- Blue Monday is a single released in 1983 by British band New Order, and later remixed in 1988 and 1995. The song has been widely remixed and covered since its original release, and became a popular anthem in the dance club scene.
Track Listing:
Side A: Blue Monday
Side B: The Beach
41 years in rotation !!! Sound fresh like 1983
When someone ask me how 80s music is, I simply show this to them
Amazing, it's amazing
The Birth of Techno! New Order; Pioneers
Yesss
WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! WHAT WAS THAT?!
Um, I think it's Blue Monday.
Man that was the original pressing!
For fuck sake.
New Order "Blue Monday", Depeche Mode "Get the Balance Right", B-Movie "Nowhere Girl" and Trans-X "Linving on Video" 12" vinyl are masterpiece. Also, Depeche Mode "Shake the Disease" They were so far ahead of their time... listening to the 12" singles which are extended version in today's time and you'll think its a remix.
I'd forgotten about B-Movie. Thanks.
This track was way ahead of its time back then. So far ahead of its time that it almost seems like the remixes that were made only aspired to be comparable to the real thing at best. This is a masterpiece of musical creativity. Hell Yeah!
Joy division and new order where well ahead of the times and so influential
However - not only did they "do" this tune - but on the flipside of their extended vinyl LP .. re {quote] New Order - Blue Monday (Full 12-Inch EP) [1983] [unquote]
THEY PHYSICALLY REVERSED THE SONG
Thus the flipside of the 12" plays the other way & thus plays this exact song = sdrawkcaB..
It's title HAD to be different - so they called it "THE BEACH" !!!!!!
OBVIOUSLY THIS SONG IS ALL ABOUT THE BEACH ANYWAY - thus easily plays in reverse
Compare the two versions and the "reversed" flipside track - pre-echoes itself, because when played in reverse - anything that gets "played" on the original side that delays any echoes - these echoes now precede the tune (played in reverse) - hence it's got "altered" singing digitized inverted vocals in it too ... and all other echoes PLAY BEFORE THE SOUND - as they now precede the active signal that created them..
re:

ALL TRACKS are way ahead of their time - whenever I play-with (operative word = WITH = play-with) any music - as I do NOT play it the way countless others have followed along the blind commercial system - of playing a two channel stereo system by way of ONE CHANNEL - on the left-hand side & ONE CHANNEL on the right-hand side?
Oh no - I either "play these" in total 360 degrees "analogue" surround sound (via my own invented multiple channel decoder system - that i discovered away back in 1965) OR - I play "things" from TOP TO BOTTOM, with a subwoofer at CENTER-HEIGHT.
Why ?
Because then I not only get the old-school (original) MONO SOUND of summated R+L channels, at the TOP Of the speaker tower stack - but I get a completely unheard HIDDEN track - that plays near the floor - whilst the summated SUB-WOOFER is summated between the normal MONO and the OTHER 90 degrees out-of-phase MONO - being the one I get out of the hidden content within any stereo recording (from the rear of studio / rear stage effects) - which when combined in full noise - actively give me a LOT MORE audio content - than you will ever get - playing forwards OR backwards any of your music - whether in direct analogue players - or from any digitized "virtual" sound delayed frontal system of "front surround only".
And then sometimes - I go & 4k all of that up - by overlaying the completely opposite direction of play of that top/bottom content - into the opposing bottom & top channels (but over-layed in reverse)..
Making a cacophony of harmonic sounds - being like nothing ever created..
Now where can you hear that effect?
Oh yes - a car upside down on the side of a track (road actually) ..
The title of it..
Oh for sure - sounds as bad as the content that YOU will soon subject your ears to listen too
Ur addicted to MY music & U chant- QUIX4U (Wildest FM Radio on the doht com) .wmv
ruclips.net/video/Kt2-5ZUuzbM/видео.html
Backwards - sideways PLUS upside down AND reversed - all tumbled in together.
Yet your brain can follow along ?
And eventually start to recognize little snippets of something
Plus bits and pieces - played here and there..
DIFFERENT ?
HELL YEAH
Any silly village idiot - can push "play" on a commercially made audio player.
NONE can play it my way.
remixes suck make new tracks dont remix what is already set up right
@@fullfunk nobody is talking about any remix of this track because there is no way to outdo the brilliance of the original.
Still remember..I was a young teenager on the school trip bus...one of the kids started playing this track...all jaws dropped...just bliss
The greatest synth record of all time?
Too damned right it is!!!!
Dat Klopt !
I actually can relate--somebody on a long-gone radio station stated something along that line. Think back in 1993.
I agre
Who says so? It is as "synth" as (or less than) I Feel Love, the latter being of universal importance to music, this one here is the most overrated by internet/youtube song ever.
@@krasteff Stop talking out your arse you massive ponce
This is for my grandpa Joe he said it sounded urgent.he liked it.I miss him.
One of the rare examples of a band going forward after losing its front man. Manzanarek and May tried, but obviously didn't succeed.
Manzarek... )
That's because they didn't want to change things up, they wanted to continue with the formula but forgot it was missing a piece
They should have created a new band from the ashes..
It didn't need messing with. I only knew this version in the 1980's. This is and always will be the best version.
With you on that....I bought the 12" twice when it first came out, blew me away and still love it.
@@1WillowMoon agreed. still a fantastic tune 40 years on
It's still THE DADDY after all these years. Incredible piece of work.
Holly dam..this is timeless sort of electronic / dance music...

Substance is vastly underrated, one of the all time best albums.
Played to death 👍☺️
You look back and ask yourself how this was even possible in 1983.
a drum machine made it possible, plus some very clever people

40 years old today & sounds as great as it did in 1983.
"sounds as great..." No it don't
Uh, I'm 50, so I was 10 in '83 and I don't remember this song from back then, so no way did you.
The tune is 40 years old, not me lol. I'm 54, so was 14 and did remember it very well 👍
still makes air move on big speakers at the good parties

When this was played at clubs in the 80's it was epic. Best of times.
How lucky we were to experience that !!! The 80's ! Thank God for the 80's ! The Universe had enough disco, and it was time to move forward . . .
What's all that white stuff on the counter top?
@@jafetrodriguez6446 , Lol ! You called it ! I almost brought that up ! We would carry over to Tijuana at around 3am ( 15 minutes away ) and go clubbing, more drinking, and eating ! Thank you for your comment !
@@jafetrodriguez6446 woah
As soon as you hear that first few seconds of that bass drum it was dance time!
This is my favourite rendition of the song. Love how minimalistic this first version was, but still incredibly good and catchy. The 88 version's got too much sound effects for my taste.
Robin v. E. I agree, the cool minimalism of "Blue Monday" is what made this track so awesome.
this makes me feel young and old all at the same time
5:45 LOVE that sound! Deep synth-bass sound unique to this record.
I bought the 12" when it very first came out....wore it out literally....and bought another. I was a teen and this Tune was the best thing to ever hit my ears and i still love it now, and forever. ❤
This trak definatly stands the tests of time.

@@joshdougherty1574 Bugger off, this is the comment section of a great song, not a spelling lesson
Remember this playing almost every night at the disco back then. Never saw the sleeve only the disc spinning in the booth. Oh those memories.
i can't believe i gave this away...what a dork!
Indeed!
If you look in a charity shop you might find a copy, still loads of deluded people throwing away the best part of their lives, fact
I did too 😢
I was sitting in a lucky seat at an MLB game in the 80s and I won a box of records. Inside the box of records was this New Order album Substance 1987. I still have it somewhere.
completely not the point but what teams were playing
this is best version ever
The best version, by far.
Ahem the only version 🥰
The record tossing scene from Shaun of the Dead brought me here.
Ed: “It was Blue Monday”
Shaun “Ed, that was an Original Pressing!”
Ed: “FFS” 😂😂
I remember I was on the dance floor with my favorite girl - I loved her so much, we never came together... 💔 When I hear this 12inch today I'm in another world - on the dance floor with her for 12 minutes...
Great songs, like this music, shall never die. This is added to our DANCE VAULT!

1983 version by far the best love it
Always been and forever will be the best.
It's the one I grew up with. Wasn't there a remix called "The Beach", or is this it?
There was a version named "The beach", it was on the B side of the 12 inch single. It was a brilliant remix of a brilliant song.
Nina Eikenberg I have that 12 in. version...... I bought 3 vinyls when I was in Junior high school... I have never played them, they're still sealed. I consider them a treasure :)
It's silly to ask trivia questions on the internet, but who knows (or remembers) who these guys were before New Order, and what happened that caused the change?
badass!!
Today is 1-26-15 this is blue Monday. I play this version every blue Monday of the year since 1983
Substance is vastly underrated, one of the all time best albums.
Along with Kraftwerk, it is unmatched... Maybe YELLO too.
80s the best
Why is it that I can't find the 14 minute version anywhere but on RUclips
Like all perfect songs, they over played it on the radio, I remember... took me until today to revisit it! Brings back so many fun times, back when I was young and stoopid.
I bought it back in 1983, small record shop, called "Music Man" in Bruges Belgium. Those were the days. The "Maxi single" is next to me here, kinda proud.
I like the other side too. This song f n rocks.
Yes, the B-side is called The Beach...awesome!!
legendary tune !! dance music would not be what is today without it ,ahead of its time
It actually represented it's time while being ahead of it's time !!

+Dominik Blechschmidt I think this is the most widely sold 12-inch single of all time. Strangely, I don't have it!
Yes, I have the original Floppy-Disk shaped 12 inch. My copy came with a black inner sleeve instead of silver. I bought a second one with the silver inner sleeve. Yes, The Beach (b side) is as good as Blue Monday...

A good opportunity to say that the original version (the one we're listening to...) is still way better than all the Remixes done for years now (incl. New Order's ones).
And God knows how much I love Remixes and other Reworked versions...
When this 12" has been released, I played it for all my friends and people I knew; except my best friend, they all told me I had to be insane to listen to this weird electro sh!t 🤣
Today, most of them say they always loved this title (and group)... smfh
RIP Ian Curtis 💫
I have all you trainspotters beat. I have the original test pressing with a lock of Bernard Sumner's hair and a note from Peter Hook's doctor that I bought at a Manchester bingo-night auction for 3 pence. It's still in the original plastic sleeve and is in mint jelly condition.
