Does 1234yf have different fittings?
Vehicles with R-1234yf have different service fittings than R-134a vehicles to prevent cross-contamination with different refrigerants. R-1234yf is very expensive. This has led to end-users trying to replace the refrigerant in vehicles originally containing R-1234yf with R-134a, in an attempt to save money. Also, it's illegal to put R-134a or any other refrigerant into a car originally equipped with R-1234yf. Fortunately engineers have designed the fittings to be different sizes, the threads for the charging hose and refrigerant canisters are reversed.
Is R134a and 1234yf compatible?
The answer is an emphatic, “No.” Not only would a retrofit of this type negate the environmental benefits of R-1234yf, but it would also be a violation of Federal Law under Section 203 of the Clean Air Act: “tampering” with a vehicle's emissions control device.
R-1234yf is an environmentally friendly refrigerant that is vastly different when it comes to its chemical makeup, compared to R-134a. R-1234yf has a 99.7 percent lower global warming potential (GWP), the standard of measurement used to describe greenhouse gases' effect on the environment.
Another advantage of the R1234yf system is that this refrigerant uses a similar system of materials - pipes, hoses, sealing rings - as the R134a system. This means the gases are relatively interchangeable with minimal systematic and logistical amendments. This new generation coolant requires a unique cap and seal configuration to match the new valves and fittings.

How about the hi and low pressure valve cap? Is it the same sizes? Or they have spe ific sizes?
The mechanic lost my valve caps. But the problem is it's been 6 mos. I just noticed it last week. So need to replace it but it's really difficult to find R-1234yf specifically .
Low pressures tubes are wider, on that will be the low pressure cap. High pressure cap is bigger than low pressure cap

@@JSFGuywell. Putting r134 in a R1234 system is considered emissions tampering. So this is why I bring it up

Emissions on a vehicle is about what it emits through combustion and combustion related by products. For clarity, a sealed system such as air conditioner has what to do with that?

Calling bullshit on the fittings, not your video. If the stuff is "environmentally friendly" then why gatekeep the fittings? They could use standard air hose fittings which are readily available and cheap. The answer to why they do this, is so they can charge you more for "special" equipment. It's all a lie, and it has been from the very start. How convenient that their "ozone holes" are way up in the atmosphere where noone other than "them" can actually verify their existence. What a scam. It actually funny when you think of it. lol
