    I used a 10.3 barrel because I have a full size can (saker 5.56 with the asr mount). It puts me at about 16 inches with the can on. So now I’m looking at the k cans to shorten my overall length. Thanks for the good info!

    I have a DeadAir Wolf 9SD, which has the removable couple baffle piece for the end, goes from 4in to 7.5in. i run it on an MPX (8") and a 300blk AR (16", supers only). It really doesn't do a lot for suppression in the short config on the 300blk, which is a pretty easy to suppress caliber. Just takes the edge off and minimizes flash, while being pretty light.

      My favorite SBR has a small, loud can on it but it’s got my night fighting equipment on it so when I’m shooting it I have a helmet and headset. If I reach for a gun in the dark it’s got something quieter on it because I likely won’t be wearing earpro. My 16” guns have full size cans because the only reason for a gun that big is to shoot from a bipod, tripod or pack.

  • @shootinbruin3614
    @shootinbruin3614 3 месяца назад +1

    Regarding expectations, all I’m after from an HD perspective is for a K can to bring a 5.56 SBR’s blast down to the level of unsuppressed 9mm or better. It need not be “pleasant,” just manageable.
    For a gun that’s meant to be primarily used in tight spaces with (hopefully) a low round count, maintaining as much compactness as possible is my priority, so long as the concussion is kept in check and flash is mitigated to where it’s not blinding the shooter.
    I really wish Delta P would start selling to the public again. I missed the chance to get their ultra-short Brevis II suppressor. I wonder how it’d stack up to YHM’s Fat Cat or Silencer Central’s Banish Speed K

    My expectations for K cans are similar. If I have to shoot in the house or an enclosed space for some reason, without earpro, I don’t want to blow out my ear drums. I expect that in an open, outdoor range I get no (zero) ear ringing shooting two or three rounds through the suppressor with no earpro (even with 10.5” barrels). I can tell you that my HUXWRX more than meets this requirement but my Sig SLXC does not.

  • @allthingsconsidered3211
    @allthingsconsidered3211 3 месяца назад +1

    Exit baffles are generally .06”overbore so a 5.56 is 7mm but you’ll risk an end cap strike the closer you get to 7mm due to tolerances in barrel to suppressor concentricity/alightment. And bending due to heat (not with k/mini suppressors tho)
    A gauge is nice to make sure you won’t get a endcap strike

    I think it's funny how most "K" cans are QD. Half of the mini suppressor ends up being the mount and clearance for the muzzle device taking up internal volume.
    If short is the goal, I'd rather have a reflex suppressor with more internal volume to tame a short barrel. My 10.5" 5.56 with Griffin Armament SPR is my "go to" rifle metering impressively at:
    170DB unsuppressed baseline.
    134.5DB 1M left of muzzle.
    136.5DB at left ear.
    138.8DB at right ear.
    The overall length of the SPR is 8.6" but only 4.5" extend past the muzzle granting similar maneuverability to these "K" cans. I don't understand why reflex suppressors aren't more popular.

    I have an LWRC 8.5 inch PDW upper. It’s a 5.56 piston upper. Think I’ll have any issues running my RC2 on it with a brake as a sacrificial baffle?
    RC2s say don’t go below 10.3 for 5.56 but I always assumed that restriction was for sound reduction effectiveness. Not abuse on the can.

      @@exodusz19 I didn’t mean that as derogatory as it sounded lol I was just saying it will be plenty precise before even thinking about ammo availability, and then especially parts availability. I hear you on the performance too, it catches my eye as well. But I wouldn’t ever be doing any shooting to take advantage of it’s advantages if ya know what I mean

      Hopefully 6ARC has the trajectory of growth like the 6.5CM…didn’t really catch on for many years. The best thing is Starline is not making brass since it’s been unobtainium for Hornady.

    I have a Maxim Defense 5.5” barreled in 556. I’d like to suppress it, but wondering if it would do anything due to the super short barrel. Any Suggestions or thoughts on what to do if anything?

      I did see that Maxim offers a suppressor, but they are very expensive and I don’t like the fact that they say they won’t warranty the gun unless you use their suppressor. I’m thinking about the new B&T 556 suppressor.
