    I had no luck with rain-x windshield washer fluid, after about 3 bottles and about a year in my water created a very thick mucus in the washer fluid deposit and clogged the lines. Love it when applied externally tho.

    My husband just did this on my daily driver and on his truck too. What a difference! He also did the wiper video on both at the same time. He then found the 0000 steel wool to be super helpful in cleaning up all the crust off of our kitchen faucet when we had to replace the "guts" in that so it would stop dripping. The faucet looks almost new! That 303 protectant looks like some pretty neat stuff to have around the garage. I really like that you share the products you use and that many of them have multiple uses. Thanks for your work on these helpful videos!

      I've put a piece of black felt cut to the shape of the dashboard, seems to help and eliminates the glare from a shiny dashboard, especially on cars that have a very deep windshield like Honda Fit, CRX, Prius etc.

    • @ArtemLokhovitskiy
      @ArtemLokhovitskiy 3 года назад +1

      I wash my windows from the inside in three steps:
      1. I use some heavy stuff to break all grease and dirt there. I make it all really wet and then wipe with whatever I have clean to remove most of the grease and dirt
      2. Then I wash it again with paper towel and deluded windshield washer (you can just have a piece of paper towel and sprinkle some water on it and then a few sprays of windshield washer).
      Note: not all paper towel created equal. I noticed some brands make it even worse and some work very well. The worst so far appear to be kirkland paper towel - it leaves some film. Bounty is ok but better not to use it too long coz fibers start to break up and stick to glass. Surprisingly dollar store paper towel works just fine. You just have to use multiple sheets at once because they are too thin.
      2. Then when it's all dry I clean it again with very fluffy towel and isopropyl alcohol. Higher alcohol content - better.
      Done :)
      Squeaky clean window and great visibility at night or bad weather!

    I can vouch for the RainX additive. It almost makes wipers obsolete. Driving down the freeway and the water just blows off the windshield (don't get mesmerized by analyzing your car's aerodynamics writ on the glass!). I do need, however, to do the SPC cleaning treatment. It can only make things better . . .

    Great Video. I've been using Rain-X since they first came out many, many years ago. I love it when I do not have to always turn my wipers on, then off, then on, then off....ugh!
    One thing you missed though. Rain-X recommends that after the final application to go over the entire treated glass areas with a damp cloth. Not wet, just damp. If you need the reason why, go to their website and they give a very clear explanation as to the reason. Its very interesting reading.
    Got a challenge for you and your "team" of experts. My car has a replacement windshield (lesser quality than factory) that a commercial company (no names will be mentioned) installed. I had to go through the Arizona desert some time back and when I got back home I noticed that my entire windshield looks like it was sandblasted by the winds that were being whipped up when crossing the desert.
    Glass is still good but there are 1000's of sparkles all across the glass. Still using Rain-X but it does not fix the sparkles.
    Any suggestions or experience with something like this?

    Car wax (carnauba, at least) works pretty good as repellant on windows. I do it every time I wax any of the cars. It doesn't really last too long, but then again the Rain-X doesn't either. In my experience the wax works notably better though. I use Rain-X just as a usual cleaner but if I know I'll be hitting some rain on a trip, I'll wax the windshield. Thanks buddy, lots of good tips and tricks, I'm definitely gonna try this out on my other car. Current daily driver has no washer system haha

    Great work there!... The only thing is, on my Honda I use "only" OEM blades I order from Honda. I've tried other blades (yes, even Rain-X), but nothing beats the OEM blades (refills)... Here in Oregon the weather has been so sporadic, and just after a few days of no rain my windshield gets this hard to remove film on it that does not come off, then when it rains it leaves this glare that is so annoying... I clean my blades till no more dirt shows on rag... No streaks from the blades, just the film on the window.... I am going to do this today and see what happens... Thanks again!

    I always like your approach to projects and processes keeping in mind what the average joe has access to usually, excellent concept!
    I do have one request that I think a lot of people deal with especially with new vehicles; preventing and getting rid of that damn film on the inside of the glass. Drives me crazy on both my new Ford's. If you have a video let me know, but if you don't this would be extremely useful for a lot of people.
    Keep up the excellent videos!!!

    I love Rain-X on the windshield. Unfortunately in certain weather conditions it can fog up badly, so on the windshield it's fine, the wipers can remove the fog. The problem is the side windows and mirrors have nothing to wipe off the condensation. And that is why I don't use it on anything but the windshield.

    • @SweetProjectCars
      @SweetProjectCars  6 лет назад

      gotcha...when i roll the windows down it clears the fog right off..

    • @johnwyman6331
      @johnwyman6331 6 лет назад

      Yes, rolling down the windows can wipe it off briefly, but unfortunately it comes right back. I would rather not drive with my windows down in all weather conditions, plus some of my windows don't roll down.

    Thanks for this! Mother's is the Holy Grail... BUT! I have streaky, vertical watermarks that just won't come off! I've used Mother's with a random orbital and wool pad (because that's what I have) and I've really stuck with it, they look a bit better, and I used rainex as well, before I saw this. I don't know what trauma this car's windows have suffered in previous lives... but this is a challenge! Heeeeelp!
