Was crazy listening to all the talking heads on espn give all the praise to Love for losing and blamed Purdy for winning because he wasn’t perfect even though he had better stats then Love except for on extra TD but 2 extra int’s. And yea we all know there “could” hav been 2 Purdy pics but Love “ could” have had 4 so could PG’s don’t mean sh!t. I found it odd that Ryan Clark would say the nfl should be thankful Love doesn’t play for the Niners too. So if the rolls were reversed and Purdy was sitting behind Rodgers for 2-3 seasons and Love was the last pic and got his chance to play would Clark’s energy and narrative change for Love or would he bash him like he does Purdy?
People can't stand that he was the last pick in the draft. They were all wrong. He also doesn't look the part. Why not celebrate success instead of waiting for someone to fail. Makes no sense.
Karen don't forget the 1980 NFC Championship with Joe Montana throwing three picks and having a fumble versus the Cowboys. He was also throwing away a ball to a receiver who was covered by the best undrafted cornerback in the NFL with 10 picks last season...

I thought the US systems would be the place where we judge people by performance rather than reputation. Guess it’s not with sports media. What is the definition of merit in sports and how people should report it?
Simple, Purdy exposes their incompetence. I have said for DECADES that once a QB has the minimum physical abilities to play the position, what matters is between the ears. But it seems that almost all NFL personnel and talking heads don't get it.
Well they think it's all about that upside! Lol knowing how to play QB is kind like you have it or you don't..

Richard realizes this isn't just about Brock Purdy. This is a society issue. Brock is judged differently because of draft position. Folks can't get out of their own preconceptions. There are situations - sex, race, nationality, etc...where if you're the sole person of that category you're judged differently. Your accomplishments get belittled, ignored or denied - but if you make one small mistake you're vilified. They'll use that mistake as a way to reinforce their own stereotypes. Love throws two interceptions and it's "He's learning the ropes". If Brock threw an interception against the Packers, it would've been "See he sucks! We all told you so."
So what if Purdy was the last pick; what about the fact that Kurt Warner wasn’t even drafted…..
This is making it clear that the draft has often been based more on height and arm strength and not enough on less tangible attributes of a QB like the ability to undertand very quickly what is happening downfield and precision passes to the soon to be open receiver.
Preach it Richard! Truth on every level. Here is a 24...24! year old young man, with the maturity of someone much older, leading a franchise like the 49ers. This kid is an amazing story and the level of ignorance coming from the pundits is flabbergasting.
I think for some of the haters, in their minds Trey Lance was SUPPOSED to be the future of the 49ers, and then out of nowhere comes this Purdy guy who was the last pick in the draft, usurping Trey Lance. And they're mad.
Most of the hate comes from fans of teams he's beaten and he's unrightfully being compared to vet QBs who've been in the league 6-8 years. He needs to be compared to the QBs from his class as he's exceeded all expectations and is still going through the growing pains every young QB has gone through and the result has still been back to back NFCCGs. I like that he's still getting hate and being doubted for these last remaining games, keep fueling that fire. It's better than too much praise at this time like he can do no wrong.
Richard and Eric the reason there is such hatred for the rise of Brock Purdy from Mr. Irrelevant to leading his team to a potential Super Bowl win is simple: There's more money in hatred and sewing division than in love and acceptance.

Americans used to love the underdog story but not anymore. Now everyone roots for the favorite. Also with hip hop culture the public wants QBs that don’t look like Purdy (dressed in Kohls clothes). Brock could easily be mistaken for an accounting or law student in college. This and media and scouts hate being wrong.
All those ESPN people and others like them are envious and blind. Just like Sherman said, they don’t see it.

I think Purdy is a pretty good QB. Don't understand why he gets so much crap.
I've got something - Purdy haters, like Colin Coward, Nick Wrong, and Kayshwan Whom stated that Purdy was the worst player on the field during the first half because he ALMOST threw two interceptions ALMOST!! Let's be serious - every single QB in the history of the game ALMOST threw several interceptions on any given Sunday since 1900! It is part of the game, defense players are all around trying to get the ball, to pick 6 because is money, they get bonuses they get new contracts. From Joe Montana to Tom Brady, Mahones, and Lamar in between, every single QB, good or bad player, ALMOST threw interceptions during their games.
Mahomes threw 2 picks against the Niners in the SB and still won. Didn't even play that well until the fourth quarter, and got the SB MVP.
He also got outplayed by Jalen Hurts in the SB but he ultimately won it.
A QB can make mistakes and still win, even the greatest ones does
Regardless... he had a bad game until it mattered, and that's all that matters.
You know who is irrelevant? Nick Wright, that’s who. I’d take Arik Armistead’s words on anything, and Sherman’s too. They’ve earned that respect….and so has Brock. Purdy has excelled so many expectations and then some. Let’s give credit where credit is due, it’s a team sport and he’s just steering the car! Making it to 2 NFC Championship is a huge accomplishment in just a short amount of time, let’s just appreciate the guy. I don’t know why we have to compare every player, he is his own skill set

Detroit DT#54 Alin McNeill would be among the best in the game if he would more often simply raise his arms & hands when he has a free lane closing in on the QB. That way one can either deflect the pass or atleast obstruct the QB’s vision downfield. But MCNeill too often not doing so prevent Detroit’s defense from being as good as it can be.
Detroit is also preventing their defense from being as good as it can be by not mixing in 3-4 alignments. The 315-pound #54 McNeill would handle things as the Nose Tackle (especially if he more often raised his arms-hands when he has a free lane to the QB) and it would make it possible to move flat-footed WLB#46 Jack Campbell to the inside where is far more suited. But these are things preventing Detroit’s defense from being as good as it can be, as does not letting backup SLB#42 Jaylen Reves-Maybin play more than #55 Derrick Barnes
It feels like these ego driven analysts hate that someone can over achieve to such a high degree. It’s like it’s personal to them. Sorry Nick Wright, you’re never gonna be Ted Copple or Howard Cosell. Doesn’t mean you gotta be a jerk.

Purdy doesnt sell thats the probem. Look at KC and whats going on with kelce and taylor swift. The NFL wants marketable players and purdy doenst give that vibe. He looks like a kid his quiet. They just dont want to see him as a face of the nfl. Thats my honest opinion. Love threw two interceptions for 180 yards has been in the league for 4 years studying under aaron rogers and this analyst keep saying he has a bright future abd better than purdy.
Brock Purdy is great this coming from Seahawks fan but can we give some love to Trent Williams because the only three regular season games that Brock lost was without his great left tackle Trent Williams in fact he is 0-3 without him.

Maybe brock is just the emmit smiths of qbs just effective but not the best at anything but solid at everything...kind like when you compare showtime barry to emmit you wouldnt think emmit was special like that even though hes topn5 all time.
