That was a great video on how they cut the train to make it lighter to get up the grade. Didn't think they were going to get started with all that wheel slipping, but they did.. I don't think they filled the sanders, didn't see any sand coming out to help with traction. Really glad you stayed till the entire process was completed.. Thanks Mr. JawTooth

The wheel slippage reminded me of a 1950s TV show depicting the "Old West" [19th century] (US) where some rural folks had issues with a railroad line, whereupon they sabotaged the rails with bacon grease, rendering the steam locomotive to paralysis on the tracks.

Love it Brian and Jesse....! A man and his dog, nothing better.... He should have gotten a little better run at that hill Brian.... I mean he had two units and not that many cars, albeit all loads... What we would do on a yard job like that was to cut the power off and go up the hill sanding the rail and then come back down and grab the cut.... I didn't see any sand on that rail when you got over by the crossing and she was picking up her wheels, slipping ....Anyway, great video buddy... Give Jesse a pet for me...! "Smoke Em"...Greg

That crew was probably thinking if only we had the SD40 today. As the train came up to the second grade crossing one could just see the speed tapering off and even on the first recalculation of tonnage reduction the hill remained a foe. Looking at some of the heaps of gravel in those Hoppers the word overload took on new meaning and can affect performance. Glad you still made it to the game I'm sure the girls enjoy being able to play year-round to keep their skills honed. Stay bundled up what as the temps drop.

Wow - Were those guys told to not use any sand on those rails ? Or did somebody forget to fill up the sandboxes ? Great video on railroad operating problems that can show up un- announced while working on a job. Keep those viceos coming !

It seems to me that the. New ownership of the Cincinnati Eastern needs to buy/lease a couple on six axle engines. Another suggestion it to use sand on the hill. But what do I know?
