    Guys, when I say "everytime the road splits, you will choose the path that goes closer to the water", there's one exception : when you're here 36.432612276858556, 25.421487724561196. Going from Fira to Oia, you need to keep RIGHT at that fork. The path on the left leads to Skaros rock and it's a dead end.

    I just did this hike last week Monday and even though it was really hard it really motivated that anything is possible. The weather was hot that day but with a few rest here and there and plenty of water it’s possible. It is a must do if you go to Santorini.

    My wife and I just did this hike, or half of it. About half way you go down a pebble/gravel hill. We slipped all the way down to the road. My knees were shot after that, so we caught the bus that stops right there at the bottom. The first part of the hike was mostly uphill, and with asthma was a challenge. If I did not have bad knees or asthma we would have made it. Beautiful views.

      Thx for the feedback David ! Yes that slope before the bus stop is a pain ... But I'm glad you liked the experience !

    I did not attempt this hike as I travelled with my young children; however, I did a solo hike from our hotel in Firostefani to Askari’s rock at about 6 AM and it was amazing. There was a heavy fog that lifted just when I made my way down the small path around the rock (not the forbidden path) to the church located on the opposite side. I had the entire place to myself and it was my favorite activity during my entire stay.

    Hi Sebastian, thank you so much for your amazing videos, they are a life saver! I was wondering how safe it is to do this hike after sunset? I imagine that at least the second part is not illuminated. But what about the first part? Could I come back from Imerovigli to Fira by foot after the sun has gone?
    Thank you! I will be travelling alone in October so I guess I might get to see the sunset in Oia with not that many tourists!

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  Год назад +1

      Correct ! Imerovigli to Oia has no light at all but Fira to Imerovigli is full of light, so totally doable even after dark.

    What do you think about hiking fira to imerovigli and back? My partner is not comfortable with the paths on the second half.

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  Год назад +1

      Yes its a good alternative. Would take around 2 hours round trip.

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  3 месяца назад

      It's a very demanding hike, so I probably wouldnt recommend it. But you could do the shorter version, aka Fira to Imerovigli. hope this helps ! :-)
