This is a great game, my only complaint is that if you're fighting something underwater and get too close to the surface, the game locks you into knifing mode and you manually have to select to dive back down. It just takes you out of the fight and puts you at risk from a fatal bite from the enemy
When you think about it, this being one of the main complaints goes to show how solid the rest of the mechanics are that this seemingly minor annoyance is the biggest complaint
I really like the layout of this game, I'm not sure if you mentioned it but it's kind of set out like a TV show and I love that so much, with the narrator and scaly Pete being filmed and stuff

Definitely a must buy for the experience alone. Especially at $40. If this was a $60 full priced game, I'd probably wait, but it's not. No micro-transactions, a solid RPG level up system, nothing too fancy, but also full of fun gameplay elements. We need to support more mid-level games like this.

As a person who loved Jaws Unleashed, this was a dream come true! Though I wish you can become as large as a Megalodon... Overall, I hope the future DLCS can make us play as the Apex Predators. The Game's called "Maneater" afterall. I know there would be problems like rigging and re animating the whole game since you only play as a shark, so I have another idea... Why not make a DLC / Content where you can free roam and do as you please? That way, there will be no story mode conflictions.
I love it so far. This game is everything I expected it to be when I bought it. It's just a straight up fun shark game with a few nice rpg mechanics here and there, lots to explore and do, and solid controls. I personally found myself just not using the lock on system at all when I realized how bad it was. It is very repetitive, and that's somthing that is a gripe to a lot of people, but to me when I like the formula that is being repeated, it isn't a huge problem. Thus far I've run into very few bugs, and nothing game breaking. The game doesn't really stutter, even on my computer, even when going in and out of water. There are some graphical insufficiencies in the game, like the water being very flat on the surface and the view distance being obscured by fog. However, as I said, exiting the water was butter smooth and there was no texture pop-in. Those were two things that happened often when I played Subnautica for a quick comparison.

Maxed out my shark and beat the game in 24 hours, really hoping they come out with a DLC because I haven't played the game since I beat it. It's a great game but they need to add more stuff to it if they want to further improve it.
I just finished the game, honestly the game is very fun and challenging at times, the controls are great once you get used to them..the only cons are the missions needed more variety and it gets a bit buggy at times but the devs said they plan to support the game after release so that could mean DLC, and that they'll learn from negative feedback and try to make the game better for everyone

Underwater combat reminds me a lot of fighter pilot games, like Ace Combat. It's about making runs past the enemy, hitting them a few times, swimming past and circling back around for another attack. If you're trying to play this like a classical fighting game where you stay in one spot and attack, it's not going to work.
A fricking laser beam? I do wish there was more customization, shark skin color, scars, the shape of the teeth, the shape and size of the fin, cool cosmetic attachments like laser beams, fuzzy dice, xmas ornaments, etc. Also maybe even the type of shark. They could have allowed for the Collectibles to give you customization options, making them more meaningful.
Just gonna tell everyone right here, go and find all the sightseeing locations in each area, it unlocks a third mutation type: shadow, focused in poison and speed
My top recommendation for any new player would be to rush the bio-electric fins to break dodge, and I rocked shadow jaws as soon as I got them and it trivialized combat.

100 percented this morning. Highly recommend the game. Gameplay can get repetitive and the lock on button needs to be toggleable but the combat is great. Reminds me of far cry new dawn. Fun open world but the missions are bland.
You're lucky, the games bugged for a fair number of people(including me). I got 100% in all regions, all trophies associated with that and it still didn't give me Queen of the Ocean.
Watched this video before I bought it, and went back after I completed it :) Played this on a PS4 Slim with the framerate often dropping horribly low, especially during fights with boat hunters. Also experienced a few crashes, but I had a lot of fun besides that.
I finally got this 3 years later for Christmas 2023. Worth the wait! It's been so much simple fun, while still giving a moderate challenge here and there.
My internet went out for a week and I played through Dark souls 3 as my 1st dark souls game on a shitty laptop with a mouse and keyboard, no summons and no getting help from the internet for boss fights. It was an amazing experience.

i finished the game in 12 hours and holy shit it was a blast i really hope this game gets a dlc or a multiplayer like mode like everybody is in the same world but its harder and you can team up with other sharks or like many people have said playable apex predators there is so much they could do with this game

I'm an Australian and I've just bought this game based off this video, while I'm waiting for the game to download and install I'm just so shocked that someone has gone and made an Australian beach simulator from the perspective of the sharks.
My wife doesn't play video games at all, but I got her to try this game out and she loved it. She loved jumping out of the water to snatch people off of boats and eat them. It also helps that one of our very first "dates" was binge watching all of the jaws movies one night.
This brings up a good question, debate. A lot of people don't consider the opening cutscenes to be spoilers, I'm not so sure about that. When there's games I'm really enthused to play, I don't even want to know the opening scene for the general premise beyond what I've seen from the trailers. It's a game that looks okay but I'm not sure about, then I want to know that stuff. So it's hard to say whether or not a opening cutscene is a spoiler or not, depends on the person and how interested they are in the game.

I do love the whole shark RPG idea. It’ll be dope if they come out with a game that allows you to be other anime/species that comes with matchmaking with the whole RPG aspect. Imagine matchmaking and your group consists of a lion, wolf, rhino, etc with their own builds and pros

I managed to Platinum in about 19 hours on PS4. I was taking my time. I really like the game, but it leaves me wanting more, and feeling like I would like to see more progression and abilities, as well as new bosses and zones. Once you 100%, it just becomes random mayhem. Definitely worth a buy, but felt a bit short.
On release, I would argue that the price is just about right. It rides that line where it becomes personal preference as to whether price to content ratio is valuable to you. Any more than current price and it wouldn't be worth it to me. However, they have said they will be making DLC for it. The added bonus is no microtransactions of any kind (at the time of writing), and only one edition of the game that contains all current content. Except for the tiger skin which was exclusive to certain retailers.
It was a pre-order bonus for certain retailers. I didn't get it because I couldn't pre-order digitally on PS4. They said they would work on a way for everyone else to get it later on. I'm imagining it will be like a $5 thing. Unless they make a skin pack or something else bundled into it.

I hated when after playing the game for a long time anytime u went into another region there was a loading screen because sometimes I was just going to an objective but accidentally went into another area I finished the game and I loved it
I finished it last night and it was an easy game to 100% but it was really fun and I like that even reaching the max level with maxed out abilities you’re not entirely op like there are still some enemies that will take you down if you don’t engage them correctly
10/10 bought it today, played through it all in one day. I have not had this amount of dedication to a single game since red dead redemption 2 I highly recommend this game if you like exploring, semi strategic but extremely fun combat, and most of all SHARKSSS and like literally any marine animals they got them all in a very cool setting with great progression 10/10

They said yhey only kept the size that small since if we got any bigger, the shallows would get really buggy.

I LOVED Jaws Unleashed
I liked the jaws ps2 game when i was a kid, it was just mindless fun as i got older i realized it wasnt a "good" game but it was a damn fun one, This looks like if that game ate its Wheaties and grew up
Definitely is. This is like a suped up version of that game lol
I find with movement and locking on you need to just lock on and use RT the more you use Left stick to adjust the more you end up fighting the camera
i finished the game in 12 hours and holy shit it was a blast i really hope this game gets a dlc or a multiplayer like mode like everybody is in the same world but its harder and you can team up with other sharks or like many people have said playable apex predators there is so much they could do with this game
They should make a multiplayer mode and 1 person gets to be a shark and every one else plays as humans teaming up against the op shark.

I personally LOVE this game, it's so much fun and leveling up is done nicely too. Yes some grind, but honestly nothing too much. Narrator is amazing too.

The grind is barely even an issue compared to other games.

My wife doesn't play video games at all, but I got her to try this game out and she loved it. She loved jumping out of the water to snatch people off of boats and eat them. It also helps that one of our very first "dates" was binge watching all of the jaws movies one night.

This brings up a good question, debate. A lot of people don't consider the opening cutscenes to be spoilers, I'm not so sure about that. When there's games I'm really enthused to play, I don't even want to know the opening scene for the general premise beyond what I've seen from the trailers. It's a game that looks okay but I'm not sure about, then I want to know that stuff. So it's hard to say whether or not a opening cutscene is a spoiler or not, depends on the person and how interested they are in the game.

I 100% completed this game in 5 hours 43 minutes. Every achievement. Everything. Great game but just simply not worth the $40 price tag.

@@Nudrius This game is nowhere close to Jaws. The gameplay isn't the same, combat isn't and neither are the quests which in this game are the definition of repetitive.
My favorite part of this game is where the shark swims around doing shark stuff.
When you bring people under water you can also listen to their muffled screams
I managed to Platinum in about 19 hours on PS4. I was taking my time. I really like the game, but it leaves me wanting more, and feeling like I would like to see more progression and abilities, as well as new bosses and zones. Once you 100%, it just becomes random mayhem. Definitely worth a buy, but felt a bit short.
That is pretty short for this type of open world game, especially to platinum it. I think I'll wait for some dlc to drop before I dive in.
I mean, the game is selling at half the price of an average release day game. I'm not expecting a lot of content to be honest lol
On release, I would argue that the price is just about right. It rides that line where it becomes personal preference as to whether price to content ratio is valuable to you. Any more than current price and it wouldn't be worth it to me. However, they have said they will be making DLC for it. The added bonus is no microtransactions of any kind (at the time of writing), and only one edition of the game that contains all current content. Except for the tiger skin which was exclusive to certain retailers.

It was a pre-order bonus for certain retailers. I didn't get it because I couldn't pre-order digitally on PS4. They said they would work on a way for everyone else to get it later on. I'm imagining it will be like a $5 thing. Unless they make a skin pack or something else bundled into it.

I ran through this game 2X now. I’m on my 3rd run. I absolutely loves this game as a huge shark nerd. I hope we get a sequel or additional DLC
I just got through my 12hour run of the game and I managed to unlock all the achievements on Xbox while doing, and I’ve got to say I couldn’t agree more with you we need more games like this that are just fun games to play. I hope we maybe get some dlc down the road would love to see what they can do with this game.
I love the game but it pissed me off when it crashed and made my save data corrupted. But besides that it’s still pretty fun.
I hated when after playing the game for a long time anytime u went into another region there was a loading screen because sometimes I was just going to an objective but accidentally went into another area I finished the game and I loved it

I finished it last night and it was an easy game to 100% but it was really fun and I like that even reaching the max level with maxed out abilities you’re not entirely op like there are still some enemies that will take you down if you don’t engage them correctly

10/10 bought it today, played through it all in one day. I have not had this amount of dedication to a single game since red dead redemption 2 I highly recommend this game if you like exploring, semi strategic but extremely fun combat, and most of all SHARKSSS and like literally any marine animals they got them all in a very cool setting with great progression 10/10
