Yes! Nothing like riding home on the 2 train, at 2 am, having spent the last 4 hours at the Garage, especially the holiday sessions. The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving 1987... everyone was there that night...
Very nice. What drumming from Stew, and that chorus effect by Summers. Bands that had to be able to play. That stopped around mid eighties I think in Britain.
This beautiful song is just a small example of why it doesn’t pay to be prejudice! I look at my play list and it amazes me of how diverse it is! Music is the glue that should bond us all together 💯👌🏾💯👍🏾💙🙏🏾❤️ 👏🏾🔥👏🏾🔥👏🏾🔥 AAAYYYEeee!!!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾AAAYyyee!!!!!!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Yeah if you're hanging with people that turned away from this track after finding out three caucasian Englishmen wrote and performed it, it's best you leave them be
Man. Nearly 30 years of wondering what this song was as it was stuck on head. I knew it was The Police, but didn't know the song title at the time. Finally!!!! Well it's still worth a listen. This mix is mellowed out, so I am comfortably numb.
Antonio Malano Toni Massaro hey it was a music video made with the mix not too long ago...it starts with a old man remembering his past life with his girlfriend.... do you remember the video because I'm having a hard time finding it
Not really. I wasn't privileged with cable TV (back when it was OnTV/SelectTV) or a channel that had music videos in the 80's (early 90's) until much later. I had always wanted to get cable so I can watch VH1 or MTV, but was disappointed when I find out they were more geared to reality based showing than showing of music videos; hence, why I come to RUclips. I first heard this song on KLOS (95.5) along (in 1988) with other songs (was right after Midge Ure's "Answers to Nothing") that I recorded onto cassette. DJ's at the time never gave out the song info but I had always thought it was done by the Police as I can recognize the voice. My search was put on hold even after the internet was introduced to me in 1996 and I was journeying around. This time, I just thought I would put my mind at ease and just see if I can find the song. If I manage to find it (based on your description), I will give you a holler.
If ever a song deserved a sympathetic remix it's this one. It keeps all the jaw dropping moments of Copeland's brilliance and gives it the bass it needs to drive it beyond the minalism of the original, whilst somehow being almost as haunting.
There was an official video for the Police track back in the day, featuring Sting or one of the other members riding a motorcycle through a city on the freeways, filmed from various overpasses, etc. Pretty much confirming that which you said!
Being a 3 piece band is extremely difficult and rare. Because each member MUST be truly musically gifted at their instrument or else the weak link bandmate is exposed ruthlessly. My top 3 pieces... Rush, wolfmother, the Police. The musicianship of these bands are above reproach and are a testament to just how truly talented these musicians were. Just as Niel Pert has Tom Sawyer, voices inside my head is THE showcase piece of Stewart Copeland.
The mystery has been solved... I remember this song as a disco remix at the very end of the disco era (1980) when I was a young kid. I always thought the chorus was "hey theeeeeere, its a paaaaaartyyyy..."
It definitely had cross-cultural appeal & it still does! Timeless track. Great groove. I remember hearing it mixed into house DJ sets in Chicago. The best DJs knew how to mix all sorts of stuff together: house; punk; R&B; new wave; industrial; funk; disco...
@@kathleenheneghan8670 There is a good chance it was the KC Flightt Edit from 1991 that you heard in house sets in Chicago. -- ruclips.net/video/IfHECs687as/видео.html
After checking out some other mix versions of this song on YT I'm even more fond of this. You haven't altered the song drastically, but kept the mesmerizing beat of the original and spliced in the original music. I have the originally published "long" version and this builds upon how that first of what in the 80s called the "Remix" or "12" " twelve inch LP record. Great piece. Sting may want to ask you for rights to publish this version of what is still at its core The Police, "Voices, Inside My Head." Thumbs Up!
If you mean the long 12" version from 1980 by Common Sense, it's a cover. It's not the Sting/Police vocal or the music either. It is a great version though. I'd easily rate it a close 2nd after this one here.
Dude! These multitracks … like where can one get these? Here I am, talking like this was some internet leech (like me). I wish I could've published and pressed some of my remixes onto vinyl, but I think that opportunity has wizzed past me.
It’s never too late, homie. You can press up 100 records for something like $1,000 depending on the pressing plant. Start up a Bandcamp page and sell them directly to the consumer, or hand a few out to some DJs to get plays. I for one am curious as to what your sound is like. After all, you are commenting on a funky remix of one of the greatest songs ever, so you must have good taste.
62 year old Police fan here. Surprisingly, just now came upon this. Love this mix take on the original. Thanks!
I usually don't like remixes but this adds complexity to a classic piece, which enhances it and doesn't detract from it, great job.
With these 2 folks you couldnt expect something else... Listen to their stuff, won't regret at all!!
Bass guitar and drummer is absolutely KILLIN IT!
What a song with a message, Police is my ultimate favorite band of all time .👀💜👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Mine too. Salutes from Argentina!
Stewart Copeland, the muscle of the police. What brilliant drumming.
Perfect creative atmospheric groovynees.
He thought he was the whole band .. 🤣
Stewart's drum is very exquisite to my ears!!! I really love it!!!!
Music of the 80’s, music of eternity
amen
I think out of all the remakes, re-edits etc of this song - this is my favourite
LOVE THIS VERSION !!
Excellent version ! I am pretty sure that the trio would share this feeling !
Giving Andy some love too ... Sting and Stew get enough :)
Fabulous rendition 👊🏽🎶
Another classic jam by the police Stewart at his prime
Love this song
Heard it at the Paradise Garage
No better place to hear
Voices inside my head
You ain't lying. I use to dance my ass off at the garage to do this
Everyone in the Garage was hearing Voices in their Heads. Especially when the Snoopy kicked in 😏

Always AMAZING 💕🤗🧚🏿♀️

Love it. This was always a Police fave!
Very few times I like remixes that are often too much : here the job is perfect !!

Pretty good. Glad I stumbled upon it 🙌 love the Police 🚔 😄

yeah wish it had stronger drums
I was never a big Sting fan but dude kills it live on bass

It is not possible to drive under 100 mph with a 6-speed while rockin' to Voices Inside My Head... They told me to do it, officer!

The song "One World" on the Ghost In The Machine album is pretty good featuring Copeland's drumming.
