    When I first heard of organizing with PARA I had serious anxiety about putting EVERYTHING in one archive folder, but over a year later I've only needed a handful of files in that archive. It works!

    I use the archive folder method regularly, particularly with my email inbox before a significant work break. It's so much easier to get on top of stuff without the overwhelm.

      I have been unsubscribing many emails and usually every other week I clear my emails. It is more my digital filing system that is out of control, it all relates to university. That's what I really want to get a handle on and sustainably file correctly and not just on a whim.

    I've taken your archive idea one step further. I have a script in my Obsidian (my main SB) that automatically moves every new note to a folder of the month when it was created. They get auto-tagged for review but if i forget then they've already got out of the way, no stress. Thanks for the inspiration!

    After decades of using computers, I’ve realized we rarely go back to check old files like we think we will. Time passes, new things come along, and we focus on what’s current(and it's neverending) Those old files, notes, tasks, ideas, and everything else we’ve dragged with us over the years? It's feel good to check back at them once in while, relishing old memories, but most of them become a burden eventually. If you feel overwhelm, do what Tiago suggest: Let it go! Toss those files into an ARCHIVE and start fresh-you’ll be surprised at how much lighter you feel (and yes, you can still find them if you need to, but you’ll lose that nagging 'guilt' of having to organize them.) This applies to physical objects too.

    • @FocusedCuriosity
      @FocusedCuriosity Месяц назад +1

      Yes, so much lighter! But I'm still working on the guilt of physical objects 😬

    Excellent content. I really loved every section of it. Well, after a long time, I replayed each section multiple times and also I paused the video and picked up on a line and was fascinated to see that it can be used in multiple ways and in different situations. Each sentence is carefully framed and delivered. This actually has a lot of substance and weightage to this. Definitely would take many more years to identify how to make these points to work out for me and get comfortable doing it regularly and diligently. Thank you for such a video.

    Is there a video on how to actually start with a digital life.
    - How to pick the right apps.
    - How to create your initial to do list.
    - How to build out your Calendar.
    - What routine Rituals to build in (morning / weekly planning, annual reviews etc).
    - How to start taking digital notes while still being present.
    I've never been good at taking stuff down digitally but I'm at a point where I know I need to start managing my life a bit better to keep on top of everything.
    The issue is I don't know where to start. I don't have loads of notes, documents, lists etc. My calendar is a complete mess because I just go with the flow.
    I just want to get started but everything I see online is more about how to reset etc.

      There is no universal system. I think its best to see what are the tools, programes you need more and work from there. In time, after trial and error it gets better! And read, listen to what others doing the work you do, are actually using.

    5:20 - Keeping all files for your projects synchronized between a task manager, note-taking app, and cloud storage makes sense. However, what specific files do you keep in the cloud versus the note-taking app?

    • @TiagoForte
      @TiagoForte  2 месяца назад

      Notetaking apps are typically not the right place to store photos, videos, very large files, and specialized files. And of course, Google Docs, Sheets, etc. naturally live in the cloud and not in a notetaking app.

    I do not believe to this reset method. I find it more easier and relaxing not to worry about piling email messages, my inbox is someone else's priority list. I have found peace having everything in Obsidian, this way I never forget anything, I find everything I need at once, never have to reset anything.
