I went to the old American Girl Store there for my 10th birthday, crazy to think that was 8 years ago and now it's literally gone. So seeing the building that I barely remember is crazy, thanks for letting me see such a vague part of my childhood memories again
My husband and I met here 7 years ago when we worked at hot topic together and up until it closed we played cards every Sunday. I love seeing what it looked like after we left❤️
This was my childhood mall. So many wonderful memories, meeting girls and hanging with boys on a Friday night, it was before cell phones. We just had pagers, what a great time it was to be alive!
Oh man. I didn't know this was your childhood mall. I'm in COMO, two hours away and I remember coming to the Chesterfield Mall for black Friday in like, Jr. High
He says in the video that it's not his childhood mall and he hasn't been there before, so I don't know why the title says it is. It's still a cool video though.
I was so confused when I saw you said "My" mall. This would be like the third video with this title. Lol. Keep up the good work Josh!! Hope you're loving the bus life
It’s crazy that you’re in my neck of the woods, growing up my family loved shopping so we frequented this mall as well as some of the other big malls in STL!
I've shopped there many, many times...I had no idea it had been abandoned. Great video Josh, and thank you! V-Stock buys and resells books, games, action figures, and much more.
I used to work at the cheesecake factory there as a baker in 2022. It was my first job after graduating high school. I still live near, it about 15 min away.

What's crazy is I was born in Chesterfield but it was in SC and there isn't even a Walmart let alone a mall 🤣🤣 I think it's cool to see what other chesterfields look like lol
Yea you just never know who else could be in an abandoned building while exploring... This explore is absolutely amazing to see everything that was left inside and wild that it's gone now and this building couldn't be saved for other uses! Great video and history and sadly malls are a thing of the past now.
It may be sad but just think of the new possibilities in that open space. It could be a bigger and better mall or other buildings bringing everyone together again🤷♂️ Sometimes it's good to have changed and get sum new things. Cherish the memories and never forget 🤙
So many great memories in this great place. It feels like just yesterday I was there. Even if the place is demolished, the memories will still be there. With that… goodbye old place, you’ll always be in my heart.
This was a great wonderful video, in showing an abandoned Mall that was a childhood memory for many people.😂😂😂😂😂. And that includes Josh . I have seen many of your videos during the past years .

Was just at this mall last year. Had been there many times over the years. At one point, Chesterfield had 3 malls: this one, Taubmann Prestige and Blue Valley. Taubmann was a high-end outlet mall with stores like Banana Republic while Blue Valley was more of a basic outlet mall with stores like Nike and Levi's. Taubmann closed and was redeveloped after only being open maybe 3yrs. V-Stock sold video games, movies, collectible cards, figurines and books. Pretty cool store. Another mall that was great but closed after a short time was St Louis Mills but it closed because of thefts and location.
So sad to hear chesterfield is going to be destroyed :(, i’m glad you got to explore it one last time!! Mid rivers and Chesterfield were THE shit growing up, its sad to see their going down hill so fast. 💔
@@AxdVux I was just at Mid Rivers last weekend. It's sad to see it looking just like Chesterfield did as it started going downhill. Sears is out of business, and Dillards for some reason is closed. I don't know how that company stays in business; it seems like all they use their mall stores for anymore is storage.
Wow, I used to go to that V-stock store relatively often. It wasn't that long ago that I was there last, might've been this past year? But wow its so surreal seeing it so trashed with a ton of items left. V-stock is a franchise with a bunch of stores across the region so I'm quite shocked they haven't taken everything to other stores.
V Stock is short for Vintage Stock. They had stores in Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas. They are still around. Vintage Stock carried Comics, Consoles of the past and present, games, models, books, DVD's, VHS tapes, Laser Discs. You name it they had it!:)
There's a similar store where I'm from called 2nd & Charles. I don't think they have VHS's, but they do carry HD DVD. First one I saw was a small setup dedicated to godzilla. Best part is they have REALLY good prices. Last Christmas I got 3 books and a Howl's Moving Castle blu-ray for about $10, and most of their comics are less than $3 each.
So cool Josh absolutely looks so retro massive carpark and lots of walking love the ceilings totally looks a bit like the Australians shopping centre loved the tour and episode ❤
i genially think they had a timer to pack up things and leave like V stock store for example they needed to so many things to put away and im guessing they gave you 24-hours to dismantle everything which isn't long at all which is why they probably left so many goods behind which is kind of sad
My older brother took me to this mall about 2 years ago, My first time experiencing a mall. I was amazed, It was CRAZILY big. IT was still very abandoned and not very many people were there besides tons of people on the pickleball courts. It was amazing even still because it was very nostalgic for my brother.
this was my childhood mall, we had a tradition that every 4 months, we would go there to watch a movie, eat at the cheescake factory, and go shopping. and on every single one of my birthdays we would go to the cheescake factory there for 7 years in a row...and now its all gone..
Really do love these videos Josh, it’s always been my dream to do this. I try to explore as many places I can here in the UK safely, would love to go to some of the places you’ve been, honestly is amazing to see thank you for the content! 😊
Oh man this brings me back so many memories of when me and my family used to go there all the time it was crazy for those old past times and last few days and further before that there were times I drive by to see how it's going and I see that they are starting to destroy it down because they already started the process to do so. I'm going to miss the mall and everything that I've done with it for my family but at least memory and purpose reason I can look back and remember the good times that I shared with this mall at least while I could so good job on making this vid man it's the best my dude.
I loved, loved this video.... it's so weird, we were at the cheesecake factory not that long ago.... it is all so crazy!! I would've left that place with a truck load of stuff... saved the birds.... excitement overload!!! Thanks for exploring!!!!
My husband and I decided during July 3rd of 2020 to go and see if this mall was still even around seeing as nothing was open at that time and there was almost literally nothing else to do. We walked through it and we're surprised at how deserted so many stores were then. The writing was on the wall then. The most amazing thing about it was there wasn't a stitch of dust anywhere and plants were attended to, some to the point that some indoor trees had grown from the bottom floor to the roof. It is sad that they couldn't rationalize making a mall an indoor elderly complex. A safe retirement community for the older people. I really don't know why no one's thought of that because the elderly are where most of the money is. It would take a little effort but I'm sure there'd have been some takers to jump on board. Well here it is December and I'm a bit sad it's gone too. I'm glad you took the time to go through this for those of us that created memories here. I saw birds there in 2020 so they know where to get in and out. The floors were shiny. The only thing open then was v stock, Macy's and one other store. Some guy was selling electrical stuff my husband was interested in. I bought a Bible in v stock that day and a cookbook - physical and spiritual food 😉 It was a weird time for sure because I was surprised to hear anything opened back up in there actually. The food court had nothing in it except tables and seats. We hung out for a while and it indeed was a challenge to find a place to eat that wasn't a drive through. Finding a way to go to the bathroom during 2020 itself was insane. You had to literally plan around whenever you needed a bathroom because so many indoor places were shutdown. It was a terrible time in so many ways but we had to be creative. I got tired of sanitizer flavored sandwiches and drive through meals. My car is not meant to be a restaurant GRRRRR. Lol well, thanks again for the nostalgia. I wasn't a kid here in the USA but I could feel the vibes. I remember what it was like whenever things were moving and busy. The Mid Rivers Mall might be another one to keep an eye on. Ever since they lost Sears it's been "teetering" on edge in many ways. We go from now and then to walk around and catch a vibe. If you ever get a chance to go to Canada - Ontario specifically, check out a mall there and they're busy still. They haven't let up in business like they have here. It's fairly spooky what's going on here. Thank you 🙋🏼♀️
5:52 the whole place is not getting blown up in one day. It’s getting demolished in sections witch will take months into next year. You would know that if you watched local STL news or your just saying that for the video.
In our area we had 3 malls. But only 1 did I really hang out at when I was younger. I am 52. The mall I would hang out at is still in business and has been improved and added onto but hasn't been torn down. It still is very active.
One I life across the river in Illinois and 2 I used to be in junior achievement and we used to sell our products we made at all the malls over the 4 years I was in Junior achievement ! And I used to go to Chesterfield mall years ago when I lived in Creve Cour Missouri ! I miss that mall , another abandoned mall over there is Jamestown mall but they demolished that one from 2023 -2024 and now they’ll demolish this one 😢
Seeing malls abandoned just breaks my heart truly. Idk what it is about it but it makes me cry a bit 😂😅. Part of me thinks it might be because of a time frame in life that was amazing an never will be like that again
My hometown mall in Orange, CA was recently demolished as well. It always feels like signs of a bad direction for the state of the country. The mall land got too expensive => So rent inside went way up => So the only stores that could survive were ones that earned unfair levels of profit by selling cheap products at very expensive prices => So the mall became synonymous with over-priced goods => So people lost the desire to go.
Dang I was really thinking you were in chesterfield Michigan. I didn’t think our mall shut down but it wouldn’t have surprised me if it was our mall lol
I remember going here for a friend's birthday party in 2015 but was unable to enjoy myself due to a lot of stress I was under at the time. Crazy to think that was both my first and last memory of this place.
Dude that keyboard was insane. I couldn't fine that exact model but the 2700 runs for 3 GRAND. And I could only imagine how expensive the organ next to it must be.
I live south of saint Louis, this is so sad, my dad took me there about a year ago, when we went, it was empty. Only a few people where in the mall. We ate at one of the last restaurants, checked out some of the last stores, last floors, and of course, the play ground 18:57. That was the last thing we did, play on that playground, or, that used to be a play ground. My dad is a news reporter for KMOX news in Saint Louis. When they blew it up, my dad was there, he has a video of it, and he even has a brick from Chesterfield malls walls. Another thing to add, 28:46 This arcade was still open at the time, it was a blast. My dad talked to the owner about them closing/loosing customers.
me and my buddies explored the Chesterfield mall about a month ago, its crazy to see how fast it turned from being opened and somewhat busy, to being abandoned and being destroyed. kinda sad to see that mall go.
I have a mall where I grew up. It came very close to closing a few years ago but someone came forward and bought it in order to keep it running because it was something he grew up with. However, I feel like it's time is limited. Between online shopping, shootings happening over the years at the mall, and lack of business overall, I'll be surprised if it stays open more than a few more years.
There’s a video of those cyber trucks leaving and coming back. Someone went to the mall and explored and captured the parking lot full of Tesla vehicles self driving away and coming back.
I bet that entertainment/book store was a Borders before they went bankrupt. That floor was in the kids section of both of the borders I worked at (Confirmed, it was a Borders)
I used to go here all the time as well as the St.Louis Mills Mall that has also closed down. Now the only malls around here are Mid rivers, St.Louis Galleria, West county. There is a South county mall but that one never has many people like the others. Also the AMC part the lat movise ive seen there was the Blackpink documentary that came out.
I live right by the mall and grew up going there soooo much. It hasn't been fully demolished at all yet. But once it is, they will be building "Downtown Chesterfield" in its place. I am sad to see the mall go. But at least something exciting is ahead! I also think the Cheesecake Factory will be back/won't be fully demolished.
My grandparents lived not even a minute away from there. Every weekend we’d have IMO’s pizza or Steak n’ Sheak. They passed away about four years ago; and it’s sad to say that the rest of Chesterfield seems to be dying too.
This was my childhood mall. We still have our almost 18 year old cat now that we got from the pet store at the mall. Also seeing the stripped down AMC is crazy because I used to work at a dated movie theater nearby when I was in highschool.
I was born and raised in Missouri. I grew up with that mall. I was balling my eyes out when I heard the news that Chesterfield mall was closing and being demolished. I never felt heart break before but this hurts 😭😭😭😭
My brothers and sisters worked at this mall. I’ve been going to this mall since 1989. I remember all the hot spots and restaurants that changed over the years and the old food court. Im pretty sure u went into one of the stores that happened to be the old KB Toys.
I can’t believe it’s finally gone. This place was where you came to hang out when I was little. Crazy that you grew up coming here too!! What a small world!! So awesome you posted this 💕💕
this is so crazy to me, i go by this mall every time i go to my uncles house for christmas. i had no idea it was closed and being demolished, that’s so sad :( last time i went by there were still i think 3 or 4 stores open but almost entirely abandoned at that point
This was my childhood mall along with the Galleria. Just a few months ago I was there for V-stock and the small arcade that was running for a while. I had no idea they closed it yet, very sad to see. Although I am glad a portion of the renovation is going towards residential units, we definitely need more housing around here.

This made me happy and sad and I cried probably from all of the memories I have here and how much I miss walking the halls
I used to go to vstock all the time, they have stores in other nearby malls, crazy to see everything go.
This breaks my heart I use to come here all the time back then, dang good old times fade away.
Oh wow
Josh, one thing that really annoys me is you keep saying “old” … this place closed like a month prior to you visiting there. It wasn’t old at all
I didn’t know you were from around these parts, Josh! So exciting to learn! Much love from STL
I really miss the mall so many good memories from the 90s and 00s
I’m gonna miss this place big time so many memories here
I basiclly grew up in that mall in that mall it was SOOOO beautiful
me and my buddies explored the Chesterfield mall about a month ago, its crazy to see how fast it turned from being opened and somewhat busy, to being abandoned and being destroyed. kinda sad to see that mall go.
That floor was in the kids section of both of the borders I worked at
(Confirmed, it was a Borders)
I used to go here all the time as well as the St.Louis Mills Mall that has also closed down. Now the only malls around here are Mid rivers, St.Louis Galleria, West county. There is a South county mall but that one never has many people like the others.
Also the AMC part the lat movise ive seen there was the Blackpink documentary that came out.
I live right by the mall and grew up going there soooo much. It hasn't been fully demolished at all yet. But once it is, they will be building "Downtown Chesterfield" in its place. I am sad to see the mall go. But at least something exciting is ahead! I also think the Cheesecake Factory will be back/won't be fully demolished.
this was very coo, I was at the edge of my seat watching you guys try to escape the mall.
I used to go there every week after getting my paycheck to buy vintage action figures at V Stock. That's sad to see it go.
I spent so much time in this mall. I grew up going here too. I’m sad it’s gone. I moved to Oregon not knowing I’d come back to this mall being gone
That kurxwell piano worth ₹86000 Indian rupee probably 1000 USD 😮
Great video as always Josh x
I can’t believe it’s finally gone. This place was where you came to hang out when I was little. Crazy that you grew up coming here too!! What a small world!! So awesome you posted this 💕💕
this is so crazy to me, i go by this mall every time i go to my uncles house for christmas. i had no idea it was closed and being demolished, that’s so sad :( last time i went by there were still i think 3 or 4 stores open but almost entirely abandoned at that point
wow thats pretty wild
I thought everything closed all at once thought i didn't think they just all individually left one by one
This was my childhood mall along with the Galleria. Just a few months ago I was there for V-stock and the small arcade that was running for a while. I had no idea they closed it yet, very sad to see. Although I am glad a portion of the renovation is going towards residential units, we definitely need more housing around here.
