I don't know about other services. In the Marines all of our buttpacks (that I saw) were issued with ALICE clips. We always attached them to our pistol belts. I was in the Marine Corps Infantry from 97 to 01 and we were issued the LBV, and either the woodland camo, or OD green buttpack.
Interesting. First thing we did was cut off the suspender buckles and Alice clips and tied the stuff on with 550 cord. Quite, won't poke you and will never fall off.
Collector Nick Duh... I meant the M1 canteen cap. Which, of course, was used with the M17A2 protective mask with drinking tube. My mistake. I was a 54E back then. But, it was 30 years ago. Remember☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻,to actually get water out of your canteen utilizing the M17A2 protective mask and canteen with M1 canteen cap, always Blow into and pressurize the canteen and you’ll get water. Using s sucking action will only collapse the tube and you’ll get little or no water. That concludes this block of instruction. Dismissed
What are the diameter of the holes and the spacing? I'm thinking about modifying my soviet belt to make it better and to hold my canteen and other stuff securely.
Paladin Perez I just use the ALICE clips to slide on to the handel of the butt pack, however if your IFAK does not have ALICE clips then you could use the velcro on the IFAK case
Nick, as always...very informative information on all the different LBE/LBV set-ups. You mentioned that you were possibly thinking of selling some of the gear in this video?,.. I am definitely interested in 2 of the setups, contact me if still available, thanks and great videos.

Collector Nick well, for starters there are literally thousands of pictures not to mention a few documentaries of Vietnam showing rare footage of guys sporting the load bearing equipment some m56 some m67 like the ammo pouches, canteens, ifaks, etc. and I’ve spoken on several occasions to Vietnam vets who have shown me their 782 equipment

The M17 protective mask adapter for the canteen is an A2 canteen cover.
And the second wipes were the M258 decontamination wipes

They are spaced about 2 inches and for the diameter of the eyelets are about 5MM.

Fridrick The IV yep
Hell yeah! Where was your unit and what was your rank?
Fridrick The IV my squadron was in South Dakota and I made it to cadet senior airman
My squadron is in Colorado and I'm about to be promoted after my encampment to Senior Airman aswell
There is actually evidence of some ALICE gear in use during field trials, but was by no means general issue
Mandy Hammond what do you mean?
@@kilo393 Field trials meant they were used in combat to evaluate their effectiveness.
I still have yet to see any validation of that. No one I talk to can provide adequate proof of documents of pictures.
@@collectornick4270 You have, too. I showed it to you several years ago…

Okay
Alice wasn’t used in Vietnam huh? I beg to differ
Any references to support that theory?

Collector Nick Alice was utilized throughout Vietnam regularly
@@richrad8688 You mentioned M56 gear and M67 as well as the USMC 782 gear. But you understand that ALICE gear is different from those right?
Collector Nick right, Alice was utilized between the two branches. It was also utilized by the Australian forces in Vietnam as well.
Butt packs and canteens could have Alice in nam
