Yeah that's Bill Medley's natural voice - a rich, beautiful baritone, and perfect blended with Bobby Hatfield's sweet high tenor. There are probably thousands of people alive today who were conceived to this song.
They each had the vocal talent to perform as soloists. Medley sang the low parts with his bass-baritone voice, with Hatfield taking the higher-register vocals with his tenor. His voice reached the register of a countertenor..
There was color tv in 1964 but not every show was in color. Color shows were in in minority. Two color shows: "Bonanza" and "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color". On NBC every color show was introduced by the Peacock spreading its tail. I am sure you can find the Peacock somewhere on RUclips.
OH GOD LOOK BACK AND SEE HOW MUCH PEOPLE GOT PAYED AND HAD ALOT OF CHILDREN ( NO BIRTH CONTROL) ALOT COULDN'T AFFORD A WASHER AND DRYER. Bobby is a countertenor. This just means he can hit high notes easily...he doesnt use falsetto, he has no need of it. Countertenors are the rarest of male singing voice. I suspect Roger Taylor (drummer in Queen) and Steve Perry are also in the counter tenor category.
No auto-tune. Just talent and amazing range. Most singers today can't even come close, especially outside of a studio. And YES - that's their natural, ACTUAL voices. Both of them - Simple and pure and powerful.
Not sure if you realise this, but this was the era of the Vietnam war and lots of people were losing their loved ones, either through separation, running or death. This song broke many hearts.
"Lovin Feeling" BMI ranked as radio's most requested and played song of the 20th century. The short one is the late Bobby Hatfield, who did the solo "Unchained Melody". His version of that song was used as the background music for a love scene in the 1990 movie "Ghost." The public reaction to the song was so great that the album was rereleased and sold over a million copies many different COUNTRIES. Bill Medley, deep voice, is still going strong, touring and doing concerts. Bill and Bobby had an agreement that each would do a solo track on their albums, thus Bobby's solo of "Unchained Melody."

No matter what color WE are, WE ALL have soul. They were able to bring it to the table. Thank GOD for youtube bringing back the greatest music Era in the world & the younger generation being blown away by it. EVERYTHING comes back in style.....
History of the name. They were performing at a blues club, before a black audience. A Marine with his buddies listened to this song, stood at the end and hollered…that was RIGHTEOUS, BROTHERS!
One thing you'll learn here...we all love our music and get a little too picky. It will all work out. No lip synching and no autotune. This is all real and happening right there.
The shorter guy with the higher range is the one that sang Unchained Melody; just a little difference in the hairstyle and the gap in his front teeth before he had it fixed. They had some great love songs like this but for the essence of the Righteous Brothers and why they were dubbed that can be seen on their old black & white weekly Shindig live performances. They were also known for letting it rip which is what I looked forward to each week back in the 60s. Try viewing "I Need Your Loving Everyday" and their Blue Eyed Soul moniker will make more sense. So many treasures of theirs to find and enjoy. Thank you for coming back to react to their music and their unique, incomparable voices.
Here are some more songs by The Righteous Brothers to check out Soul and Inspiration Just once in my life You'll Never Walk Alone Little Latin Lupe Lu My Babe Justine And then some solos to check out Bobby Hatfield " Summertime" live performance 1965 Bill Medley "Ol Man River" live performance 1965 Bobby will blow you away with his soulful vocals with Summertime.
True. The musicians and singers went into the recording studio, did their thing, and pure magical raw talent hit the airwaves and mega stars were launched. I’m thankful to be a Boomer and got to hear this fab music in “real time” so to speak. On transistor radios and black and white TV, no less! 👍👏
Thank you for this. I was 5 years old in '64, and my uncle, who was 12 years my senior and thus the coolest boy ever, had this in his album collection. We lost him to suicide two years ago, and I miss him tremendously. He remained that "cool boy" all of my life. This made me cry - but in a good way. Better times for him. And of course those are their real voices - no autotune and all that stuff back then - color TV was the big new thing...
Every time I hear this it reminds me of walking home from school and stopping for some delicious fries at the Shack 😋 Those were the best days for great music my friend
I was dragged to a Righteous Brothers concert in 2000 and was blown away that both guys could still sing. At that time Bobby Hatfield was 60 years old and everyone at the venue was shocked when he flawlessly sang Unchained Melody and hit every note. I know for a fact that they actually sang with no auto tune or lipsynching because I was the maintenance man for the venue the sound system was from the 70s and the only thing that you could plug into it was a microphone. Bill Medley is doing his farewell tour this year after 60 years of concerts.
I love your natural reactions and appreciation of their live music. I don't know any women of this time who hasn't listen to their songs over and over and over...... Next one - Soul and Inspiration.
Both voices are their natural voices and they are funny as well. I was lucky to see them in concert at the Crystal Grand in Lake Delton, Wisconsin just months before Bobby Hatfield died.
@@Williamchandler301 I was lucky enough to see the Righteous Brothers live at the Crystal Grand Theatre in Lake Delton, Wisconsin just months before Bobby Hatfield died as a birthday gift from my late husband, Joe.
@@Williamchandler301 Definitely one of the most beautiful voices in a duo that ever existed. I have seen Brooks and Dunn live as well and Ronnie Dunn has a fabulous voice as well .
They were called something else at the beginning of their careers but at one particular gig a guy went over and said that was righteous brother, hence their name.
1:14 "but listen, don't give up just yet, you're gonna be alright... you're gonna be alright" Much respect. Not to be overly dramatic, but you're literally saving lives by saying this. This is all someone needs to hear sometimes. Love you, brother.
It’s amazing to see these guys so young I guess that means I’m kind of old but I’ve got to say these guys had that gift. Even after nearly sixty years this is a gift that keeps giving.
Many people will say that what the Righteous Brothers had was pure talent. That's wrong. They start with talent and great voices, but then they put in a huge amount of dedicated hard work, attention to detail, and listening to constructive criticism to develop skills and harmony. All the talent in the world can't turn a voice like a chainsaw into a beautiful instrument. Hard work and skill could teach that voice to make the best of what it has, but it wouldn't change the fundamentals of the voice. What talent does is make the hard work give bigger returns.
Mid 60's and "stereo" was in it's birthing. Distant miking was being faded out. Total "human" generated. I'm 71 and really appreciate the positive responses your generation gives our music. The more we know of each other, the closer we become!
Your comment at the end had me in stitches of laughter, other Righteous Brothers songs you may enjoy is "Ebb Tide, Heart and Soul Inspiration, Summertime."
The girl showed emotion, as if she was remembering someone else she lost. People would go dancing with each other a lot back then, just friends, or whomever could pay for the tickets.
This song is the reason a lot of us are here. Many of our Grandparents “sealed the deal” to this song.

Exactly! Natural talent, no computers, no auto tune. The best music growing up.
I saw them both in like 1996 or 1997 both great
No they didn't have auto-tune back then back then it was called the triple threat you had to sing dance and act lol
Yes they did. One of the band chucked something at you.😂😂

Baby, baby, I’ll get down on my knees for you.” What a line and the way he says it. I love The Righteous Brothers!❤❤
Yes, all the oldies are natural. There was no auto tune or artificial things. What you hear from all oldies are real, raw talent.
Hello 👋 Sharon 😊 ,How are you doing?
Don't sweat skipping the interview. This is the internet. Someone somewhere will always complain. It is the nature of the beast.
The only two singers whose career was build on their harmonies who sang in completely different natural keys😭 my favorite duo ever btw!
I love to see peoples reaction when Bill goes: "baby, BABBBYYYY"
