Hmm. Speedrunning sometimes presents an interesting perspective on aspects of a game.
From a normal play perspective, I found the quiz show to be basically the best part of the game. It fit well with the atmosphere, made you think really hard about the game you played, and so forth (though yes, Gruntilda questions really suck). And the credits bit where the game pretends that it had no final boss fight again fit right into the kind of game it was. All in all, it's probably the most memorable thing about BK.
But yeah, for speedrunning, it *really* sucks.

@@fernandobernardo6324 That has been true historically (and certainly for BK), but it isn't true in many cases today.
Many games of appropriate genres (particularly indie ones) are designed with an eye to speed running. Celeste for example didn't become a speedrunning game by accident. There were design elements deliberately added to the game to make it more amenable to speedrunning.

I never played this game as a child (simply flew under the radar of my family back then). Come these recent times when I DID play and beat this for the first few playthroughs back in 2019, I unapologetically used these Furnace Fun skips and boy did it feel satisfying to have that edge over all the people who had to suffer this part of the game back when they were younger and without access to this knowledge!

Yeah I'm in the same boat, feel kinda cheated expecting a recent breakthrough, not something already years old.
Edit: Okay there was an actual recent break through, but it was such a small amount of the total video that I gave up on the video before I even got to it. Kinda illustrates the point though...

I remember looking at a player's guide back in the day which was NOT the Nintendo Power guide (Prima or Brady maybe, but I think it was officially authorized). It listed answers to these questions, which made me smirk because I already knew the answers were different with each new file I'd started in the game.

When I was a kid, I never actually beaten B&K do to not being able it read very well during that time. That quiz show was impossible for kid me for that reason. Years later, when it came out for Xbox 360, I was trying to 100% it but couldn't find two notes. So I never bothered with beating it until I found them (Never did). Jumping to this Christmas, I whent to go see my family. The Xbox was still plugged in and had Banjo Kazooie installed. Realizing I never beat the game, I knew I had to. The problem was it was so many years since I last played it, I wouldn't be able to beat it do to my memory and the short amount of time I had to learn the answers. That was the moment I remembered this video. I actually pulled it off after a rewatch on this video. I can happily report that after starting this game nearly 20 years ago, I finally beaten it.
