  • It's so easy, anybody could rebuild one. This one sits on a v8 292 1963 Ford F-250 . I'm not a mechanic but it's so easy you can do this.

One of the few videos on this very common carburetor. I appreciate your positive attitude, common sense, and taking the time to help people. Rebuilding my carb on ‘66 Mustang, and also have a Chilton’s Manual. I like Chilton’s and Clymer manuals, RUclips, factory service manuals, and reading/research. Too bad most people are getting away from skills such as these nowadays.

Thanks Mike, I agree 100% people are moving away from working with their hands. The Roman empire did the same thing, and got so fat off of entertainment food and drink that they couldn’t even protect themselves against small forces. And here we are. If you have not subscribed please Do so. Keep in touch.

I have already done this on my own a week ago, but it was good to listen to your straight forward and honest approach. My 79 f150 (recent purchase) was fuel starved and could not idle until it got warm. Took my time rebuilding the carb (while removing a ton of gunk) and it now runs great and can idle cold. Nice job educating and hopefully people can find this useful.

Have being working on those carburetors for quite a while. One thing I found out, is that PIne Sol is a great cleaning agent for the carburetor. I dip them in pine sol, and let soak for a day or two, then wash the parts with hot water, andd finish it with the air gun. Worked on many different carburetors, Holleys, Carters, Webbers, but none can beat the Autolite / Motorcraft in reliability.

5:27 you want to be careful tightening the power valve. It takes a big wrench to fit it, but that same wrench can easily overtighten it and strip it. Happened on a Holley 4160 carb I had.

When cleaning the needles, I use a red Scotch Brite pad and either Starrett oil or PB blaster to lubricate. I think a green pad or a wire wheel may be a little too abrasive, red is a little finer and will polish the needle a little nicer.

    This carb is a 2150 not a 2100

It said on the carburetor 2100, when I bought the carb kit I took it to my carburetor mechanic and he verified it was at 2100 as well.

Dude! At 15:55 you counted 2.5 turns out but only turned 2.5 HALF turns!! Is this a joke video? I'm no mechanic either but come on!

Sorry not to live up to your expectations. I’m glad I have a lot of critics, that’s what this world needs is a lot more critics.

Back to the Basics 101 Hey dude, I'm not trying to be a critic. Just trying to help. Sorry you took it the wrong way. 3/4 of a turn out is waaay off. If you are too defensive to accept a little advice then good luck burning out your valves!

I suppose the similarity to tractors & lawnmowers had something to do with the terrible fuel economy and EMISSIONS on these old Yank shitboxes then?

No....large capacity engines and heavy weight. They do last though if you look after them which is the point here!
