My first experience with this ride was the "Wild Claw" at the Pennsylvania State Fair (which hasn't existed in quite some time). I don't do rides like this much anymore, but I do get to Morey's Pier at least once every year; perhaps I'll give "It" another go. I won't argue that it's an incredible experience! The Ohio State Fair incident shook me, as that specific ride had been at the Meadowlands State Fair not too long before; while I didn't ride it, it shakes me that an incident like that could easily have happened to me (or worse, my son or daughter). Another amazing video!
Omg that Wild Claw ride used to come to the Bloomsburg Fair here in PA before we switched companies that supply rides. Coincidentally, the company that supplies the rides now, Amusements of America, is the same company that had the fatal KMG accident. 💀
At a tiny local Michigan fair I went to as a kid, they always had a freak out/fireball ride for the older crowd. Next to the gravitron, it was one of my favorite fair rides growing up. After the Ohio incident, it definitely put people on edge in my town! Very easily could have been us.
I remember the Ohio state fair incident because now “It” at Morey’s piers is closed SO much, probably for that 20 day inspection you mentioned in the other video. It’s my favorite ride

Great Video. Although you should've mentioned the KMG XXL, as it's officially known as "Afterburner XXL" (so a KMG XXL is not its own thing, so to speak), as well as the street fighter from Technical Park as one of the competitioners.
So....about the AoA Fireball... First time I rode it was in 2003 at the state fair. About a week after that, I started having this weird recurring dream about riding it and the part of the gondola I was in breaking off and flying up in the air. It was harrowing to say the least when the incident happened years later
They had this at the Evergreen State Fair and Puyallup Fair this year as "Freak Out", but the one at Puyallup wasn't running when I was there. Mind you, I'd never ride these due to my low ride intensity.
As always it was a really good video. But you could’ve added the Freakout and XXL to the video because they basically do the same thing as Freakouts and they‘re produced by KMG too.
Was an operator on a KMG Freakout ride in Cleveland. A very fun and intense ride. 3 different ride cycles, and over the shoulder restraints. Nice lights as well.
@@timothykaczmarek5871 Wait so you didn't get to control it manually? That's exceedingly rare on European fairs. I swear to god I feel sorry for you Americans sometimes, never getting to experience our amazing European fairs. You gotta visit sometime, when these hard times allow for it :)
@@world_of_kirmes No, we could not control it manually, but COULD give another ride when the first one was slowing down. We could hit the start button to make it cycle again. Consequently, we could stop the ride anytime by hitting the stop button. This was done if someone was either getting sick, or basically 'freaking out' (on a ride called the Freak Out!). But not hitting the E-Stop, as doing so would fuck up the entire ride and maintenance would have to come and reset the computer system!!
@@4220E I enjoyed riding it and operating it. Except for trying to enforce people bringing on cellphone 📱 and other shit that DID fly off the ride. Other than that, it was a fun ride to operate.
I know this comment probably won't be seen but I'd like to say my piece anyway. Lately the FROTW episodes have been about pendulum rides. I'd like to see this series return to covering more unique flat rides. For example: Starflyer (a flat ride I've actually been on multiple times), various pirate ship/swinging ship models, rock n tug/tugboat, various swing rides like Fabbri's Flying Swinger, Gravitron, Himalaya, Tornado, and Technical Park's Super Miami. The examples are simply rides I'm personally familiar with mostly via my local state fair. I hope you take this mild criticism well so that this series will continue showing the creativity of various manufacturers!
Thanks for your comment. FROTW is designed to cover all flat rides at some point, right now we are in the process of going back through pendulum rides as that is what me and Alex feel needs to be covered and their simple history works well with our current busy schedule. Those other rides you mentioned will be covered at some point. Additionally we have already covered a few of those rides in older (lower quality) episodes of FROTW. Next week's episode will be the final pendulum ride episode for a while. Again, thank you for your comment and I hope you enjoy the next few episodes of FROTW!
I'm happy that you read my feedback! I completely understand covering simpler rides when you're busy. It's good to hear that the usual diversity of rides covered will return soon. Thanks for responding! Have a great day!
KMG Afterburners: CVS Feuerball, Reithoffer Wild Claw, Wade Hydro Shock, and Strates The Claw. Zamperla Nitro/Soriani Discover 20: MBGS/BCA Nitro. Fabbri Space Jam: All Star Amusements After Burner. Been on all of those. The Fabbri Space Jam was my favorite cause the Sears spun real fast.
