15.12.2021 - VN24 - Tractor-trailer tipped onto its side - over 12 tons of beef disposed of

VN24 - 15.12.2021 - Erwitte / Germany - A 35-year-old refrigerated transport driver was driving a semitrailer truck on the A44 freeway around 16:35 in the direction of Dortmund (westbound). Between the Geseke and Erwitte/Anröchte junctions, the vehicle left the motorway to the right for reasons that have not yet been explained, entered the grass verge and tipped over onto its side. Before the truck could be recovered, the load of around 12.8 tons of freshly slaughtered beef had to be unloaded and disposed of. This took several hours. Afterwards, the vehicle could be set up again with the help of a crane and several winches. A full closure of the directional roadway was necessary until the night hours. Traffic was diverted at the Geseke junction.
