I know so many photographers in their 40’s without a proper retirement plan and savings. It’s amazing how just putting aside just a few hundred dollars a month can add up over the years.
That’s a great question Elijah, I honestly feel with experience comes confidence so you need to force yourself to gain experience by putting yourself in uncomfortable situations. It’s challenging at times and when I started I was shy approaching people but that faded w time.
Here's how I deal with payment - if I can transmit images, you can transmit money. Welcome to the 21st Century. I'll do the shoot, email the invoice and then the client uses PayPal or Direct Deposit to my account before I transmit the final images or they have the choice of waiting until I get paid through accounting snail mail to transmit. It's amazing how quickly they can pay.
I do the same always except editorial client won’t work that way. Newspapers and magazines need the images on deadline so they often won’t accept those terms unfortunately.

After 60 you just have a studio and shoot only their whatever you like and teach photography and rent the studio and gear to other photographers
