If you want to understand how absurd capitalism, consider this: Capitalism results in expansionary production, which just means it results in more and more work being done. We can measure this in terms of worker productivity over decades. What we see is worker productivity ramping up exponentially. Now, lets extrapolate from this exponential production. Within a century or two, at this rate of increasing productivity, every human will have the productive output of a factory and be able to produce millions of items. When the productivity line keeps going up exponentially, we can analogize that to factory production and see how absurd it is where we are headed: to a point where every individual is capable of producing massive excess. Now ask yourself, in what world is survival predicated on the ability for a life form to individually mass produce millions of factory products? That is far beyond bare survival, that is a monopoly over survival used towards the interests of said financial monopoly. Another way of looking at our absurd trajectory is to go even further into the future of space colonization. Imagine we reach a point where every human can own their own planet, because we've been able to colonize billions of planets across the galaxy. The peak of wealth attainment will be to own a unique planet and manage all of the resources and life forms on the planet, as if it were a piece of property. This is how we behave locally, but shows how absurd it is when taken to its logical conclusion. In order to survive under capitalism, we must produce until our future progeny can achieve grandiose fortunes with digital ease? I call that a bastardization of survival, a type of metagame onto of real survival that obscures the underlying needs of everyone who exists in the moment. By owning the decision over who survives and who doesn't survive, capitalists themselves have dominated not just raw survival itself, but dominated the survival needs of OTHER humans to the degree that they can withhold their survival and starve them out. Its not about surviving, its about working for people who own the means of YOUR survival. In a way, they are middlemen who step into your survival versus the world and say "You need to survive, I need to get rich and have bought everything that makes people survive, so I will take a cut and if you don't like it you can lay down and die".
I like your thoughts but as soon as we talk about humanity capable of intestallar space travel we won't be bound to our physical form, life would be more of a form of energy collectively existing through time and space rather than beeing a meatsack not able to travel at lightspeed. so predicting life and economy in science fiction scenarios is just a bit pointless beside for entertainment purposes.

Everything Hasan is saying about capitalism can be thrown to socialism. You can look at Stalin's Russia and say that's what socialism is supposed to be. Truth is there is no system that can't be corrupted, thats the whole Jefferson quote about a reboot every couple hundred years. We have to adapt to the very human condition of corrupting systems and switch out policies and policy makers. Capitalism can work, so can socialism. We just need to see what works NOW and leave it open to change in the future. Just my humble opinion.
8:14 My brother and I get into arguments about Capitalsim all the time and he's the kinda guy to say capitalism isn't based on exploitation. He never relents though, and no matter what evidence I bring he never fails to put it down in the most liberalistc way he can. But then I call him a liberal for that and he's says he's not a leftist. He's quite insufferable sometimes...
@@queuebe4068 there are plenty of videos that go deeply into that. Two creators in particular, Second Thought and Hakim, have both recently released videos going into depth of the extent of capitalism and exploitation. And I do direct you to watch them to get a better idea than what I'll say here. And what I have to say is dramatically simplifying the situation, so please do check them out. But that all being said, capitalism requires exploitation because it is based on the idea that exploitation, or profits as a liberal/conservative would call it, can and should be extracted by the less educated and/or impoverished people. This is the absolute core of capitalism, even if capitalist nations don't directly exploit their own people, like in a social democracy, then they must exploit someone else. This is done via imperialism, or the softer term neoliberalism, and that requires the exploitation of the third world. Capitalism will always be exploitative, no matter how soft it is. And that includes going to wars in the name of "dempcracy," or by taking the $500 you make the company and only giving you $100 for your labour. And let's take that as the explanation, but again keep in mind I've simplified this an extreme amount for the sake of time. But let's say that your labour directly makes a company $500 for every day of work you do. The company should give you that $500, or at least $450, but no, they'd sooner pay you $100, and would actually make you think that's high. But now let's consider taxes, medical insurance, and the commute to work. All that alone drops your real wage to about $50 for one day of work. And from there you need to take that money and pay for your food, pay for your home, your utility bills, and god forbid you gotta go to the gp or hospital because then you have to cover the co-pay. You directly made a company $500 with your labour, money that will likely never be taxed or spent. And you are expected to think that you got off lucky because you got a fifth of that. You are expected to see that massive difference in wealth production to pay and expect to say that's fine. That is exploitation at its core, and that's not even getting into the lack of democracy in the work place. That's not getting into the fact that despite all the value and wealth you bring to the company they can simply decide to cut your benefits, to cut your pay, or to fire you outright for any given reason. All the while keeping most of that $500 that you made. If that $500 not going into your pocket, because some shareholder who already has billions of dollars wanted most of it, doesn't tell you of the exploitative core of capitalsim then consider the third world. The third world is undeveloped not because of a lack of valuable resources and not because of a lack of stable governments. No, it's all because it remains profitable for these nations to be kept unstable, to be kept undeveloped. Because the exploitation of the unstable nations is far more profitable than the cessation of the tariffs, of the sanctions, and the wars that the US forces upon these nations for the sake of "democracy." Because a stable nation, as some of these third world nations once were, is far more difficult to exploit as the educated masses would demand worker rights, would demand fair pay and benefits, and would demand an end to capitalism.

Way to stick the landing, Charlie! For the absolute idiots saying "Why should we pay the shitty writers?", I'm gonna ask you why should you be paid at work? Why should any of us? We know that a lot of people suck at their jobs. You might suck at yours and don't even know it but I guarantee you don't want your boss to just not pay you. That would never be acceptable cuz you were hired to do the work and you did it. You should be compensated for giving up part of your life to make them money. You should also be paid for creating value for an industry that wants to compensate you less and less and then enslave your likeness for all time (with AI) such that you could then probably be sued for trying to do any work again in that field. This is the early days of the current stage of the war for worker's rights. If we don't try to help them fight this time, well let's just say I hope you don't mind shitty entertainment from now on. This issue will bleed into streaming as well. And you better hope there's absolutely no way for AI to ever take your job (remembering that they have been working on creating working robotic bodies that they can shove an AI "soul" into). Now once they successfully do that, most people's jobs will be gone. Also, I wonder what the death of Hollywood will do to the labor market with all those specialized workers being thrown back into the labor pool to vye for all the low wage jobs in that area. If you have any empathy at all, you'll also realize that a great number of these people will likely end up in skid row, doing sex work, addicted to substances to get through it and some percentage will likely unalive themselves.

@dqarqeer8603 we have to get rid of capitalism, but even though we are in the late stage of it, most people aren't ready to let go. So in the meantime, we have to fight and do the best we can to keep the protections that are already there.
Those execs make too much money to not spread that shit around to the people that actually do the work, which really is all of capitalism, granted if the people in entertainment get their shit together every other normie job will get "woke" and start asking for their real value, celebrity culture not being used to numb the pain of our political hellscape is the best outcome we can get from this baby.

I think, we are also part of the problem. At least the way we consume movies. It's very rare that we mention, respect or talk about writers of movies. I don't want to take starlight away, but remember those Arnold Schwarzenegger and Syslvester Stallone movies in the 80s and 90s? This is how we look into the product. The main actors are the driving force for us. We barely manage to mention the directors in most of the movies and the writers are just way too overshadowed.

The workers deserve to own their workplaces

We have to adapt to the very human condition of corrupting systems and switch out policies and policy makers. Capitalism can work, so can socialism. My brother and I get into arguments about Capitalsim all the time and he's the kinda guy to say capitalism isn't based on exploitation. He never relents though, and no matter what evidence I bring he never fails to put it down in the most liberalistc way he can. But then I call him a liberal for that and he's says he's not a leftist. He's quite insufferable sometimes...
How is it based on exploitation though?
I’m glad you’re incorporating walking into your stream, but the noise gate made this so hard to listen to. I love listening to Hasan at work, but I had to turn this one off because of how annoying the audio was.

I don’t understand how anyone can watch/listen to XQC.

@dqarqeer8603 we have to get rid of capitalism, but even though we are in the late stage of it, most people aren't ready to let go. So in the meantime, we have to fight and do the best we can to keep the protections that are already there.
