I appreciate that. Any share is a good share. Honestly, I think about that all the time. Where are all my subscribers? lol. Thanks for the comment and encouragement.
Thank you for this! Our organization has not been able to get this level of information from Asana's support team. Our team was already using Asana when I started as Creative Project Manager. So, I inherited what was already happening there. Nobody on the team fully understood how to utilize all the tool's capabilities. Subsequently, nobody could teach me. I hit the ground running and have only now (nine months into my role) had time to slow down and investigate options and alternatives. I was genuinely on the verge of suggesting we change software before finding your tutorials. Much appreciated!
Wow! Thank you so much for leaving this comment! I always love to hear about the ways that my videos are helping people. I’m glad you found it helpful. If you have any specific questions, I’m happy to help!
1. How do you automate due dates for subtasks in a template, for example: subtask #1 (due two weeks from x date) subtask #2 (due 1 week from x date) 2. How do you make headings in a template subtasks? To organize the subtasks more.
Hey, thanks for watching! So: *Automatic Due Dates in Subtasks:* 1. In the template, go to the subtask that you want to add the automatic due-date and click the "Due Date' icon, just as if you were adding a regular due date to a regular task. 2. In the pop-up menu, you can set the due date rule and the number of days before or after the project's start date or the project's due date. *Headings in subtask templates:* 1. When adding subtasks to the template, just use *TAB + N* and it will create a New Section. Hope this helps!
Hai marquis i found out that the fastest way to put attachments in asana is to select all the attachments where you saved them and right-click to copy them. Go to the task in asana where you want them and in the description section click on command +v to paste and all images will be put in. 2nd way is select all attachments and drag them to the task that is open it saves a lot of time.
Thanks for this video, do you know more info about connecting Figma to Asana? The goal is having comments on Figma that would then create subtasks on Asana-- however not all comments only most important. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! Connecting Figma to Asana for specific comments would only be possible using automation tools like Zapier or Integromat. You can find more information at: asana.com/apps/figma
Hi Marquis - as always, you're the best and we appreciate your work!! Question - is there a way to have sub-tasks due dates change based on the parent task due date changes? Thanks in advance!!
Thank you for the comment! The easiest way is to view your project on the timeline and add dependencies between the parent task and the subtasks so that they will move when you adjust the date duration of the parent task.
Hi Marquis! Do you happen to know why my trigger and action section is different from yours? Some triggers and actions are not in the panels. I am using a business plan account. Thank you! :)
Hey there! Since this video was recorded, Asana had updated how the rules sections look. You now have to click on either the trigger or action and then look into the side panel to add the appropriate action or trigger.
One way would be to tie all the tasks to the milestone in a dependency and that way when you move the milestone on the timeline, all the dependant tasks will move with it. Aside from that, there is a tool called Flowsana that enables you to do that as well.
Managing workload definitely became easier when Asana added the ability to add a project to a portfolio by default upon creation from a template. Without subtask support, the workload is still effectively useless for us though. We currently multihome the subtask to become a “parent level” task in the same project in a special “Subtask Section” using Flowsana (which creates its own issues with the timeline and such), but at least it makes Workload somewhat viable.
I run a youth mentoring program under my non-profit and recently had an employee go rogue and delete months of case notes/files in asana. She was in the process of being reviewed for termination (which I suspected she knew). She was added and did not own the team but was listed as the project creator (work she did while employed). I am completely blown away at the lack of security and lack of response from ASANA. Anyone else had anything similar happen? I'm in the process of switching the platform we use but it'd still be great to get the data restored to migrate it instead of recreate it.
So sorry to hear that this happened. I have clients that have been in the same place and have reached out to Asana to restore the old information. I hope you were able to get them recovered!
Does anyone know if there's a way to set up an Asana-Pipedrive integration? This is opposite of how the standard integration is set up. I want some of my tasks in Asana to automatically filter into Pipedrive when the conditions have been met.
As you know, the integration works so that Pipedrive updates the status in Asana. Zapier would be able to do what you're asking though. I'd start there.
From a project management perspective… your videos are the best! How do you not have more subscribers?! I gotta tell my fellow Virtual Assistants!
I appreciate that. Any share is a good share. Honestly, I think about that all the time. Where are all my subscribers? lol. Thanks for the comment and encouragement.
Really helpful video!
Glad it was helpful!

Yeah, couldn’t agree more. We need more subtask functionality. This will open up so many opportunities when they make this available.
