    LOL! The emotions you felt while drilling the tile pretty much sums up every single project I do around the house. Frustration to almost giving up, to pure joy when I get it done.

    What is your strategy on hiding pipes / waste, when you fit the pedestal sideways? (i..e when you enter some bathroom, you see the basin / pesdestal on the side and you can see all those pipes). When these pipes are old, people paint them over... it does not look nice. Just wondering what are your ideas?

    ive found if u put the gun on about half speed the blades on the tile bit cuts and clears far better and doesnt heat as much

      I did have a discussion with a workmate about how to use the Bosch tile drill bits. Anyway,
      I phoned Bosch and they did say as you have said, keep your drill on slow speed but they also insisted that you should NEVER dip them in water, drill for 10 seconds at a time and completely stop drilling for 4 to 5 seconds before continuing. I use their advice and my drill bits are still working well. Had them nearly 4 years now.

    Good tip for drilling holes in tiles on floor. put a ring of Blu-Tak/plastercine around hole-to-be-drilled, fill with water, drill! (Fuck only knows with holes in walls!)
    Keep it tight, braaapppppppp!

    Hi I think your brilliant with all your helpful videos but this 1 I would use aqua seal as used for fish tanks as it is much stronger

    Have u tried using ceramic drill bits?

  • @technishun
    @technishun 9 лет назад

    As far as the drilling goes, how 'bout a squirt bottle while drilling (much slower bit speed would be very beneficial - ceramic is a metal...)?
    Also, for very hard tiles, use the same approach as above for breaking the glaze, then continue with a hammer function (hammer drills are normally slow revs).

    what did the screws cling to that went threw the basin and into the tile?

    Far be it for me to offer advice to you. However, for porcelain tiles the only way I have found to drill them easiest is to use diamond cores 6 or 8mm. They can be expensive. But, I buy a pack of 10 cheap ones from eBay (£5.00 or so) and they work well. I buy a pack per job and use a bit per hole as they are cheap. You do need to buy or make a jig to start you off.

    • @ZanderKaneUK
      @ZanderKaneUK 8 лет назад +1

      unless the jig is cheap ,which they normally aren't you could just use an off cut of timber with the correct sized hole to drill through onto the tile, always bits of timber on the van. Side note anyone tried the Bosch multi construction bits? Oh and make sure you don't have hammer on when drilling.

    • @cliffcarlo180

      Some plumbers putty the top of the pedestal and lower the basin on to it to bed it in then trim the putty with a knife. They do silicone around the base, however (floor) to stop water ingress.

    What about showing how to install a 'U' Bend and Waste Pipe down through the floor alongside the water pipes - also coming up through the floor,,,!!!
    The idea would be to 'hide' the Waste Pipe and the Water Pipes 'inside' the Pedestal so they don't show,,,,!!!
    How would you do that,,,,???

      Absolute rubbish. They aren't even made by Bosch. Made in China and sold cheap as shite to Bosch who brand them. Standard masonry bits are 10 times better.

    Them tiles are very very hard because they are porcelain.

  • @markrainford1219
    @markrainford1219 8 лет назад

    More exasperating is when after 15 minutes drilling, the bit suddenly flies straight through into a totally useless void in the masonry. Not critical for a basin on a ped, but for an over bath shower screen or a tall ladder rad GRRRR

    • @markrainford1219
      @markrainford1219 8 лет назад

      +mark rainford On another note. Have you not used those cheap chinese diamond bits? Cheap enough to buy 10 at time, and I can get 6 holes in hard porc.
