Same here. I was rooting for 49ers to win, but I would have supported anyone taking on the Chiefs. Seriously, they need to beat the Chiefs now. (And I hope CMC is okay.)
As a Packers fan, once the Niners start scoring, you know immediately the Niners have a huge amount of momentum come and then play all gas, no brakes football! The Lions absolutely had a phenomenal season and will come into being a team, to where it could be one to watch out for
I said that same thing before the half. I mentioned that you can’t mess with this team and you HAVE to put them away in the playoffs with any points you can get.
As a Niner fan I can honestly say I'm excited for the future of the NFC playoffs with GB and DET back in the mix. I see some fun rivalries and also heartbreaking losses for everyone.
During the regular season, when the Lions went for 2 against the cowboys, got the penalty and then went for two from the 7 yard line, I said right these, the Lions will lose in the playoffs due to the coach being a bone head. And last night I was proven right. They had a 17 point lead. The Niners cut it to 14. They had the opportunity to extend it back to 17 and keep the Niners in a hole. Instead he went for it on 4th down and failed... Do you know how a defense reacts to a 4th down stop and Leominster points off the board? Do you know how the crowd responds to this? Do you know how the offense takes the field after all that? It was now a 14 point game with the ball in their hands. They could go from 17 down to being in a tight ball game that fast, and they did it. Instead of that, imagine extending the lead back to 17. The Niners just scored, but you matched them. It feels a little hopeless. Even if they score a TD still, you have a chance to extend your 10 point lead. Even another FG looks great. Your team stays focused on this great game they are playing. Instead, in reality, they get it back again and are only up 7 and the crowd is jumping, and the Lions fumble it. Make no mistake about it. EVERYTHING that happened after that point was due to the Lions coach handing the Niners all that momentum. Think about the Niners locker room at halftime. What do you tell them? Stay calm and patient. We're down 17, but we just want to put points on the board and get a defensive stop. That's the entire goal. And the Lions played right into it giving the Niners all they needed. I just cannot get over the coach going for it in that scenario. Extend your lead back to three possessions. There is no other decision to make.
Me too. I said that to already console myself for the probable loss. Then we go up huge. Then the 2nd half happens and some of the worst coaching I’ve ever seen. WTF Dan still love him but lord use your head sometimes

Unfortunately, they also deserved to lose due to the coaches boneheaded decision to not put points on the board. You go into the second half with a 17 point lead. How many points do you even need in the second half to win? 10? 13? Why did he think kicking a FG would be a bad decision?
@hagamapama maybe so, but let's compare the two scenarios. Go for it on 4th down and fail. Defense is pumped and celebrating. The crowd is jumping and screaming. Cardinals fan from Michigan. This Lions season really felt like the playoff run the Cardinals had. So close yet not able to pull it off. The NFC championship felt similar. It's hard being a Lions/Cardinals fan.
@jackbodner8741 As a Niners AND Lions fan... "got too greedy" not really, or at least not completely. That "greed" got the Lions there in the first place. The Lions simply missed way too many passes and tackles. None of this would've mattered if Reynolds made his catches. And then if the Lions won, everyone would've pissed on Moody for his missed kick. This simply reminded me of the 2013 Season NFC Championship when the Niners lost to the Seahawks... but I knew the Niners would be back. So will the Lions.
Lions fan here, never been so devastated despite the incredible season. Everyone needs to remember that we have never been to a super bowl and we absolutely were capable. It is so difficult to make it this far and to be in the position we were in (24-7) only to lose.... its hard to put into words. The second half was an unmitigated disaster and the crazy part is Goff didn't really do much wrong. Everyone around him seemed to let him down time and time again. 49ers capitalized on every mistake.... and that's the game. I'm dead inside right now but i do have faith in Brad Holmes improving the team for another run next year. Cheers 9ers fans, please put an end to Taylor Swift's smile.
As a niners fan it felt bad to play the lions. One of the few teams I would’ve rooted for even if we lost. Your team is good and will be back. Losing big games is awful, and that’s all we’ve done the last thirty years so I get it lol.

I grew up just south of the Michigan border, and "watching Detroit snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" has long been my family's favorite Thanksgiving tradition. This game went exactly how I expected.
Lol lions fan here. 🤣 honestly I couldn't believe that. The biggest for me was that Aiyuek catch. Utterly insane. Then the immediate fumble turned td. The missed catches that were in their hands hurt but man. Lol 😆 that was not fun to watch in the second half. 😅 I suppose opposite for you
I feel like Tom had a Nostradamus moment and called the Lions and Ravens losing since he released the NFC/AFC finale before the games. That or he really is the NFL Script Writer we've been seeing in his videos all season!
Right? Both of them and the Lions are leading at the end and the 49ers have to get a field goal to force overtime…he’s done this before but been bailed out, this time, didn’t happen.
Exactly... me as a Packer fan saying, "Hey, I've seen this game before." I was in total deja vu mode watching the poor Lions and their fans seeing it all slip away at the end... so eerily familiar and bizarre...😂
As a 49ers fan, congrats on a great game. The playoff battles between the Lions and 49ers are far, few, and in between, but this was an absolute classic. I'm looking forward to the rematch next season.
I'm not. This was our one chance. We had the NFL on our backs and yet fumbled it. Next season, I can guarantee we won't even make playoffs. This is the Lions. We win, then we fumbled, then we lose for decades.

"Is this what the Packers go through every year?" Great line. That fluke catch was the death blow. That play was all luck. My heart broke and I'm a Packer fan.
Summed up my feelings perfectly as a Lions fan. That 2nd half was just soul-crushing, knowing we had such a commanding grip on things at the half and all we needed to do was keep playing our game, and suddenly everybody forgets how to play and let Goff down. I know in time I'll be able to look back at this season and think "man that was amazing" but right now, it's nothing but pain because of how it ended. I'd mentally prepared myself all year that we would lose to the 49ers if we ran into them, but never did I imagine in such a gut-wrenching fashion.
The Lions were fighting uphill the whole game, on the road, against a better roster. I'm not surprised the better team won. No disrespect to the Lions, they did really well but they were the lesser team and talent won out.
This nfc championship was the absolute definition of it ain't over till its over. With both teams evenly matched for 58, this next Super Bowl is gonma be one to remember for sure.

The moment I knew it was over for the Lions was when CJGJ started waving to the crowd when the first half ended. It was heartbreaking to watch, since I feel like everyone was in the Lions corner. I certainly was.
This hurt. Even when they were up had a bad feeling in my gut. Why are yhey so bad in the 3rd quarter? Thanks for all your hard work tom. Enjoy superbowl weekend. 👍
If a team is up by too much too early into the game as in when the game barely started, its usually not a good sign for that team. Goes for all the main team sports like baseball basketball and soccer
I understand being aggressive on 4th down … but going up by three scores (17 points) in a conference championship game is huge. Instead, that play was the beginning of the end. Several minutes later, their lead was gone. Then, when they had the chance to tie it back up, Dan Campbell doubled down, and they unsuccessfully went for it again. It reminded me of the Cowboys game. And it came back to haunt them. With those six points … their final touchdown would have given them the lead. With three of those points … all they needed was a stop, and they could have gone into overtime. But, no, the entire nation got their hearts broken.
This game was so incredibly painful as a lions fan I don’t even know how to describe how I feel right now. We really had it in our hands. Lets come back stronger next year!

As a Giants fan I was really devastated by this loss. I really wanted the lions to win it all 😢
As an Eagles fan I agree
Auyuk circus catch was the turn of the tide. The football goods literally handed us a TD.
It was the ladybug that did it
Lions fan here, never been so devastated despite the incredible season.
At least it wasn't 28-3.
Mariners fan here... different sport, I know, but being the only team to never make it to the world series we feel your pain
As a niners fan it felt bad to play the lions. One of the few teams I would’ve rooted for even if we lost. Your team is good and will be back. Losing big games is awful, and that’s all we’ve done the last thirty years so I get it lol.
This comment is pure gold.
Why is it the 2nd half of our games we seem to struggle, that needs to be fixed next year.
the scriptwriters using the 1957 script but swapping roles was an insane move
Lions fans, I just wanna say you had a hell of a run. As a bills fan who also endured horrible pain and suffering, I wanted you guys to take it all the way. Good luck next season
dude youve at least made 4 superbowls we cant even make one,its beyond pathetic
@jasondeslatte7611 sure but that was well before I was alive. I grew up in the abyss era
As a Packers fan i can confirm we go through that pain every year
Yup!
Try being a Miami fan. The heartbreak comes mid season
There are precious few teams less worthy of sympathy than the packers.
Packers fans have no idea what pain is. Take ur 30years of HOF qb play and f off lolol
You have Super Bowl wins and division wins every year....get out of here with that nonsense.
I grew up just south of the Michigan border, and "watching Detroit snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" has long been my family's favorite Thanksgiving tradition. This game went exactly how I expected.
I literally almost broke something when Campbell went for it instead of tying it. At that point I knew it was over
Shout out to that ladybug that landed on Aiyuk's shoe!
That was a nice bit to hear! He just knew once it landed on his shoe😄
As a 49ers fan, I’ll admit I thought we were done. But my God I’ve never been so happy to be wrong
We all did except my dad. I should listen to my dad every time now 😂
I’ll admit, thought we were done too.
😅 I suppose opposite for you
You should have been
I'M ALWAYS FAITHFUL I NEVER GAVE UP (if the lions scored a third touchdown I was ready to walk away lmao)@@aust236
This reminds me so much of the falcons vs 49ers nfc championship game, from a falcons fan to lions fan, we know your pain
I feel like Tom had a Nostradamus moment and called the Lions and Ravens losing since he released the NFC/AFC finale before the games. That or he really is the NFL Script Writer we've been seeing in his videos all season!
Kick. The. Damned. Field. Goal. Dan.
Too little to late
Right? Both of them and the Lions are leading at the end and the 49ers have to get a field goal to force overtime…he’s done this before but been bailed out, this time, didn’t happen.
HAHAHA LIONS ALWAYS CHOKE 😂
Yeah, tell the coach who got there partly because of these kinds of plays how to do his job. Amazing
@@mattsisoler6125 requires you to tell the future. He just did what got him there
3:59 real pain 24/7 😢
I've watched most of the primetime streams this year and have enjoyed every second. Thanks for a great season Tom.
Exactly... me as a Packer fan saying, "Hey, I've seen this game before." I was in total deja vu mode watching the poor Lions and their fans seeing it all slip away at the end... so eerily familiar and bizarre...😂
3:50
“Maybe we could get the Onside-“
“NOPE.”
Bro.....the Packers fan cameo had me rolling🤣.....thanks for making this season fun!!!
That was Tom breaking the 4th wall
Giving the Cowboys the Obi Wan line makes me feel the tiniest better about the post season... thank you.
@@bluelynxworld4748 there's still no shame. The Lions were just one big meme, and you gave the world a reason to believe. You guys should be proud.
@@bluelynxworld4748 Ouch dude... as a Packers fan we go thru this just about every year. You'll be okey next season... granted the division is gonna be much tougher and Jordan Love looks legit but anything can happen.
@@bluelynxworld4748 Relax The Star curse is over. It's been 50 years. The curse is over.
@@bluelynxworld4748 I entirely disagree. Goff is playing stellar football, and Dan Campbell has my vote for coach of the year. You guys have a solid roster, and I’m sure that the pride will head to a Super Bowl in the near future. You had us in the first half, you really did. Be proud that in the first half you had us wrecked.
As a lions fan I'm happy we did as good as we did. Yes it would have been nice to be in our 1st super bowl but it wasn't our year. Still proud to be a lions fan and have actual hope for next year
As a Lions fan, I agree
Absolutely burst out laughing at the segment of the Lions fan slowly reacting to the collapse. It's a very familiar feeling for me as well.
Nothing but total respect for the Lions, that game had me on the ropes. Have hope, at this rate I see a Super Bowl in Detroit’s future soon.
I’m in my 60’s, will I see it before I die?
@@giraffezebra2698 you for sure will, they will never win it all
Yeah except for CJ Gardener Johnson. Fuck that guy
we may go back to SOL and it may be after 2057
Nope@@giraffezebra2698
No tears, Detroit. You gave the whole NFL world a thrill this year, and the thought of both Sam Laporta and Jahmyr Gibbs BOTH being rookies has me thinking you'll go all the way someday soon.
As for you, San Francisco, please do my Silver and Black heart a favor and stop the Chiefs this time. (It helps that my cousin played on special teams/emergency runningback at Iowa State and graduated the same year as Brock Purdy and Breece Hall.)
Hey thanks! Oakland Raider fans back in the day didn't always get that we 9er fans GOT your intense rivalry w/the Chiefs, Never liked them!!!! Then I met their fans here in CA when we played them in the last Super Bowl ...ecch!
No, it’s ok to cry.. lol this happens.. I’m 49 and remember the 98 championship game to this day as clearly as it was yesterday..
Someday should have been yesterday.
We weren't here to give a thrill we were to win.
Not with that bonehead coach
@@cincytino9153that ‘boneheaded’ coach brought us here. Do everyone a favor buddy and fuck right off the bat
"Is this what the Packers go through every year?" Great line. That fluke catch was the death blow. That play was all luck. My heart broke and I'm a Packer fan.
That was PI to start. And if you think it was luck, you haven’t watched much film on BA. Dude is a beast catching, running routes, and blocking.
Pffftt lol, no dude that was pure luck gtfoh
@@nuhuh4564 you’re right. BA closed his eyes and dove in a random direction to grab that ball. Good analysis. Go coach Kadarius up.
Considering all the horrible ref calls and terrible luck the 9ers usually get. I'll take it!!
@@biznatcho7Just stop! 😂 It was pure luck that the ball bounced straight up so BA could catch it. Bwaahaaa, have you watched film on BA? STFU!
Thanks, Tom. I needed this to recover from the heartbreak.
Don't usually blame the coach for plays made on the field, but Campbell let his cockyness get the best of him.
The Lions were fighting uphill the whole game, on the road, against a better roster. I'm not surprised the better team won. No disrespect to the Lions, they did really well but they were the lesser team and talent won out.
I disagree. Easy to focus on the field goals not tried, but the Lions lost this game on defense.@@grbmajor6645
To quote the great Urinating Tree;
"You gotta catch that sh*t!"
As a lions fan, thank you for bringing some comedy to the heart breaking loss. Love what you do!
Niners fan here, These last two games has aged me like 50 years it seems.
All I’ve been saying is I feel like I’ve aged decades… and have high blood pressure now
I was absolutely horrified by the first half knew we were better then that stressed me out so much
It's the big one Elizabeth! Fred Sanford
The Super Bowl might put you in the ground then. Stay strong!
Love how Tom encapsulates everyone's reactions. As a 9ers fan myself.
I have watched this 100+ times bro lol
You have comedic gold @2:30
I am in tears every time I hear you say, oh no no no no no.
This nfc championship was the absolute definition of it ain't over till its over. With both teams evenly matched for 58, this next Super Bowl is gonma be one to remember for sure.
What's scary and hilarious....As a Niner fan, Tom your reaction is exactly how I felt. ❤😊
Heartbreaking for Lions. 😢
"This time, we don't have Jimmy Garoppolo" cracked me up 😆

And that, dear viewer, is what we in the business call "dramatic irony"
Found you the week of the Niner and Packer game and you’re hilarious! . Idk how you pumped this out so fast but I’m a niner fan and this WAS my reaction watching this game 😅
You need to watch all of Tom’s postings, he’s the NFL fan of the year…officially! Seems a real down to earth guy, funny and such a rabid fan of the game! Always represents all the teams and he is so passionate for his Packers!
As a niner fan, I thought it was over at the half. Thank god I kept watching! Purdy was locked in 🔥
So happy for Purdy!! And of course the rest of the team...lol
This game absolutely broke my heart, and I'm not even a Lions fan. They were so close. Instead we got the Super Bowl matchup I wanted the least. What a disappointing day of football.
Literally 95% of the country wanted Ravens/Lions.
Oh poor babies
It was a GREAT day of football!
@@giraffezebra2698 That game would have had the smallest audience in the history of the Super Bowl.
Agreed. Now we have the TamponBowl again....
The moment I knew it was over for the Lions was when CJGJ started waving to the crowd when the first half ended. It was heartbreaking to watch, since I feel like everyone was in the Lions corner. I certainly was.
4:37 don’t sleep on the puppy bowl 😂
Detroit, great game. You definitely took it to us in the first half. That catch by Aiyuk was ridiculous.
I can’t believe how good this game was

The Greatest Game
As a lions fan did it have to end like that !!!!
Packers fan here... we say this every year. We are still saying it after 14 years...
Good season for the lions. Disappointed in the way it ended but, all in to the future. I will definitely be watching the puppy bowl.😂😂😂
I would not have been surprised for the second half of the game to be nothing but the Lion's fan screaming in horror
you should have shown the 49ers fan just rocking back and forth silently for the first half and offcamera screaming WOOOOOOOOOO for the second 😂
That’s 🧢. I was at the game and we never gave up.
“That was... yikes...” is my new favorite Tom Grossi quote of all time...
2:45 oh my God what was that noise 😂 it sounded like the pain of 100,000 Lions
There were so many crazy plays in that game he could only react with one person per play, what an incredible game
I would have added a Browns fan patting the seat next to them telling the Lions fan to "come back where you belong"
As a Lions fan, I can say you captured my emotions during that entire game with precision. Now, it is just seething anger.
What, questioning Dan Campbell's football IQ or something? lol
As a Lions fan, this is the first time I’ve been able to think about watching this. It still hurts
