Guys, when I say "everytime the road splits, you will choose the path that goes closer to the water", there's one exception : when you're here 36.432612276858556, 25.421487724561196. Going from Fira to Oia, you need to keep RIGHT at that fork. The path on the left leads to Skaros rock and it's a dead end.
I just did this hike last week Monday and even though it was really hard it really motivated that anything is possible. The weather was hot that day but with a few rest here and there and plenty of water it’s possible. It is a must do if you go to Santorini.
My wife and I just did this hike, or half of it. About half way you go down a pebble/gravel hill. We slipped all the way down to the road. My knees were shot after that, so we caught the bus that stops right there at the bottom. The first part of the hike was mostly uphill, and with asthma was a challenge. If I did not have bad knees or asthma we would have made it. Beautiful views.
I did not attempt this hike as I travelled with my young children; however, I did a solo hike from our hotel in Firostefani to Askari’s rock at about 6 AM and it was amazing. There was a heavy fog that lifted just when I made my way down the small path around the rock (not the forbidden path) to the church located on the opposite side. I had the entire place to myself and it was my favorite activity during my entire stay.
Hi Sebastian, thank you so much for your amazing videos, they are a life saver! I was wondering how safe it is to do this hike after sunset? I imagine that at least the second part is not illuminated. But what about the first part? Could I come back from Imerovigli to Fira by foot after the sun has gone? Thank you! I will be travelling alone in October so I guess I might get to see the sunset in Oia with not that many tourists!
@@GreeceExplained I wanna do this hike on the Friday 30th sep & the boat tour to the volcano and hot springs on the Saturday. Is there a link I can prebook on? I’m sorry for inquiring here I don’t have instagram

Thx for the feedback David ! Yes that slope before the bus stop is a pain ... But I'm glad you liked the experience !
Wonderful hike. Totally worth it! Thank you!

Correct ! Imerovigli to Oia has no light at all but Fira to Imerovigli is full of light, so totally doable even after dark.
I wish I did I a few hours before sunset
Such a great video! Question - we'll be in Oia already so is it just as good to hike from Oia TO Fira?
Yes it is ! Have a look at this vid for more info : ruclips.net/video/FWt8UdpzD2o/видео.html
What do you think about hiking fira to imerovigli and back? My partner is not comfortable with the paths on the second half.
Yes its a good alternative. Would take around 2 hours round trip.
Thanks for all your videos! Can we have hot bath even we can't swim? And how to get local guide please plaining to come in July 😊
The Hot Springs are deep so if you cant swim, I wouldnt really recommend it :-) For the local guide, you can hit me up on IG : @sebi_the_guide

how is it for plus size people? how would you recommend people prepare for it?
It's a very demanding hike, so I probably wouldnt recommend it. But you could do the shorter version, aka Fira to Imerovigli. hope this helps ! :-)
What if we go during christmas time? Wld it be harder?
The hike will be easier coz no heat !
I'm not on instagram...how do I contact you? Facebook?

But wouldn’t that actually be a total of 12 miles? You have to get back to where you started.
You dont need to walk back ! :-)
