    The ACU pattern works pretty good after being in the environment your operating in. In Iraq the uniforms would begin turning a dingy brown digital pattern. Of course we always had to keep our uniforms clean so the pattern would only last until laundry day.

I mount them on both sides of pretty much every ruck I use ( Edit : because Coleman's Surplus sells them in a 2 pack for 15), as well as using them in a variety of similar capacities as he does here. They hold an insanely huge amount of stuff ( at a foot wide, 11" high, and IDK how big front to back, you can keep cramming and stuffing them fuller and fuller with tons of stuff ), I love them :)

    I can tell you where that ACU camo pattern works, an I mean works wonders. Gravel parking lots. I topped a hill heading to the airfield I worked on one morning, and at the bottom of the hill was a curve. At that curve the was a staging area used by companies getting ready for the rifle range. It had several trucks and buses off to one side but looked otherwise empty. I got to within 50 meters before I saw three companies standing in formation. I had to get low enough for there to be trees and green behind them before I could see them. That uniform was for fighting wars in gravel parking lots.

    Cool harness/belt thang setup RM. ~ What war is going on in Floriduu? All I heard was mags, water, first aid (tourniquet? ...that's last aid)
    ...so knife(s) is on your chest?
    'n of course it needs padding if yer gonna be naked. (-: We saw footies.
    Aww, just farkin' wit ya on an old vid. I'm on the fence for something as this. Option for my kind of vintage gifted LL Bean backpack..that is fairly well thought out for access to all the stuff. Even the way the zippers curl from top center to bottom each side.
    ~ Hips I've my dear uncle's leather 48" belt on, that holds large blade, other side a hatchet I can strip off in seconds, to use for core/shoulder wood hauling.
    ~~ Camo is a weird animal. All dark as you like is a dark blob in my mind's eye. Whiter/light grey mixed in is more like nature..not being solid it near as looking through spaces in the woods. Eyes get tricked to looking through in some cases. Prolly not invasive pythons to make a few bucks.
    Beams of light passing through reflect off other leaves. (snap a few photos of woods without looking at what capturing, then view later)
    At least you have some spots to clip on a telescoping fish rod 'n some doo dads.
    ...just poking around after I just got a USGI 2qt canteen/cover for another 2qts of water shoulder slung opposite my canteen kit bag.
    ~~ lol, I should get a scale to see where I'm at. Water added is easy to figure.

    I see this is 9 years old BUT the ABU tiger stripe digital pattern came out in the early 2000s and was simply a fashion statement and wasnt made to ve effective. The airforce wanted their own pattern so they could stand out so they initially made a navy blue version and then it eventually became the vest you have there. The air force was allowed to use army ucp pouches woth their gear since the colors were so similar but around 2012 the digital tiger stripe camo was fazed out

  • @kurtbaier6122
    @kurtbaier6122 7 лет назад +4

    I run deuce gear as well. I have 2 sets. One green seasons, other for brown seasons. I spray painted mine with different colors to blend in well. You run with a lot of water. I use a water filter. Typically I run with a quart of water, although I do have the capability to run 2 qts. I have a buttpack, canteen with pouch cup stove lid, and two 2 qt canteen carriers for other gear, and a m16 mag pouch, and two small aid pouches for compass, mini notebook, and a grenade pouch for headlamp on each rig. Airborne troopers wore a musette bag that attached by 1" webbing to the shoulder straps and could we thrown over their head like a min backpack, or placed in front with a twist to place it about waist height for access, and to get it out of the way for their jump chute. I'm going to modify a buttpack and give that a try. My GI med kit can attach to the buttpack as real estate is at a premium. Anyone who served during the Cold War knows how nice that rig is for heat or cold. USAF Sgt 1976-1982.

      @@renaissancemarinetv3536 I also carry a pair of U.S.G.I. MOLLE 2 Sustainment Pouches ( the 12" wide and 11"tall kind), either one per side on the side MOLLE of my ruck if I'm wearing a ruck, or side by side on some kinds of chest rigs ( using 550 cord into the loops made by the MOLLE tabs and looped around the straps and the horizontal "belt" thing that's at the base of the rig. They hold an insane amount of gear. I've had them packed so full of gear they looked deformed, almost like another pouch. I also have a couple of the newer, bigger, 2 side pouch canteen covers. I have a couple of chest rigs that have places where you can ALICE clip and/or MOLLE them on the horizontal back strap/belt thing.
      I use a seam ripper and razor blade to gut the padding and insulation ( so they fit more gear ) and they have those collars/sleeves/whatever that stand a few inches taller, bellows in every direction, and have a draw cord and barrel lock; you can even adjust the height of the lid on my favorite Black Hawk canteen cover. You can even fit several 30s for the AK in there. Those canteen covers increase and bellows to hold way more gear than you'd think and can make a great survival kit. I also use the 200 round MOLLE II SAW Gunner pouches, both to carry gear/meds/vacuum sealed ammo, plus more and to attach to some chest rigs to carry 6 30s for the AK. Mine look different than yours, tho. Mine are 9 and 1/2" tall, 7 and 1/2" wide, and 4" front to back ( tho of course they expand and can be overstuffed. They have an adjustable strap on top with a squeeze buckle and come as 2 packs for $15 at Coleman's Surplus ( I get my MOLLE Sustainment Pouches there as well, also in packs of 2 ). I also carry a lot of water because I'm constantly thirsty. But those sustainment pouches, canteen covers, and a small waist duffel ( made by Stealth Angel, which I clip to my pistol belt at the small of my back, that have some MOLLE and zipper pocket on the front, top/main compartment with mesh sleeve inside, and good size zipper pouches with MOLLE on each end ), along with the large utility pockets on some of my chest rigs, let me carry enough to keep me good for a couple/several days. Anyway, I like the channel and videos, so I liked and subscribed. Nice kit as well :)

    Cool setup. I have to ask, how did you attach that sustainment pouch ( the pouch above the butt pack ) to the harness and butt pack? I was thinking of making a similar rig for when I was just going traipsing around the woods to shoot guns and didn't feel like strapping on a chest rig/tac vest and full ruck when I already have my pistol, pistol belt, rifle/shotgun, and mags for everything ( I was going to use a sustainment pouch above a Finnish military gas mask bag. I just need the harness, preferably an H harness ). Also, if those M-16 triple mag pouches will fit 3 M-16 30s in a row, I figure I can fit 3 AK 20 rounders in there broadsides forward, am I right ( if you trip, you don't want to land on those AK mag's "spines" )? I'm an AK guy and never cared for the AR platform or the 5.56 round. I've been looking to make a homemade rig like that for shooting in the woods. I assume you connected the MOLLE straps on the sustainment pouch to something on the belt and harness in some way but couldn't see exactly how you did it. Also, I use 200 round SAW gunner pouches, in addition to the AK 30 round double mag pouches on my chest rigs, to carry extra AK mags, but I haven't seen one that opens with a 2 section flap. What kind is it? Mine have a strap with a single Fastex type buckle
