BigBrotherWii I used to have a JFG/DK64 promo video cassette. I had got in the mail in the late 90's. Wish I still had it. It was odd to receive... I thought at the time, but it definitely got me excited!
ooohhh soo jon lovitz really did do a commercial for banjo in the 90s? that os HILARIOUS i mean he had a few things going on haha he didnt have to to result to that
Banjo is masterpiece, i loved when i had it as an teen when it came out in 1998 and i love it even more now at 31 years old. Rare were the best people in the world
Fei Wong you are not alone, I miss Rare on Nintendo! But yeah im guessing you were playing this at around 12? I was 9, a few years behind, but it will always be one of my favorite games lol
I actually bought Mario and BK at the same time, so I believe I’m able to view them without nostalgia goggles. If Mario 64 is a Mazda Miata, Banjo is a Honda S2000. They share the same basic foundations, but Banjo is simply a more powerful, better polished, optimized version of the brilliant basis that Mario laid out.
I actually never realized it was Jon Lovitz who did the promo on the VHS tape. I used to watch that all the time both before and after launch when I was a kid and hearing those clips was a straight up nostalgia flood 😂
I was stuck on Gruntilda for ages. I was convinced I'd NEVER pass the final hurdle. I'd come back to it for a try on rare occasions, but it seemed futile and I just ended up playing other games. Then one day it suddenly happened.
Man so many memories of this game. My brother, my sister, my cousin, and I would spend hours watching my mom play this game when we were little. I remember every time she would quit playing I would rush to turn off the N64 because of the scary game over screen where Grunty wins and makes that evil laugh.
This is still my favorite game of all time. I've made it a tradition to play through this game 100% each year, around the winter holidays. Used to have that promo vhs, too xD Pretty much collected anything related to this game, when I was a kid.
When I first got an N64 a few months ago, every single time I asked for game suggestions everyone without exception immediately answered "Banjo Kazooie!". And they were right. I played the game for the first time in my life just recently so I'm saying this with ZERO nostalgic bias whatsoever: This is one of the best games ever.
What a game. Just finished it for the 6th or 7th time a few months ago, and it's just as playable today. I find it better than the sequel or DK64 partially because the amount of collectibles were just enough, and not overwhelming or tedious.
yeah thats how i felt, it was like by the time DK came around they were like well lets add 3 more things to collect to stretch the game out by a few more hours but for me it slowed the game down too much
Banjo Kazooie I didn't play until I was 18 last year. Weird because I had an N64 as a kid and I played as Banjo in DK Racing. But I didn't hear about this game until I was 15 when I collected comics from the 90's and there was an advertisment for the Banjo Kazooie game. i wanted to know more about the game. But a few months ago, I completed the game and with no nostalgia connections to the game, I say believe the hype. This game is so fantastic!
***** I played a little bit of Banjo Tooie. One thing for sure is that the levels are HUGE. Two hours in and I still didn't get all the Jiggies on the first level. Kids definitely got their $59.95 worth.
My Banjo Kazooie memory is being 8 years old and talking about this game with best friend at school every day. A while later I went to a small computer expo in my town and was waiting in line forever to play iBanjo at the booth, getting so close to it being my turn and being told by my parents that it was time to go. I was devastated but that that Christmas I unwrapped my N64 and a N64 game shaped present to find that it was not BK but Dark Rift! I was devastated a second time until my parents told me that had hidden one more present. It was Banjo and the best day of my 8 year old life.
I legit thought you got John Lovitz for this and I feel like a damn fool, he probably doesn't even remember this 10 cent gig. In any case, I wanted Banjo Kazooie really badly, because even though I asked for Mario Kart for christmas, I got Diddy Kong Racing instead, but I adored Diddy Kong racing, and I wanted to play everything that was associated with that game. And Banjo was introduced to me here. I didn't get my own copy of Banjo Kazooie, my family only bought games on Birthdays and Christmases, but a good buddy of mine let me borrow it long enough to beat it. I did get my own copy of Banjo Tooie though, and I was happy with that.
Got it for my 9th birthday after it came out and I remember having to stay at my grandmas that night and I couldn't sleep. Just by the box art I knew it was going to be a great game. I am now 27 and have put thousands of hours into banjo kazooie and tooie. My biggest disappointment was looking around for hours trying to get the eggs from the end scene, then I got the player guide to find out you couldn't get them. This didn't spot me from coming back to it many times. Classic rare.
This was the 4th game i got for the N64 after Super Mario, Mario Kart and Goldeneye. Banjo Kazooie definitely lived up, it was the perfect next level progression after Super Mario 64. More difficult (for a child) and that bit darker. The feeling of exploring a new World or finding a new part of the Witches mountain was great.
I'm from Argentina and it was quite hard to get hold of n64 games, I remember the first time I saw the commercial for this game, I was so hyped, I remember I never wanted a game so badly like I did with this, I had to pester my mom for 2 or 3 months straight for her to buy it for me. This game will always be etched into my memory. Ohhh the 90's
My dad bought me this with my n64 when I was 5 and I always loved it. I couldn't get over the learning curve until I was like 10 because I was more interested in 007
My memories with this game includes me buying it, along side Crash: Warped and going home and playing both and being in such aw of how good both of those games were. Banjo kazooie was neglected in place of Ocarina of time from 3rd grade on, with me casually playing it every so often, including a very cold week in February when school was canceled and the snow was so thick and cold I could only play in it so much. When I returned to banjo in 6th grade, my newly found middle school friends traded me Banjo tooie for one of my copies of OoT (I had three for a while, It just seemed like something that everyone wanted, so good trading game). With Tooie in hand, I deleted all the games on my original banjo and I set off to play them through out my 6th grade year and came close to beating both. As a kid, I wasn't big into final bosses, they were just too stressful for me to handle and because of it, I have completed most games up until the final boss and then called it good, and have only truly beat a handful of games. Kazooie and Tooie remain in my heart like many kids that grew up with the n64. Someday I might sit down and play them all the way through, but I start college in about 16 days so for right now all my games are locked up and put in storage :P
Greatest platformer of all time in my opinion. The game mechanics are perfect and the production quality for the time was far beyond anything else we had ever seen. This game had so much personality from the environments and soundtrack to the character voices. 10/10
I just watched this video. Had it on my "Watch Later" list for quite some time. It was cool to hear you share your personal story about this game and your brother in the hospital. I share mine with you and your community: I love platform games since the first time I played Super Mario World when I was 5, and when Super Mario 64 came, it was incredible. I played that game for months. Then Banjo-Kazooie came, and I remember every gaming magazine talking so good about this new Rare game. I fell in love with it, even before playing it. But... my parents never bought it for me. I think that Christmas I chose TLOZ: Ocarina of Time as a gift, and not BK. Still, I managed to play this game. I ask my parents to rent it from Blockbuster... like five times. And I played it all the weekend, to the point that my mother was mad at me. But still, I never got it. But then the sequel came on, Banjo-Tooie, and that year I asked for it in Christmas. And I loved it too. So much, I played BT for years. Then I grew up, got a job, and one of the first retro games that I spent money on was Banjo-Kazooie. Since the moment I bought it, I played it until I finished it. I remembered how awesome the fight against Gruntilda looked on gaming TV shows and magazines from the 90s, and I have to wait like 10-12 years to fight that battle (by then, I already finished Banjo-Tooie like three times). I remember BK as an amazing, beautiful and funny game that I loved, but had to wait like 12 years to really enjoy it. It's nice to see how well that game has gotten older.
This was my first N64 game. Saved up for it on my birthday and didn't know I would need a composite adapter so I had to go back to the store with my parents. That was a lot of money back then.
My earliest memories of Banjo-Kazooie was when I was eight years old, around the time the game first came out. I was spending the night with my cousin, who had the game first, and I remember watching him play it. He never really let me play his N64 when we were together, he was kind of a controller hog. But I do remember thinking how much fun it looked. I don’t remember when exactly I got myself, whether it was for my birthday or perhaps Christmas- who knows? But what I do remember was that Banjo-Kazooie instantly became my favorite game, once I did get it.. I’ll never forget all of the weekends I stayed up playing it. Or all of the afternoons rushing home from school, just to get to my N64. I never really had a lot of friends when I was growing up, but video games were there for me in ways most people never were. And Banjo-Kazooie was at the forefront of that. Don’t get me wrong, I still played outside and stuff. But there’s no party like an N64 party. Lol.. To make a long story short, Banjo-Kazooie will always have a special place in my memories. Living proof that the 90’s was the coolest time to be a kid.
I actually played Banjo Tooie first as a kid (not getting very far, but I loved it) and never played Kazooie until several years later, and did end up beating it getting every note and jiggy. Now, maybe 15 years after playing Tooie I finally beat it last night, also getting every note and jiggy!
Here's something that has been bugging me: Banjo Kazooie using noises and grunts for voices, everyone either likes them or finds them ok/tolerable. Yuka Laylee does the same thing, and everyone complains and loses their minds! Why is this?
Rare also ingeniously didn't heavily use the color combiner/tev for shading and effects. All geometry is shaded with simple per vertex colors/alpha values. This saved a ton of CPU and RDP/RSP cycles. It also looks simply fantastic. I wrote a model viewer and exporter back in 2007 called Bottles' Glasses, and this fantastic use of the RDP made accurate rendering computationally and engineering wise, very simple.
Had this for my 13th Birthday. August 1998. I think it was released a few weeks prior. Loved the music, sound effects and character / level design. I 100% completed the game within 2 weeks and completed it many times over. Years later, I lent it to a friend whose house got burgled. The biggest tragedy was my copy of BK was stolen :(
***** Wasn't all bad. His parent's insurers couldn't get another copy of BK so I had a choice of a few games. I eventually chose Excitebike 64 as a replacement, which was a fairly decent game and I wouldn't have played it otherwise; and of course I got BK back when it was released in HD on XBLA a few years ago.
A timeless masterpiece! Nothing else to say. One of the finest games of all time, perfectly crafted in every way. I recently bought this game(along with Banjo Tooie) for my collection since i never had it back in the day, but a close friend of mine had it and that's where i played it a little then. Great memories.
I played it first time on my friend's house. Then I wanted the game myself and bought it, and I think it's one of the best games I ever have played! Thanks for the video Glenn & JonLovitz!
Wow, you know Glen Plant?! You have to convince DidYouKnowGaming for having Glen as a Narrator for a future DYKG-Episode!!! Glen needs much more subscribers!!! Love your videos by the way, the Movie mistakes series is AWESOME!
As a n64 enthusiast myself I can say banjo Kazooie is every bit as good as people say, might even be better than mario 64, BUT mario definitely had more staying power, whether that’s the developers fault or not, if we compared the next gen games of Mario sunshine and nuts and bolts we know who wins
Many good memories playing this game. I think It perfected the formula implemented by Mario 64, although with its own twists. Some people sometimes say this game is easy, but that's because they only have played just the first three worlds or so.
Love this game and remember getting 100% and then seeing the secrets they intended to use in conjunction with Banjo-Tooie but never came to be the way they wanted it. Some people prefer the 2nd one but I feel it was a bit too big for its own good and it didn't help matters that you had to constantly back track through previous levels to get the jiggies you couldn't get due to not having the proper skill. It is the main reason why I've never finished it.
stop n swop was a great idea but i don't think the world was ready for it...well by world i mean nintendo who made them drop that idea! still cool there are remains of it !
Not sure why I couldn't get into this as a teen. I knew it was a great game. Something with my teenager personality I suppose. I beat this game on the XBOX 360 and it was so great.
Love this game! I binned all my original game boxes back in the day and about a year ago got some boxed copies on a good deal. Before taking the carts as trade in i checked they all worked, BK got played for a good hour before i was satisfied that it worked!! Have not had a game room for a year now and as of this weekend i start putting my new one together in my new place, this will be one of the first games that gets played in it! Keep up the good work with the N64 vids, always a good watch! :)
Keep that dream! I've not had a proper one before and bought the house on the basis of a big enough second bedroom to monopolise it completely and enough other bedrooms to divert attention from other ways it could be used. Game room for life! (hopefully...)
Couldn't help but to find your review on this game since I've been playing it recently. My memories of this game started when I was a child living in Miami Florida. I remember every time I went to the beach with my family, I would always pretend to be Banjo doing that silly run through the sand in the beach level, that was my favorite level! I would even swim like Banjo lol. The original copy of this game that me and my family grew up with was lost for a long time, but it was recently found after years and years. I never thought it would be found again along with other lost games that I had growing up! I'm so glad they were found because I thought they were lost forever. So, now that they've been found, I've been playing them, especially Banjo. This game is pretty clever playing it now as an adult, I like what it does a little better than Mario 64. I'm also glad these games were found because these games have a hefty price at my local game store. I think Banjo was like $60 or so.
Ahhh the memories I loved this game as a kid me and my brother would play it all the time. I've got recent memories too because my granddad and me bought an N64 last year for Zelda Majora's mask and one of the games that came with the console was this one and we played the hell out of it and enjoyed every moment even when the game got really hard and we died a lot we still love this game. I'm also about to do my first play through of Banjo-Tooie so I'm looking forward to that after I finish Donkey Kong 64 :)
I love this game. I recently convinced my other half to play through it with me as I knew she'd love it. We got around 12 hours in of meticulously collecting everything before moving on to each new world, when whilst impatiently skipping the intros my girlfriend was mashing the A button with the controller on her knee. It turns out she was accidently pressing the z button as well and in an instant she wiped our file :/ After a bit of a dumbfounded few moments we we just said 'meh, let's start again'. And we blitzed through game over the next week finally getting 100% completion. It's just such a perfect game, I could play it over again now.
Me: I totally get over the fact that nintendo and rare are no longer together Also me after wacht this video: WHY WHY DID THEY BROKE APART WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY (cries in nostalgia)
N64 Glenn Plant I did get the idea, from the other comments, that some may have not realized a joke took place. I just remember seeing this when I was young haha
Grutilda is one of those 'sweaty controller' bosses. You can only dodge her projectiles by swerving out of the way at the last possible second while in most other games, you'd be fine as long as you just keep running. She's so difficult that even speed runners struggle with her.
Since this is a Rare game, will you at any chance review Jet Force Gemini? It's one of my favorite N64 games and one of Rare's unique. One could only imagine where it would be now had it been a commercial success.
For anyone wondering, Jon is not really there. Glenn is using the VHS promo for Banjo-Kazooie. I know this since I have it.
BigBrotherWii I used to have a JFG/DK64 promo video cassette. I had got in the mail in the late 90's. Wish I still had it. It was odd to receive... I thought at the time, but it definitely got me excited!
doublea32989 - The glory days of When gaming was so grandiose.
aww. me sad :/
ooohhh soo jon lovitz really did do a commercial for banjo in the 90s? that os HILARIOUS i mean he had a few things going on haha he didnt have to to result to that
Used to have it. Had the Star Fox one as well.
That jiggy behind the propellor in Rusty Bucket Bay was the bane of my existence.
rusty bucket bay is the bane of my existence still
Vampirerockstar but I loved the music.
Holy crap, hearing Jon Lovitz describe Banjo Kazooie was off the hook.
pretty cool huh! one of the best tapes around
When I hear Jon's voice without seeing him I feel like the radio from Brave Little Toaster is narrating the video lol.
He knew Roosevelt. En guarde!
He's also the star of the animated TV show The Critic.
Holy shit lmfao
This game was amazing. I used to get anxiety from how huge the levels were. In a good way.
This game is so damn good, even to this day. The more I play it, the more I love it.
yeah i totally agree, prefer this over any of the sequels
I actually bought Mario and BK at the same time, so I believe I’m able to view them without nostalgia goggles. If Mario 64 is a Mazda Miata, Banjo is a Honda S2000. They share the same basic foundations, but Banjo is simply a more powerful, better polished, optimized version of the brilliant basis that Mario laid out.
Yeah Banjo is objectively the better game but Mario 64 was by far the more innovative and impactful. Sort of like Goldeneye vs Perfect Dark.
great anallogy
I actually never realized it was Jon Lovitz who did the promo on the VHS tape. I used to watch that all the time both before and after launch when I was a kid and hearing those clips was a straight up nostalgia flood 😂
Crazy when some celebs show up in gaming stuff from this era
Now that's was a game. One of my best of the N64.
And what a very nice surprise having Jon Lovitz as a guest. ^^
defo one of the best on the console for sure :)
How does this video not have more thumbs up? Most creative use of that old vhs that I have ever seen, hilarious review.
I always wanted to hear the plot of banjo kazooie on a ham radio. lol
I'm gamer for 33 years and for me this is THE best game of all time.
Now we just need a new entry in the series that doesn’t suck
I remember watching that tape over and over again. It got me so excited for the game!
Bro that hospital story hit me in the nutz
,y son has been in the hospital a lot next time we will play n64 on our chrome book for you guys
Stay safe and get well xxx
I was stuck on Gruntilda for ages. I was convinced I'd NEVER pass the final hurdle. I'd come back to it for a try on rare occasions, but it seemed futile and I just ended up playing other games. Then one day it suddenly happened.
"On RARE occasions" 🙂
Man so many memories of this game. My brother, my sister, my cousin, and I would spend hours watching my mom play this game when we were little. Cool and colorful commentaries Jon Lovitz!
This is still my favorite game of all time. I've made it a tradition to play through this game 100% each year, around the winter holidays. Used to have that promo vhs, too xD Pretty much collected anything related to this game, when I was a kid.

if you like challenging games play star wars shadow of the empire. it's a great game but gets a lot of hate becsuse of it's difficulty.
Great Review. This was the first game I ever completed 100% and I still own the copy I bought back in the day as a kid.
i wish i had kept mine but i have a minty copy now so thats all that matters to me :P
What a game. Just finished it for the 6th or 7th time a few months ago, and it's just as playable today. I find it better than the sequel or DK64 partially because the amount of collectibles were just enough, and not overwhelming or tedious.

I'm still wrapping my head around Jon Lovitz promoting Banjo Kazooie. Seeing his name in the title is the only reason why I clicked on this.
They must have offered him cash that he couldn’t turn down - easy money for a voiceover hey
The Side Quest Gamer oh man yeah its awesome, play banjo tooie also, whilst i don't rate it was being better than banjo kazooie, its still a fun game
***** I played a little bit of Banjo Tooie. One thing for sure is that the levels are HUGE. Two hours in and I still didn't get all the Jiggies on the first level. Kids definitely got their $59.95 worth.
The Side Quest Gamer oh man yeah, the levels are a lot bigger for sure
The Side Quest Gamer Review Show Well in Tooie you can't collect all jiggies in each level on your first run. You have to backtrack a good bit.

haha man i love storys like that! thats why i love doing this channel to be honest
***** Keep it up!

Don’t worry you weren’t alone 😬 just having some fun here but yeah he probably has no idea what a banjo or a kazooie is/were lol
Got it for my 9th birthday after it came out and I remember having to stay at my grandmas that night and I couldn't sleep. Just by the box art I knew it was going to be a great game. This game really brings back childhood memories. One of the best games ever.
Mark W i love this too, it also brings back so many memories for me
Imo one of the greatest platformers ever. Loved the Halloween level it just always sticks out in my mind.
Steven Connell I loved freezeey peak it was my favorite
I'm from Argentina and it was quite hard to get hold of n64 games, I remember the first time I saw the commercial for this game, I was so hyped, I remember I never wanted a game so badly like I did with this, I had to pester my mom for 2 or 3 months straight for her to buy it for me. I miss that VHS tape. I use to have it till the tape ripped cause it got stuck in my stupid VHS machine
Wow I had that VHS promo. I never realized it was Jon Lovitz.
Yeah it’s crazy the things you miss when you are a kid 👍
Banjo is now "Smashin it up"
Greatest platformer of all time in my opinion. The game mechanics are perfect and the production quality for the time was far beyond anything else we had ever seen. This game had so much personality from the environments and soundtrack to the character voices. 10/10
i think its perhaps rares best ever game still to this day
I agree 110%
I saw the commercial when released and I was sold at "It's bird, it's bear...."
THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST GAMES I EVER PLAYED IN MY CHILDHOOD!!
Can't remember how or when I picked this one up, but I remember being amazed by screenshots in magazines and the hype building it up.
Man, I love Banjo Kazooie and I love John Lovitz. Huge fan of The Critic, High School High, and his episode of Tales From the Crypt. Awesome video!
I just watched this video. Had it on my "Watch Later" list for quite some time. It was cool to hear you share your personal story about this game and your brother in the hospital. I share mine with you and your community:

I enjoyed this game very much back in the day. It's still one of the best games on the system! Gosh, I miss the old Rare...
me too :(
they shoulda used this guy's pitch for the actual pitch back in 98
some weird reson i actually thoght jon actually was gona be helping u in the review haha but good idea dude
This was my first N64 game. Saved up for it on my birthday and didn't know I would need a composite adapter so I had to go back to the store with my parents. That was a lot of money back then.
ah man that sucks, what cable did you use before that? the RF?
Oh my bad. I meant I had to get an RF adapter because I didnt have composite.
Two of my favorite things in one place: Jon Lovitz and Banjo-Kazooie!
When you think Glenn Plant paid for Jon Lovitz on Cameo but then you see the upload date.
🥰
i like that you had jon narrate
john lovitz made me feel like I was on drugs
he still does for me :P
I actually played Banjo Tooie first as a kid (not getting very far, but I loved it) and never played Kazooie until several years later, and did end up beating it getting every note and jiggy. Now, maybe 15 years after playing Tooie I finally beat it last night, also getting every note and jiggy!
A Banjo Kazooie review with Jon Lovitz! hell yeah! loved this bloody game, blew me away...My brothers and I took it turn by turn for hours on end!
Here's something that has been bugging me: Banjo Kazooie using noises and grunts for voices, everyone either likes them or finds them ok/tolerable. Yuka Laylee does the same thing, and everyone complains and loses their minds! Why is this?
WE NEED A VERSION OF THE BK VHS TAPE WITH JON'S NARRATION
It’s up on RUclips already 🙏🏼
The biggest tragedy was my copy of BK was stolen :(
ah man that sucks big time, such an awesome cart to have lost
***** Wasn't all bad. His parent's insurers couldn't get another copy of BK so I had a choice of a few games. I eventually chose Excitebike 64 as a replacement, which was a fairly decent game and I wouldn't have played it otherwise; and of course I got BK back when it was released in HD on XBLA a few years ago.
Oh wow. I never knew that was Jon Lovitz. I have that promo VHS still. I always loved his voice in the promo video.
yeah he's so funny in it and his jokes are so silly
A timeless masterpiece! Nothing else to say. One of the finest games of all time, perfectly crafted in every way. I recently bought this game(along with Banjo Tooie) for my collection since i never had it back in the day, but a close friend of mine had it and that's where i played it a little then. Great memories.
Jon lovits sounds like hed make a great "bottles" in a live action movie of banjo kazooie
Haha how amazing would that be
I actually thought this video was an interview or something with Jon Lovitz. Well played.
I played it first time on my friend's house. Then I wanted the game myself and bought it, and I think it's one of the best games I ever have played! Thanks for the video Glenn & JonLovitz!
you can check out the full banjo promo tape by you tubing it :)
Only just got around to watching this, but great review. This is one of my all time favourite platform games so nice to see it covered at last.
Not going to lie, this review works. It's pretty cool that you use his voice and edit down the clips from the VHS promo. Hats to you!~
I played banjo tooie as a kid and loved it. Haven't played the original yet, but this is making me feel the urge to buy it.
Lazyhoboguy i preferred this to tooie but they are both fun games
Great work. Loving the Lovitz voice work. I was convinced he was ur mate for about three seconds there.. :)
ha and some people still are...some people take me way too seriously
I wonder why they chose Jon lovitz to narrate this?
haha no idea...probably one of the most wacky choices ever made. however he does kind of have that crazy 90s vibe nintendo were always going for
Wow, you know Glen Plant?! You have to convince DidYouKnowGaming for having Glen as a Narrator for a future DYKG-Episode!!! Glen needs much more subscribers!!!
Love your videos by the way, the Movie mistakes series is AWESOME!
Jon Lovitz did the voice over for the vhs tape when this game came out
because it doesn't stink
I had the VHS of this when i was little. It got me so pumped for this game
I have recently gotten my N64 and I was debating over emulating or buying this game for $20...John just sold me on 5 copies.
One of the consoles finest games. There was nothing like this on Playstation or Saturn at the time to compete as a platformer.
yeah the n64 really was the king when it came to platformers
I never played BK, only played Banjo-Tooie, which is one of my favorite games of all time.
man you need to play this then! i think its the better game personally
I'm surprised you got Jon Lovitz to help you review this game. I didn't know who he was until I looked him up, THEN i remembered who he was.
+Carnage Plays I wish I did but it's actually from a promo he did for the game back in the day 😬
oh ok, I never knew that.
I remember this vhs promo..... AHH please take me back to yesterday !!!!!
Great video! Bummed about your brother in hospital. I hope all is well with him.
Thanks, yeah that was years ago now and he’s been ok ever since 👍
Great to hear! ! :)
The NES may be my favorite system, but Banjokazzoie is my favorite game of allll time.
Got the promo tape in the mail as a kid. Never realized it was Jon Lovitz till now!
Many good memories playing this game. I think It perfected the formula implemented by Mario 64, although with its own twists. Some people sometimes say this game is easy, but that's because they only have played just the first three worlds or so.
yeah it was an evolution of Mario 64 I think, they did a great job
Jon your Tales from the Crypt episode was awesome lol
Love this game and remember getting 100% and then seeing the secrets they intended to use in conjunction with Banjo-Tooie but never came to be the way they wanted it.
Some people prefer the 2nd one but I feel it was a bit too big for its own good and it didn't help matters that you had to constantly back track through previous levels to get the jiggies you couldn't get due to not having the proper skill. It is the main reason why I've never finished it.
stop n swop was a great idea but i don't think the world was ready for it...well by world i mean nintendo who made them drop that idea! still cool there are remains of it !
i used to have that tape with jon lovitz lol didnt know it was him talking.
great episode and it awesome you found this lovitz voice work! brilliant stuff
ha yeah some people have taken this a little too seriously and thought i was legit with it
Ha. That would of been brilliant. Mind you if you were mates with lovitz I would of like to see him on an earlier episode!
Jay Sherman would be a fun game critic
Not sure why I couldn't get into this as a teen. I knew it was a great game. Something with my teenager personality I suppose. I beat this game on the XBOX 360 and it was so great.
Yeah the Xbox update to it makes it very playable
Love this game! I binned all my original game boxes back in the day and about a year ago got some boxed copies on a good deal. Before taking the carts as trade in i checked they all worked, BK got played for a good hour before i was satisfied that it worked!! Have not had a game room for a year now and as of this weekend i start putting my new one together in my new place, this will be one of the first games that gets played in it! Keep up the good work with the N64 vids, always a good watch! :)
thanks for watching! one day ill have my own game room - i hope! (or a nice small studio would be cool!)
I'm also about to do my first play through of Banjo-Tooie so I'm looking forward to that after I finish Donkey Kong 64 :)
link me up when you do as ill try to find some time to watch :)
The first time it's supposed to be an off-camera thing, but if I enjoy the game I'll record it with one of my friends and I'll send you a link :)
I love this game. I recently convinced my other half to play through it with me as I knew she'd love it. We got around 12 hours in of meticulously collecting everything before moving on to each new world, when whilst impatiently skipping the intros my girlfriend was mashing the A button with the controller on her knee. It turns out she was accidently pressing the z button as well and in an instant she wiped our file :/
After a bit of a dumbfounded few moments we we just said 'meh, let's start again'. And we blitzed through game over the next week finally getting 100% completion. It's just such a perfect game, I could play it over again now.
ha thats such a cool story! i was quite anal like that on recent playthroughs making sure id 100% each level before moving on where possible
1:15 "anyway Banjo "and" kazooies mission.."
Why was that so funny 😂😂 how he said AND kazooies 😂😂
I’m a huge fan of Jon Lovits. This is great. Thanks. I’m also happy to know he is a fan of this game as well. I loved it!
I love the fella too
My cousin had the game and when my aunt gave us the 64 it was the first game I played now I can beat it every time because it’s that much fun
Me: I totally get over the fact that nintendo and rare are no longer together
Also me after wacht this video: WHY WHY DID THEY BROKE APART WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY (cries in nostalgia)
Hahaha genius use of an old commercial
+David Hernández Solyman hehe glad you got it 😬
N64 Glenn Plant I did get the idea, from the other comments, that some may have not realized a joke took place. I just remember seeing this when I was young haha
This is my number 1 video game of all times
a great choice mina!
Grutilda is one of those 'sweaty controller' bosses. You can only dodge her projectiles by swerving out of the way at the last possible second while in most other games, you'd be fine as long as you just keep running.
She's so difficult that even speed runners struggle with her.
This game was so awesome and it still is a lot of fun to play great review my friend ^_^
thanks wesker :) glad you enjoyed this episode
***** and the puns made me laugh can't wait for the next video ^_^
I never actually played this one, feel like I really missed out.
You did dan! Try playing the rare reply version now as easier to control 👍
You can really tell Jon has no idea what the hell he's saying here.
haha I wonder how much he got paid
In the 90's? Peak Lovitz? After the success of hit films like Rat Race? At least $20, maybe $40 for gas to go to and from the studio.
Since this is a Rare game, will you at any chance review Jet Force Gemini? It's one of my favorite N64 games and one of Rare's unique. One could only imagine where it would be now had it been a commercial success.
i would like to however i must admit I'm not a fan of it all that much...i haven't played it for years so i should go back to it
Yeah, getting back to it might take you a bit of time since the controls (if I remember) isn't the fastest to get use to.
I was wondering how Jon lovits got involved. Like, "does Glenn somehow know that famous person?" Then I got it. Lol
Haha I did try to make it as seem less as possible :-) wasn't trying to kid anyone though, just something different
