Hi from York, England, and thanks for another great video. You seem to have a knack of catching interesting things happening on the rails around Utica! Thanks also to your kind sister; her lunch was well deserved!
Always enjoy your street-running videos! Having run trains in 10th St. in Noblesville, IN (before the track was removed), I appreciate very much the challenges that the Susquehanna face.
Railroading Rambler, Excellent video! Your excellent narration accompanying the video was very helpful to those of us fellow railfans that do not know the area, as I was able to follow along using Google Earth to for the movement of the train. Also, a big thank you to your sister to assist with transporting you, due to your car being in the shop to railfan. Thank you. John
LOVE seeing this upstate action (and kudos to your sister for indulging your snowy adventures-cheers to you, Maryanne! (Hope I spelled your name right.)
Really enjoy your videos of Utica featuring the 3040. I purchased my tiny Atlas model of it at the Syracuse show last month, being inspired by your videos. My version came with sound. Thanks to you, I'll know what the horn should sound like. Love your winter shots. Please keep posting more videos of the 3040. And thank you too for the history of the tracks we are seeing.
So as a post Thanksgiving treat your sister was kind enough to do the driving in inclement weather to follow the NYSW. Meanwhile I can picture Witold curled up by the office heaters. @1:22 the drawing on the side of the car looked like Garfield who would be the perfect nemesis for Witold. From the crossing protection to the unit sitting by the bushes in the park like setting then finally making the run on the hill It was short line railroading at its best. After years of driving in the snow for a living it's nice to sit back and watch the snowflakes fall as the train goes through the winter wonderland While the snow passes us by in Milwaukee We have 40 mph winds today.
Watching from Kingston, Ontario where we can see the clouds coming off the Lake Ontario to the south and you know somewhere between Watertown and Syracuse is getting the lake effect
When I used to commute to Utica on route 8 I used to cross a set of tracks between Bridgewater and either Clayville or Cassville. They were marked with an "EXEMPT" sign, and the last time I was there back in the 1990s they were tearing up the tracks.
Yes, the Richfield Springs branch, 22 miles from Cassville’s Richfield Junction to Richfield Springs. An active narrow gauge railroad operates on part on that right of way today (Utica, Chenango & Susquehanna Valley)
Hey rail rambler your sister is awesome for taking you train chasing. I'm surprised engine can't handle 3 loads on grade. Must be to small for not enough horse power. 🤷 Love the winter scenes.
Glad you liked the video. 3040 is tonnage restricted to 7 loads up Paris Hill to Sangerfield. Sometimes, as seen in the video, that’s not enough to guarantee things will work out smoothly. Yes, my sister earned a gold star for her assistance!
I have a challenge for fans....complete the following sentence.... "I know Schuyler St better than I know....(name a street you used to live on and no longer visit....) Briscoe St , London Ont Canada...... bonus points for anyone with a street running track in your past!!! Tks Maryann!!!
He’s a curly-coated retriever an old English breed. Unfortunately, I doubt whether regular service through Norwich will ever return. It’d take a big customer to come in for that to occur
@railroadingrambler218 I read somewhere that Chobani had expressed an interest in rail, but with them selling the Woods Corners property I guess that won't be happening.
It's cold, and snowing and the train is coming down the street in December. Beautiful way to start the Christmas season.
Love love love that turbo sound!
You always do such a great job of covering the street running local. Even when you need to hitch a ride to get out there !!
That was a beautiful shot of the train across the snowy fields.. thanks to sis too

The yellow and black paint scheme looks really good against the snow covered scenery.

I absolutely love the grey house on the hill in Clayville. It has the added bonus of trains passing by
It’s a fine old home.
Looking in from North Yorkshire, England. No snow here yet, just frosty mornings.
Thanks for another wonderful video.
Thanks to your sister! Greetings from the Florida Gulf Coast.

Great video!
Watching from Siler City City North Carolina
Have you ever caught them pushing cars into the Oneida warehouse building? I've seen the door open with boxcars inside.
Yes, January 2021 ruclips.net/video/xZO0YCCi_3s/видео.html
Excellent. Just watched thanks!
Family doesn't always understand our hobbies
Winter has arrived in Tonawanda! 😑 ugh! The wind shifted and…
COOL !!

Funny how the train runs the stop signs on Schuyler St....
Would love to live on that street with the trains passing my front porch----as long as they didn't shale the plaster off the walls! !
When I was buying a house, my son (then 8) insisted i buy it on Schuyler St 😂
I wonder if a C430 would have the same trouble, with a small train, on that grade??
1 in 55 to 1 in 56 in British railway parlance. Just thought you would like to know.
How is it determined when to use a flagman at the crossing or use a flare?
looks like the car changed colour at the end......?
Blew right through a stop sign.
Why don't NYSW buy the CSX line from Syracuse to Canada?
Don't quite understand that Engine has plenty of Horsepower to bring those Cars up the hill.
3040 is limited to 7 loads up Paris Hill
And weather conditions can even make taking fewer cars than 7 up the hill a dicey proposition
👏
Sorry, that's Paris hills 1.8% grade. Just to make that clear.
Thanks!
You didn’t get hammered like the others?
Correct, the big snowfall was much farther north
They should have kept the 4423. Wonder how long until that returns now.
Hobo shoestring big sleepout under a train bridge with fire in a 40 gallon burn barel.? To remember hobo shoestring.
I enjoyed his videos, sad that he’s gone.
Isnt that the former Erie Lackawanna Binghampton Utica main???
Yes indeed
Is Witold a Portuguese water dog? Also do you think there will ever be trains on the branch through Norwich again?
He’s a curly-coated retriever an old English breed. Unfortunately, I doubt whether regular service through Norwich will ever return. It’d take a big customer to come in for that to occur
