- Here’s a chase of YLA51, the local that runs from Weeds Yard, to the industries on the northern San Pedro Subdivision in Vernon and Huntington Park. I was able to do a full chase of this trains activities today.
It ran on the San Pedro Subdivision, then former Los Angeles and Salt Lake route from LA to Long Beach, which was an important mainline to the port until the opening of the Alameda Corridor in 2002. Since then, locals have been the only show in town on this part of the line, which features vintage searchlight signals protection the junction and approaches with the LAJ Railroad.
Starting on the San Pedro Sub mainline, I caught it at the searchlight protecting the immediate junction with the LAJ. They broke the train, and then shoved backwards to switch their industry along the West Bank of the Los Angeles River, Coast Packing. Here it exchanged tanks for empty ones before heading back out.
The next industry to switch was on the exact opposite side of the trains operating limits, Scott Sales Co, where it took small two bay hoppers out after running as lite power, before shoving the whole train in to spot the loads. Its next task was on the Huntington Park Industrial Lead, where it switched tanks at Amalie Oil (ACOUSA), before doing final switching at the end of the spur at Hippo Sak. It switched at Hippo Sak for a while, before eventually returning to the mainline and going back up north to Weeds. Thanks for watching!

@@PasadenaSubColin that local runs on Mondays most of the time but never weekends. It departs from Valla yard in Santa Fe Springs in the morning and runs to Pacific Plastics in Brea. I usually see it passes La Habra between 9 am and 11 am. But sometimes as early as 7 am.
@@AmtrakFan6905lately it has been passing around 11 AM I hear it every Monday and Wednesday at school
It kinda sucks how bad locomotives look with spray paint on
It is so sad to have graffiti on any locomotive!! Paint the cars/trucks of the graffiti artists!! Love the UNION PACIFIC!!!!🇺🇸
these are far from the most graffitied ones... i have a lot more of them in future videos lol
