thats how war works, on paper it is a battle of skill but in practice ancient battles like these were chaotic, in a fight its hard to maintain formation, all though, Rome did it better than anyone else at the time.
In fact the gallic army was composed of several tribes and had to fought on two front because Rome sent 2 armies. The first pne engaged the Gauls by the South and was leaded by Lucius Aemilius Papus, the second by the North and leaded by Caius Atilius Regulus. The battle started with a cavalry engagement on a hill which turn to the roman's advantage even if gallic horsemen had been able to behead the roman consul Caius Atilius Regulus. Here came the velites who engage the gallic naked warriors (called Gesatae) of the southern front line who were forced to withdraw because of their lack of decent armour. The second army did the same on the northern front which was hold by the Taurisquian and Boian warriors. They resisted a long time and held strong. The southern line was at this time only hold by few survivors naked warrior and Insubrian infantry who were gradually collapsed. At this time, the roman cavalry who took the hill at the beginning of the battle charged the flanks of gallic army. The battle ended. Romans loose 10 000 mens, Gauls 40 000.

Wow, amazing presentation! As another commentor noted, the details of the battle aren't all correct here, but the potential of this format is massive, as you've shown. Combining Rome 2's graphics with Rome 1's superior sound design (though I would still prefer to use Roma Surrectum III for the visuals) makes for an impressive experience. The only thing that I would like to see more of is the overhead view of the battle, combined with narration or English subtitles to explain the major maneuvers. You could even try an occasional general's-eye view and some narrating/subtitling to try to explain the thought process of the general when he made a brilliant move or costly blunder. That would work at points in the written accounts when the sources are clear that the general made a key decision. Did you play this battle with a human, so as to coordinate the details, or was it against the AI? Having a human on the other end using discord or skype would really help you make the battle look exactly how the historians think it probably would have. Thanks for your hard work!
Thanks for comment, I made everything alone so its not easy, but i'm trying my best, my idea is to make beginning of the movie in documentary view, and rest just pure battle, if i make subtitles in the middle of the battle i will broke that, but I will think about this, thanks, Greetings
The tunics, equipment and weapons of the Celts found during archaeological excavations in particular in France (Gaul: Burgundy, Auvergne) show a great technicality sometimes better than the Roman (forged sword).
I would like to see more about the tactics and how they unfolded, and less just a video on carnage. Maybe an overhead view would be nice too. 4 stars out of 5.
i wonder if all that blood gushing is historically accurate. and, why does everyone get their heads slashed off? romans were known for using their swords to stab, not slash.

Steven Green I'm already subscribed to both of those channels. The thing is, this video tries to show the battle on the battlefield. That is not especially common to see. I like that idea. I think if there were more areal overhead footage, and if the scenes did more to tell a story instead of just a blood bath, it would be better. It's like watching American football. The camera is zoomed in so close, i can't see what's going on. Much of the time, all i see is the scrum at the line of scrimmage. I don't know if you are American or if you watch American football, but there if you do, there you go. When it comes to information, my favorite channel is Historia Civilis. The Gauls and the Celts: the northern Israelite tribes. The classic use of slingshot - "David's slingshot" and deployed against the Assyrians in the 8th century BC.
Cant you turn off "projectile trail" makes any battle look odd especially when nothing makes a trail like that. There aren't jets behind trailing smoke lol
Can anyone tell me why the Romans attacked the Gauls/Celts? Was it for territory, glory, or had the Celts disobeyed an ancient Roman order or law of some sort?
I've always thought about that, with this kind of warfare. If you're in the front, you've got to know it's your last day on earth. No matter how good of shape you are in, you will eventually get exhausted, and not be able to keep going.
Graphics are pretty good for that game but the Gaulish cavalry didn't have round shields, they used oval ones like the infantry. Romans had round shields but the Roman cavalry here look like late republic/early empire cavalry who were typically sourced from allied nations like the Gauls or Spanish. I think the Gauls were still using chariots at this time too.
Cetls ,same as Greeks or Ilyrians lost from Romans because they did not have a strong state to suport logisticly they war.Romans had a lot of resources ,money and mereceneries

THX to this video!
What's up with the Rise Of Nations music in the background?
That’s music from the original Rome Total War
The Gauls and the Celts: the northern Israelite tribes. The classic use of slingshot - "David's slingshot" and deployed against the Assyrians in the 8th century BC.
The sound, when a spear is hit in the head, is more like a sound when the tomatoes are crushed. )
how did you remove the cursor?
Cant you turn off "projectile trail" makes any battle look odd especially when nothing makes a trail like that. There aren't jets behind trailing smoke lol
i think the trails are pretty cool
Kaiser Moneybags yeah same I think their pretty cool too
Awesome !
I like your vids and I appreciate your work! Would you ever use mods to improve the look of your units?
I try some rosters but they not good enough
True Legions for True Romans is a beautiful mod for the Roman Armies. And Atilla's Ancient Armies adds a lot of good skins for other factions.
"all that said." Yes, a true battle cry..
Cool 👌
This is amazing
thanks :)
Really cool. You should do the talking and buildup at the very beginning quickly so most of the battle is just action
Can anyone tell me why the Romans attacked the Gauls/Celts? Was it for territory, glory, or had the Celts disobeyed an ancient Roman order or law of some sort?
I won that battle as theCelts in TotalRome War and none of you could stop my stud general prowness muahhahahah
Класс! В таком формате посмотреть бы все исторические баталии!!
What is the soundtrack that you used?
Rome Total War Soundtrack - Romantic Battle Greetings ;)
Thanks man, awesome video by the way. Took me hours to find it.
The guys on the front row were cheering less than further back. :)
I usually play this game in the evening, It make me relax
wonderful!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Were doing this one naked boys! Jokes on them, we can't shit our pants if were not wearing any! Tremble before our mighty rocks on a string.
You guys in the titles say romans vs celts but in the video you end up saying Gauls instead of Celts
Brasileiro é foda... olha a legenda em 2:11 "Serjão berranteiro"

No it’s just edited in
Why are postmarian legionaries mixed with premarian's in 225 BBC?
Basically the game... no tactics, no discussions of anything... just ripping off a game. Great.
Did u use mods on this?
If the dog just attacks they could have win the fight hahaha
