My first Interstate battery in 2010 had a 7 year warranty, with a 48 month free replacement, why did Interstate batteries decrease their warranty on batteries, are they having more failures on them due to Johnson Controls moving manufacturing to Mexico? I now use a Pulsetech Powerpulse passive desulfator on the my 2001 BMW 530i battery to extend it's life up to three times. My next battery will probably be a Interstate AGM battery from Costco.
For the punch out label, it would be better to have 2 digit years, and just make an updated label every 10 years. That way the customer doesn’t have to have an Enigma machine to figure out when their battery was made.
Doesn't matter what markings or receipt you have, 1 yo AGM battery with 3 year warranty won't be honored because they will make you leave the battery over night to charge then they will call you the next day saying they are able to charge it up to 12.2v so it's not the battery it's the vehicle. And even if you bring test results and data from your mechanic showing that the vehicle has no parasitic draw or bad alternator they will do the same test and say they can charge it to 12v overnight so the battery isn't faulty. Used to be extremely loyal to interstate but I'll never buy from them again
Wow, that sucks. A reputable garage/dealer will not only fully charge the battery but will also load test it. This means seeing how much current it produces under load. They have a machine to test this. Voltage is a bad way to test a battery because often a battery in poor condition will still charge to 12 volts. If you have your own battery charger (they're not expensive), charge up the battery before you take it over to the dealer. Then, have them load test it in front of you and have them show you the result. If they're honest, they should have no problem doing this. If they argue, just say you've been swindled before. If they still give you some story about it charging to x volts and they won't load test it, call up Interstate corporate and complain.
I'm surprised there wasn't a whole bunch of we ain't liable when you mix up the negative and positive terminals which is really easy to do on those Honda CRVs with 51r in them if you're lucky you'll blow the main fuse out of your car
POS battery. I bought mine Mar 22 at Costco. The sticker on it is 01/22 I am not having battery problems. I already brought it twice to Autozone to recharge and it dies after a day or 2.
My punch label has like 6 different holes punched out, and the codes on the battery come back with nothing. One said it was a battery from 2013. The cars a 2017 and it's a replacement battery, so that's clearly wrong
This is not any help at all. It does not help having the heat stamped date code which is all that Interstate uses now; if you don't know how to read it.
If it's a bar code, it may well be the UPC bar code used for identifying the type of product. This is what gets scanned at the checkout and doesn't identify anything about the specific battery. (If you responded, "no crap", then I'm being Cap'n Obvious) If it's another bar code you're referring to that is manufacturer specific, your guess is as good as mine. Interstate uses more than one manufacturer for what it's worth.

Also put it in a place you can see without pulling it out of the car

Im having this same exact issue

Thanks, very helpful! F96KT = August 2019 The engraved code was on top corner of the negative side.
Mine is h38ab and when I typed it in on interstate, it won't even accept the code.

How long is the warranty!
Great info thanks
Mine has none of those
I have a battery under warranty but my interstate doesn't have battery in stock and won't order it .. what can I do ??

Return it to Costco right away, you have a three year free exchange warranty.

Mine has an engraving at the top ridge, can’t tell if it is a 6 or an 8 though.
I have none of those either

Me either
What do the numbers on the bar code mean?
The letter is the Month and year (A=1 B=2) and the number is your year.
So 1G is July 2021
