too much place in my life, on insta, my friend ecc... I was getting interest in things I can’t even afford just to have a conversation with someone about the mew balenciaga or new offw shoes ecc... simplicity makes thing more simple and quick remaining stylish. I’m really confident that the future mode will go into minimalism and simplicity, everyone will get bored of all this hype price and brands. Love you, hope you ll get more visibility.

I don't have a minimalist wadrobe but I my style is very simple, capsule-like in general. It's basically Jeans, t-shirts, cardigans and boots in black, white, blue and natural/beige and I try to buy mostly organic materials. If pieces get damaged I repair them until they can't be repaired anymore and if I want new clothes I donate some of my old ones first (only those which are still in a good condition of course).
Clothing used to give me so much anxiety. Exactly like you explained. What to buy, what to wear and so on. The discontent when I could not afford it.
It's much easier like this. People won't like you better just because you wear the latest fashion anyways.

Boy do I know for force. Me and my spouse were hardcore minimalist for 5 years straight and we were able to do so many funny things but on a strict budget and for free if we would and we never struggled for money and had no debt at all while everyone else did. My spouse decided the minimalism wasn't what he wanted to do anymore and became a shopaholic and influencing me. Now he wants to be a minimalist again but taking little steps while I am going hard and all in on getting rid of tons of stuff.

Went from a 9 drawer dresser (which i immediately got rid of) to a 3 drawer dresser. I hate folding, so if I can't hang it, it went. I only have clothes I wear now. I no longer feel guilty looking through my drawers at things I like but can no longer wear and it feels so liberating.

Wish I could afford a few timeless label items of clothing cuz they last a lifetime and are definitely worth the investment, it´s a smart way to spend your money if you happen to have it. But it´s a fact we are judged by the clothes we wear, the car we drive and etc, it takes a great deal of focus to say no to all that consumerism.

I feel like you would appreciate fashion more if you could create the clothes yourself.

Man it must be weird to care that much about fashion lol. I like fashion, but it isn’t an issue I just don’t buy anything out of my price range and mainly by vintage. Idk. Sorry you had such a weird obsession with high end fashion man. I just think it’s weird you couldn’t just wear clothes ? Idk. Maybe you need to see a therapist. You are really wrapped up in this.

I just don’t think you should feel that way about anything. And you are changing your ways for the better ? But either way, you are still thinking about this and having such a weird relation with physical items. It feels like you should see a therapist to me.

You're fooling yourself. Wabi Sabi and Minimalism is a form of fashion. Just because you don't see something, doesn't mean its not there.

when you are truly fashion creative, you don't compare yourself to others, you just create your own style mostly independent of others.

true, you purchase one item at a discount and then another countless items to match the item that you first purchased.
