There is no way through it. It always is and will be but you can cope like most people, or let it ruin your life like the way it has for mine. After a long time it hit me, Loneliness or alienation isn't the problem, it's you as a social creature that allows it to be one.
Elliot talks about how he hacks everyone. Kind of makes you think about those signs placed on his coworkers. Are they just place holders meant to illustrate that everyone hides something or actual secrets that Elliot knows from hacking them.
Just imagine how haunting, yet a relief it must be to hear: “I know everything about you, warts and all, yet that doesn’t matter because I see you and I need you”.
Don't care about the fact that this AWESOME show has finished. I will never stop watching it! This literally is the BEST TV show to ever be created, and I'm never letting it go. It's become apart of me over the years. Thank you, Sam Esmail!

Even in context its def creepy and WAY overstepping his boundaries but its meant to show how much of a broken person Elliot is despite how much good he tries to do with his skills
It's so relatable it physically hurts. There is no way out. The more you struggle the further down you sink, like quicksand. No one can save you from yourself.
This scene is absolutely perfect , I can't even say how many times I've watched it , i'm obsessed with it : The pacing , the dialogues , the cinematography , the acting and the fact all of those things come together as the culmination of a long setup of Eliott holding in his secret identity and his pain .... it's just brilliant. I think it might be the best scene in this masterpiece of a show and it's not even a hacking scene , it's just Rami Malek perfectly playing a deeply complex character's emotional breakthrough.
In retrospect looking back at this scene, I think the reason Krista initially lets Elliot go as a patient is she realizes in this scene that she's been incompetent and that he is a far better psychiatrist than she is.

5:20 is a concerningly accurate depiction of someone looking for an excuse to kill themselves. He's trying to cut off his only exits, so he has no option left but that last one.

He's basically doing emotional terrorism, trying to make sure that even if he gets to the point where he's willing to ask her for help, she won't help him. My favorite moment of this show has to be in Season 3, Elliott gets himself back in check and back on routine but even then, he can't escape the loneliness
I had passed over this series when it was being broadcast. After watching a number of these clips I am regretting that decision. The quality of the work here is outstanding on a number of aspects. Kudos!
That last scene is so simple, yet one of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen. I watch it all the time. At least 40 or 50 times now. And it has never once failed to not make me tear up.
The acting, the music, the shot choices, the camera angles- all come together to form a devastating scene... and you don't even need to watch the show to understand the scene and feel its power. GREAT work.

I understand Elliot so much in the last part. Except I never hacked people. But I use to people watch until I understood the simple secret that we are nothing more than sum of our motivations. That all of our actions is in service to one goal or another. After a few years, I was able to use that to predict what people are gonna do and what they went though. While it is no where as invasive as Elliot's hacking, you harvest all that you can learn to feel ... close to someone ... anyone. And by the time you realize that it can't bring you closer to humanity, it is too late because it is all you know. The power to understand and see the things that few people care to grasp without a real reason to do anything with it. A cosmic waste and divine irony at it's peak.

Someone telling you what you did the morning before you got there and all your vices would be terrifying and uneasy. Which is why this was probably a top 5 scene in the show because she didn’t deserve that at all, and her reaction is chilling because how would you react to someone telling you things you literally dont want anyone to know but yourself? And yeah its very useful in forensics since RAM stores a lot of data before processed by the CPU so system calls etc which can determine the last actions being taken by someone suspected of cyber crime.
RAM is volatile so all data in memory is lost upon power loss. Also cold freeze recovery methods wouldn't work in this case. Perhaps he is being very pedantic which is what one would expect from a security engineer.

generally if the patient is a risk of harm to themselves or to others (usually related to physical safety more than anything) then they are obligated to report it. for nonviolent crimes like hacking it would probably be at their own discretion ie how much of a narc they want to be. a good psychiatrist, while being taken aback by the knowledge they were being hacked, would see that this is a cry for help and an attempt to connect in the only way they can. krista understood this
she never broke patient confidentiality, about this, the dog, or anything else. the reason elliot got charged (for grand larceny) is because flipper was microchipped and got scanned (shown at 2:57), and "michael hansen" reported elliot to the police after being hacked

as I said, just a guess as I don’t know the date. It looks very similar to windows 95, but could be some distro. Although I don’t know any distro that looks similar to what he has and there are references to him liking gnome. So my gues is either windows or an old/ new very very heavily modified version of gnome.

it was to make sure the data within is gone for good and cannot be recovered. Simply deleting it wouldn't have gotten rid of it

generally if the patient is a risk of harm to themselves or to others (usually related to physical safety more than anything) then they are obligated to report it. for nonviolent crimes like hacking it would probably be at their own discretion ie how much of a narc they want to be. a good psychiatrist, while being taken aback by the knowledge they were being hacked, would see that this is a cry for help and an attempt to connect in the only way they can. krista understood this

she never broke patient confidentiality, about this, the dog, or anything else. the reason elliot got charged (for grand larceny) is because flipper was microchipped and got scanned (shown at 2:57), and "michael hansen" reported elliot to the police after being hacked

as I said, just a guess as I don’t know the date. It looks very similar to windows 95, but could be some distro. Although I don’t know any distro that looks similar to what he has and there are references to him liking gnome. So my gues is either windows or an old/ new very very heavily modified version of gnome.
