I just realised you have to almost take apart the whole controller to just remove a ribbon thing and a screw.
That's with changing every shell. I changed my Switch Lite's shell from the Aquamarine to the Atomic Purple like the N64 controller and holy shit. Go watch a video for that one. That was the sketchiest thing i've ever done in my life lol.

@14:24 I just used a strip of washi tape, folded it onto itself and taped the ends to the strip to "extend" it and guide it though. OH and thank you for this video, my mod was successful! Had to look up other videos on on how to change out the trigger buttons before continuing this video and it really made me appreciate the quality of your video- everyone elses was blurry, far away, dark, no audio/hard to follow

If anyone is worried about doing this. I'm 14 and clumsy (and I know this is cliché) but if I can do it I'm sure you can. Just keep track of where you put stuff I recommend:
- A PH00 Screwdriver
- Tweezers (I didn't really need them)
- A place to put the screws
Go slow, this took me around 3 hours in one sitting. Good Luck.

The Xbox controller is so much easier than this! I was going to get a matching shell but no way 😭
Seems a lot more difficult than its Xbox counterpart. Nonetheless, great video. Very detailed and helpful.
I didn't need to to replace the top I needed to put the thumbstick in and that's video was helpful I recommend it to anybody with a PlayStation controller

Good instructions this video. Step by step and clear. I tried this but realised my controller was little different components and holders and also realised the golden shell was too big for inside of controller

the buttons look rly cool from the back
You dont really need a pry tool, just apply opposite pressure to both sides of the controller, and then the shell will pretty much just pop off, ive used this technique on both of my controllers.

THE SCREW BIT IS THE HARD BIT.
I think they glue the new PS4 controller screws in or something because no matter what I do they won't budge.
That ribbon cable scares the hell out of me, all I'm trying to do is swap the back casings on my regular black PS4 controller in my magma red PS4 controller so that way I can have a PS4 controller that looks more like the wave one red PS4 controller

Does this work for all models of controller? I still have the white controller that came with the destiny bundle when is first came out and want to change the skin on it. Or is it for only the newer controllers?

The casing I had did not have the little pins that stick out for the home button. I tried to take off the shell and broke one of the pieces that hold the controller together, I failed.
The only reason I watched this is to take my front plate off so I can hydro dip it but this is still very helpful

What is the difference between models with the shells some show not compatible
you sure like touching that controller. I replaced mine from a broken one I also had, and was done before the video finished. Helpful video indeed

For some reason my screws won’t fit on the motherboard. Do you know if the screw for the motherboard is a different size than the four on the back of the controller?
The shell is changes because it looks cooler and it is stronger so you can rage all you want.

I managed to take to controllers that once worked and tried to swap the case of one to the other one and wasn’t able to do it properly and now have two in pieces controllers, this is my error

So you would assume all's you have to do is unscrew the face plate and then put your new one on. However you have to be a technician at MIT to do this.

Hi Midrq, most of the people that sell shells will tell you in the description which serial numbers the shell they are selling will fit.
How does this work on the new controller? As it seems that Options & Share buttons are connected to the housing.

Ok one thing i found was you mention the gold side of the cord needs to be facing to the outside and the blue side faces the battery when putting the back panel back on. For me the blue had to face away in order to match up the circuit to the teeth. Otherwise the controller turns on but the light is off and it won’t charge.
