CORRECTION @ 13:36: The paramesonephric duct does not become the ovaries. It becomes the uterus and fallopian tubes. Sorry!

Hey thank you so much for this helpful video! I have a question about the cross-section explained from 12:06. It seems that there are two gonadal ridges with the gut tube somewhat in between. Is that correct? In the drawing of the embryo above it looks like the gonadal ridge is one structure...
Another question: In that cross-section the paranephrogenic duct is more proximal to the gonadal ridges than the mesonephric duct, while in the longitudinal view discussed from 15:00 the paranephrogenic duct is more distal to the gonadal ridges...?? Do they actually shift positions or is it just my confusion about what I'm looking at? I find visualising this (and embryology in general) in 3D really difficult!

i dont understand why in min 9:47 you called the endoderm by "epiblaste"

    • @minass
      @minass  2 года назад

You have misunderstood the video, what I meant was "cells migrate from the epiblast" and I was drawing how the cells enter into the embryo from the epiblast. The endoderm is not the same as epiblast.

I have a strange theory or observation: the urogenital system arises from the urinary system. And the wolfian ducts are from the mesonephros but they never say where the Mullerian ducts originate from. They just magiclly appear. they seem to come from nowhere.. they just pop up out of the blue. so I think the devil made them.
Actually I found out they come from tissue stolen from the side of the gut. What a strange and evil thing.

Thank you very much for this wonderful explanation.
As a intersex person who was born with one testis that never fully developed. In as much as it was a ovotestis type structure contained ovarian tissue it became malignant when I was an adult. There was a great deal of other female tissue but I don't have that information on the exact nature of this pathology data. In addition along the midline line of my body the the were a number of mature fetus like germ cell teratoma. At the time the last of these were removed from my abdomen they ranged in size from 10-14.5 cm. I did develop as a male because one testis did mature but has remained on the small size. As you may surmise I have hypogonadism and gender dysphoria. Go figure. Lol
During treatment at the Mayo Clinic I came across a fellow my age who had these germ cells in his brain, lungs and abdomen. While mine were confined to the abdomen region. Of course these germ cells all form along the midline of the body.
My germ cell took on the appearance of a fetus, that is how complete they were.
The main reason I write is that I am confused about my remaining testis? As I said before I do suffer from gender dysphoria and when I was leading up to my malignant stage three cancer my AFP alphafeto protein levels were in excess of 10200. My gender dysphoria was at its most profound stage in my life. I tried to explain this to my spouse but I think she thought I was crazy. Lol
Now many years after surgery and chemotherapy treatments my remaining testis is shutting down and producing very little testosterone yet my estrogen levels remain on the high side. I saw several urologist and were simply confused about the whole situation and passed me onto the next urologist for consultation. The last such doctor suggested that my remaining testis could also contain ovarian tissue similar to the one that became malignant and even suggested that it to be surgically removed at some point. I guess that could be true? Right now this is all speculation. I'm becoming really tired of speculation. Lol
As a side note I personally know of several people who were exposed to DES hormones and developed germ cell teratoma in addition to testicular development issues. One happens to be my brother in law. His mother was given this drug to prevent birth miscarriage. I know of several other people in our small community who were DES babies and developed this sort of cancer.
Even my own spouse has health issues related to DES, as well as two of her sisters and one other brother beside the formation brother.
I found your lecture very informative and will review it several more times to fully digest that information presented. I do plan on reviewing all of your presentations and only wish my teachers presented lectures as well as you have.

PBL Heaven I'm in my sixties.
After seven months of chemotherapy and over twenty surgeries related to this, I'm still alive. Right now I've have several more surgeries pending to repair herniated scar tissue extending from my sternum to my groin. Then I'll have another surgery to repair another herniated scar on my lower right abdomen for a surgical mesh failure.
The urologist I saw last month suggested I consider having my remaining testis removed as it appears to be a ovotestis. He is speculating on this based on the fact my testosterone levels have dropped to about one hundred and change while my estrogen levels are on the high side of normal range.
I have a very difficult time getting sound advice on these subjects from the medical community. There area so many doctors who really haven't a clue about these subjects. As an example when I first felt my testis (ovotestis) being distorted out of shape I went to my doctor within the week. In as much as I was a biology major, had a undescended testis and even a brother in law who had a teratoma, I surmised that was a good place to start looking to see if I had that or maybe it could be cancer. The doctor laughed at me for suggesting these things. I was so embarrassed. But I pressed him weeks later for a blood test and he said there was no test that would prove cancer. All the time this testis kept growing bigger and bigger. We live in the extreme north woods and this clinic was the only one near by. At last he had me see another doctor to do a ultrasound and I could see as plane as day the outline of something extending from my scrotum up the cannel and well up into my abdomen. She insisted that was only fluid and that was that. Back to the first doctor and he too insisted nothing was wrong. Another month and this thing was now three inches and I went in and demanded it be removed. He put me off again but a surgeon at last agreed to do the surgery if he could do it while I was awake. I agreed and shot me with a local novocaine block in my abdomen. The moment he cut my abdomen open the tumor popped out of the hole. I was correct I did perfectly see the outline of a 10cm malignant fetus like teratoma and that doctor was a total fool. What followed was seven months of pure hell of chemotherapy and more surgery at the Mayo Clinic. But even they as good as they were could not fully explain the full cycle of gender development that brought me to this stage in my life.
Oh remember when I asked for a blood test to show if I had something wrong? Well the first thing that was done after the cancer was found was a AFP alphafeto protein and it was 10200 or stage three cancer. So much for there not being a blood test for cancer.
Without question I am very ambiguous when it comes to my gender. Yes I do live as a male but could very easy feel comfortable as a female. It is such a shame the message hasn't gotten out intersex is real. Transgenderism is very real too.
I have no idea of what caused me to develop this way. My uncle did have testicular cancer and some family members have had male reproduction issues. Low sperm counts and such, so this must be a major factor.
If you subscribe to the concept that transgenderism is biological then I do have a third cousin who happens to be transgender. Could this be related?
If you have any planned lectures on these subjects please contact me. If you need medical records for your research let me know. I also have many x-rays, MIR and C scans on my body and even the brain. I did have some issues with chemo brain thus MRI scans were done to rule out issues. These resolved themselves in time.
It has taken years for the nerve damage pain to subside.
I also am interested in DES exposure in fetal development. Or any other EDC endocrine disrupter chemicals. If you have data on this it would be great. The small community we live must have handed out DES in the 50-60-70s like candy as I've found a number of people with issues from it.
Keep up the great lectures and I'll be following.
