Good job on your video. I was in a light Infantry unit from 1989 - 1995. Most of us in the infantry platoon bought old 1956 model canvas buttpacks and carried them on our LBE. They were not standard issue, but almost everyone used them. Most had their gear rigged so that you would unbuckle the belt and let the buttpack and canteens drop lower in the back when moving with the rucksack on to allow the kidney pad of the ruck against your back.
I was in the Marine Infantry from 97 till 01. We were still issued all ALICE gear, including the buttpack. We were issued the buttpack from SOI all the way to Fleet Marine Force. Didn't start getting the MOLLE gear till just before deployment to Iraq. As far as field packs, they issued us the CFP 90 and the medium ALICE pack.
I was an 03 in 2nd FAST from 01-05 we eventually got rid of that old stuff several years after 9-11. The old mag pouches sucked, the old flak jackets sucked and I especially hated those aligator clips, I used overlapping varients of the ALICE stuff from the 90s, most of our stuff was just like the first 94 Ass Pack in the video. I never got issued the regular newer stuff, in FAST we had both flak jackets and 2nd chance vests at first, than we had FISBE vests with the cable system that comes apart when you pull a strap (uncase you are drowing) and the gear that came with it, than we had some other shit, Interceptor? Maybe? Than I got out and got in the Army amd had whatever they used but I was a POG. If its not combat I rather run with a Molle Battle belt and H harness with a Molle Ass Pack with the USMC FSBE canteen pouches with 2 canteens. I travel the country and stay outside alot so Im trying to develop a light belt kit to supliment my pack by not something too big like a whole gun belt.
These are great videos man. A lot of this info is scattered and condensing it into videos with examples of each variant is amazing, thank you for taking the time to do this.
