Books: In The Shadow of the Mountain by Silvia Vasquez-Lavado (0:33) How to Leave the House by Nathan Newman (1:36) How to Die Famous by Benjamin Dean (3:05) Mythos | Heroes | Troy by Stephen Fry (3:57) The Wren, The Wren by Anne Enright (4:57) Rainbow Milk by Paul Mendez (6:33) Table for Two by Amor Towles (9:30) Salt Houses by Hala Alyan (10:51) How I Won A Nobel Prize by Julius Toranto (11:54)
Why did I sing "TROOOOOY!" like Gabriella popping out of the crowd in HSM3 when you showed your new Stephen Fry book?! 😂 Sounds like you had an incredible week! All those interviews and autographs!! 😍 I went to Hay for the first time a couple of months ago and it's just magic. Can't wait to go to the festival one year soon!
Jack's dog (sorry I do not remember the name) spying on him in the shadows at 1:40 has made me laugh so hard. That dog is adorable it may be the reason I watch Jack's videos? (just kidding).
That's a wonderful stack 😍 meeting author's and getting a signed copy sounds like a dream come true. I am also planing to read the book: How I won a noble prize. Hope it's good. 🙌 Happy reading everyone
Good rec's. Every year, I read through a specific author's bibliography in the order that they published the books. Last year was Toni Morrison, next year I was planning on James Baldwin. Maybe I should pencil Zadie Smith in for '26.
@@EmyN I would recommend it if you're going to read all of her books, it's fun to see her develop as a writer. You don't have to, each novel is a unique stand alone experience. If you only read one, I would recommend "Beloved" it's one of her best novels imo, and it's her best known work, so it would give you a good context for discussions around Morrison. I also read some of her nonfiction, "Playing in the Dark" is a book she published based on a series of lectures that she gave on American Literature, it's short and fairly inexpensive to find online. I also read an essay collection called "The Source of Self Regard" which was very good, but a lot of the articles were written in the early 2000's so some of the political material was dated.
I LOVED In the Shadow of the Mountain. Such a beautifully written and moving memoir. Looking forward to the film as well (Yes, Selena Gomez!!), but the book is so special to me. Enjoy reading it. 🏔🩵
If you like Zadie Smith you NEED to read Daniel Kehlmann! He’s a German author and he writes amazing historical fiction, literally every book of his is an immediate favourite 🤍
Hey Jack! Have you read A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles? It's one of my favourite books ever written, I can't believe you got the chance to have a chat with such an amazing author.. Congrats!!
Someone asked me here for Filipino book recommendations: -Some People Need Killing by Patricia Evangelista -Patron Saints of Nothing by Randy Ribay -Tall Story by Candy Gourlay - Bone Talk by Candy Gourlay -Dreamland by Jahric Lago and Cheska Mateo 🥰🥰🥰😍😍
idk if you will ever see this comment but if by any unlikely chance you come to LA at the end of April there’s an annual LA Times Book Festival @ USC that’s pretty cool
With the upcoming release of the Nightbitch movie, have you read the book? If so, thoughts on the book and what the heck they're going to do with it in the movie?
Instead of sharing books you haul/ want to read, why not have read them and give book reviews, like what you were doing in the past. You are sliding. The former is not proof that you have read them. It’s like making a video with zero legitimate content. I could have easily gone to Goodreads or a book store to read the books’ blurb. Pls save yourself while you can, the high life is making you distracted. What drew me to your 2 channels were interesting book reviews and content. Now that’s gone. 🥲
name me a relationship stronger than jack and squarespace’s
FR LIKE I WANT WHAT THEY HAVE
LMAOO
This comment is gold lol
His and better help because he still takes their sponsorship despite he knows they are scammers
Dakota and skillshare
all I want in a relationship is the loyalty and consistency that jack & squarespace have, is that really too much to ask
My tbr list bleeds every time Jack posts a book haul video
😂😂 ditto

we all love you, we appreciate you so much, you are special 🧡
It's crazy how despite Jack's state first thing he does when he comes home is tell us about his new books lmao
Not Jake spoiling Selena’s new role before she can officially talk about it🤣😭
That's exactly what I thought😂😂
Nathan Newman’s handwriting is diabolical and that’s all I could focus on 😂

Archieeeeee
officially adding wackadoodle to my vocabulary list
Now I have an even longer TBR. Also, Jack, we need a video on your opinion of the shortlist Women's Prize!
Is there a trend now of book titles beginning with "how"? Maybe it's intended as a reference to the proliferation and popularity of self-help books.
How To Leave The House sounds very intriguing! Definitely adding to my tbr
That's a wonderful stack 😍 meeting author's and getting a signed copy sounds like a dream come true. I am also planing to read the book: How I won a noble prize. Hope it's good. 🙌 Happy reading everyone
watching jacks videos about books ive never heard of and probably will never read is my only reward after studying for hours lol
HAY BESTIE!
Hay Festival is like Jack’s version of Woodstock. Also, love a book haul!
what happened to no-more-space-for-books-might-need-new-bookshelf 😂 but tbh I would splurge $$$ on books too lol

Do you recommend reading Toni Morrison in order?

Ooh, I think you'll love Salt Houses! The careful character studies and lyricism seem right up your alley.
If you like Zadie Smith you NEED to read Daniel Kehlmann! He’s a German author and he writes amazing historical fiction, literally every book of his is an immediate favourite 🤍

In the Shadow of the Mountain is one superb read. Hope you get as much out of it as I did ❤
‘A good girl’s guide to murder’ is going to be adapted into a BBC series. Has anyone apart from me seen the trailer?

Hey Jack! Have you read A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles? It's one of my favourite books ever written, I can't believe you got the chance to have a chat with such an amazing author.. Congrats!!

Have you read a book called If I Survive You by Jonathan Escoffery it’s really good, think you might enjoy it.
Mate - you read so much! It’s taken years for me to throw my hands up in the air
With the upcoming release of the Nightbitch movie, have you read the book? If so, thoughts on the book and what the heck they're going to do with it in the movie?
No way they're making a movie? If its A24 then they might do it justice 😂
Is this the same man who said he won’t be buying new books this year 👀👀👀👀👀

Stephen Fry…is a complex person now.
YEEES
Honestly, I thought you'd have more
Are you okay, jack?
