    Hi Sebastian, your video channel is most helpful to tourists visiting Santorini, genuine and thoroughly informative. You make every one a LOCAL in minutes. Love every second of it! 👍
    Two questions:
    1. on a single bus journey/route, no matter how many stops to take, always ONE nominated fare, right?
    2. Karterados is a bus stop on airport->Fira route, but the (express) bus will not stop there (also not any passing stops), right?

      Thanks Mark for the kind words !
      1. Correct
      2. Correct. BUT when hopping on the bus at the airport, make sure to TELL THEM you're going to Karterados, coz sometimes they're in a rush and skip all the stops to go faster.
      Enjoy Santorini !

I have seen sooo many different videos of different subjects in many countries but this one tops them all. Thank you so much.

    I will be in Santorini at the end of March and thanks to your videos I think I have most things figured out. One thing I am still trying to figure out is how to get to the Santorini airport on the morning that we depart. We are staying in a hotel in Firs but our flight leaves at 6:00am. If I am reading the bus schedule correctly, it doesn't seem that I can take a bus at that hour because there isn't one ☹️.
    So I have to rent a car. That's ok because I was planning on doing that for part of my stay.
    But please tell me if I am right about that.

    My wife and I will be in Santorini next week and we can't wait! Do the buses usually fill up to max capacity around this time of the month (particularly for the Fira-Oia and Fira-Imerovigli/Firostefani route)? I'm worried that since the bus seats are taken on a first come first served basis, we will waste time by having to wait for a later bus on the schedule.

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  2 года назад +2

      Hi !
      Great suggestion, I'll post a video about taxis later in 2022 !
      For now, my main advice is to never go up to a random taxi and ask for a ride. That would nearly always be the most expensive option. What I would recommend, is that you ask your HOTEL to organize all the necessary transfers. It's more reliable, you never have to wait, and you're sure you're not getting ripped off because hotels wouldn't want their own customers to feel flawed.
      Concerning prices :
      - transfers to/from the airport and the ferry port will be around 40-50€.
      - "average sized" rides, like Fira - Oia (20min) will be 30-40€.
      - short rides, like Fira - Imerovigli (10min) will be 15-25€.
      There you go ! Let me know if you have other questions ! :-)

    Thanks for all this very useful information, your channel is great and I'm doing a marathon watching them. I need to make a final decision. I was thinking of staying in Pyrgos, but due to the frequency of the buses I have my doubts now :( . just to get an idea. How early could I get a bus from Pyrgos to Fira? . I will stay there between 3 to 6 Oct.

      For now its 6:45am then 8am, but I cant promise that by October it will still be the same.
      You can keep on eye on the timetables (link in the description box of this video). You want to look at the Perissa => Fira line, and add 15-20min to the departure time in Perissa.

    Hi Sebastian, thanks for the video! It is very helpful. One question: if I want to walk from Vlychada to Perissa (or the other way round), is it possible to do so by following the coastline? Or I must walk inland?

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  2 года назад +2

      Yes you can do it all by the coastline. Sometimes you'll have a paved road to walk on (aka the dike), sometimes you'll be walking on the beach itself.

    Hi and thanks for your informative videos! Just subscribed. I’ll be heading to Thera to make a documentary about the prehistoric Therans and look forward to exploring the island next month in April.
    Quick question: do you know if Ancient Thira and the archaeological site of Akrotiri are open April 6-10? I looked online and found conflicting reports. Thanks again for this great content.

    hi Sebastian, we are arriving in Santorini airport on 9th April and we are staying in Firostefani,I know I can take a bus to Fira and I can find schedule on KTEL webpage and other pages but there is no line from Fira that includes Firostefani. Indeed there's no direct connection between the airport and Firostefani, so you gotta switch lines in Fira.
      OR ... just walk from Fira to Firostefani. That's like 20min. Depends how big your luggage is...

    Hey Sabastian. Question. If we do the Fira to Oia hike on afternoon/evening and then want to take the bus back from Oia to the Tasos Tavern stop on the Oia line, can we just stay on the bus from Oia through Fira and then get off at Tasos Tavern when its on its way back to Oia again. Would we need to pay 2 fares for this? One from Oia to Fira and another to get of at the tavern stop from Fira? Thanks

      Yes you'll have to pay another ticket, coz it's almost certainly gonna be another bus going to Tasos, than the one you took in Oia. So 2 x 1.60€pp.
      Enjoy the hike !!

    Hi Sebastian. Thank you for your great videos. They have been really helpful and informative. We are staying in Akrotiri in the latter part of May, early June. Judging by what you said about the bus, if we wanted to spend an evening in Megalochori, Fira or Imerovigli, then we can’t rely on a bus and would need to hire a car or use a taxi for return journey?

      Thank you for your reply. Can I ask another thing. I am assuming when the bus gets to the end of the line, Akrotiri especially, it does the same journey in reverse. If so, does that mean I could get off at Megalochori or Pyrgos? Or would I need to go all the way to Fira, also could I catch the bus from Pyrgos back to Akrotiri on its journey. If I’m making myself clear. Thanks you.

    • @GreeceExplained
      @GreeceExplained  Год назад

      @@darrenmould5969 Correct, the bus takes the same route on the way back. So it goes through Megalochori indeed. For Pyrgos, you can ask to be dropped off at "Santo Wines", and from there its a 10min walk.
