I love Damien Leone’s commitment to indie filmmaking and his unapologetic approach to gonzo horror, and even giving the second film a 4/5 I do feel a co-writer may help in terms of narrative structure that can cohesively communicate Leone’s story and character elements (because I am engaged with Siena’s storyline and her connection with Art). But I’m so happy with the immense success Leone, Thorton, LaVera and company are enjoying by tackling a niche horror corner that is void of corporate hands and that audiences are embracing this. Instead of $200 million Joker sequels where artists get $20 million a piece, we need to allow the Leone’s of the world to have the smallest of opportunities to make films that can be niche and successfully prodding a healthy marketplace of variety films and not a binary mindset to what movies can be.

checked out of this franchise after the saw scene in the first one. I hate the content, but have massive respect for Leone when I hear him interviewed. Love what he's trying to do, even if it's not for me. It is also interesting to hear the comparisons between Terrifier and Joker as thought "Indie beat Hollywood". Really? Because from what I've heard, Joker may have Hollywood money behind it, but it is absolutely NOT a Hollywood film. It is a Phillips and Phoenix film. They seem to have complete control on that one. Also, Joker made like 9 times what Terrifier did. It bombed because it's budget was insane, not because less people went to see it. The reason Hollywood doesn't support creators is because their movies traditionally don't do as well. I mean Hemsworth's salary for Transformers was more than Terrifier's entire budget. Why is that? Because Thor 3 made almost $800 million dollars, even though it kinda sucked. I am happy for Terrifier, but it's lightning in a bottle. Sadly, it is not a reliable bet. Big names and recognizable brands is what cleans up at the box office, so that is what they bet on.
@@SydneyVolpebold but true. I wasted 2 hours of my life sitting through joker folie at times feeling sleepy!! It needed more action like in Terrifier 2 to make it interesting. Anyways, thanks or the review and you are as beautiful as ever!
@billeatson6190 I think the Joker sequel definitely should of been like Terrifier. A movie where Joker just goes Nuts and brutally kills like Art. Only in the serous of tone of the first film. Like instead of the musical/court room thing, Joker 2 should of been a brutal horror film.
Not bad. Definitely low production value but you see the potential in Art. At least I could. May as well just watch All Hallows' Eve though. It contains the The 9th Circle and the short film Terrifier as part of the anthology plus a messed up scene of Art at the end that is unrelated. Yes same name as the original film I know. Of the two the Terrifier short film is better in my opinion than The 9th Circle and has one particularly brutal scene at the end.
I've never seen any of these movies, and have been a bit hesitant in whether or not I want to. I'm a huge fan of Freddy Krueger, and Chucky, and love all of the movies of each franchise, but I'm not really a Micheal Myers, or Jason fan. I dont really like mindless slashers. With that being said, do you think I should give this franchise a chance?
If you like practical effects, yes. If you like foreign splatterhouse movies that shower everyone in blood, then yes. If you're expecting a thrilling story with complex characters, avoid. They are extreme gross-out movies from beginning to end - very over the top. I find them hilarious, but if you are disturbed by body horror, stay far away.
I think they’re absolutely worth it! Bear in mind the first one is VERY thin on story and heavy on gore, which is why a lot of people don’t love it. The second one is such a massive step up and creates a really interesting story/characters. The third one is kind of in the middle lol.

What I hate about Art the Clown is what he'll ultimately do to the horror genre. We already have an entire generation of kids who judge horror films strictly on the kill count and gore, they care nothing about suspense, tension and mood and now we have these Terrifier films that are going out of their way to showing every horrible thing that a killer can do to a person without restraint which is going to make that situation worse in the long run. Now, whenever a new Halloween film or Friday the 13th film comes out everyone is going to then judge them based on Art the Clown..."Art is way better than Michael or Jason!" is what they'll say and why? Because he's more brutal and for no other reason.
This isn't a Art The Clown problem, in fact it isn't even a problem really it is just an outcome of the culture around horror movies. Those who seek this kind of movie will always compare other villains to Art, same as how Friday the 13th fans did and how Halloween fans did etc
I don’t really agree, there are still so many story driven horror films that are finding success - Longlegs, The Substance, Trap, sure Terrifier will be compared to other big slashers but that’s kind of the name of the game with the big bads in that genre
